With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

"It's because you're in a league all of your own," Vi said with a very serious nod, before she cracked a split second later and started grinning once more. Her attempts at being anything but cheerful were very much the same as Kitty's - a complete and utter failure.
You'll have to find someone else. Immediately, Vi's bottle green eyes skimmed over her friend consideringly because... well, combined with the grin her friend gave her, it almost sounded like Kitty was offering up herself. Never one to be shy, Vi let out an upbeat hum before saying lightly, "Maybe I will... I meaaaaaannnn, I'm starting to wonder if I have to look very far or not." The smile that slide onto Vi's pink painted lips this time was a mixture of cheeky and flirtatious as she met Kitty's eyes.

"Hi, Professor Weasley!" Vi trilled as she all but waltzed into the class, a sunny smile on her face as she headed towards an empty seat next to... dun dun dun, Lars. She didn't know him super duper well, but she definitely wanted to. He seemed like a cool kinda guy, one that might take you for a fly around the pitch once or twice, plus he was uber cute. Like, could stare into his eyes for hours kinda cute. Speaking of which, Vi totally wanted to paint a portrait of him sometime to try and capture that intense look he gained on his face at times. It would be positively magical if she was able to have that expression immortalised onto a canvas via her paintbrush. "Hope you don't mind me sitting here!"
With her small greeting over and done with, Vi started pulling out belonging after belonging onto the desk in front of her, making sure that the space was set up before Professor Weasley started her lesson. It wasn't too long after the blonde started speaking about Vanishing Spells that Vi's attention started dwindling, her leg bouncing underneath the table. It wasn't Professor Weasley's teaching method or anything, it was just that focusing on one thing for an extended period of time (ergo, a few minutes) was difficult. It always had been.
Picking up her cerulean blue-feathered quill, Vi dipped it into the ink pot in front of her and started doodling, her ears only half-listening to the conversation. She only tuned back in when Colwynn said something about animals and the state of non-being and a puzzled expression dawned on Vi's face. Leaning over to Lars, she asked, "Um, so, this... vanishing business. Where do the animals disappear to? Like, what's a state of non-being? Is that just not existing like... like poof, you're gone from the earth entirely?"
Vi tried her very best to dwell on the fact that asking this only gave to the stereotype that she was a dumb, airheaded blonde but if you didn't ask, you'd never know... right? Scrunching up her nose as she awaited the answer, Vi's attempt not to dwell failed miserably and she wondered if Lars was asking himself the very same question she often did late at night in her bed - why was she a Ravenclaw if she wasn't actually smart?

Kitty, as always, was a sight for sore eyes and Vi beamed at the appearance of her good friend, giving her a great big squeeze back. "Anyone ever tell you that you're the cutest patootiest fourth year Gryffindor girl named Kitty?" Vi said with a giggle, swinging Kitty around a teeny tiny bit. When she drew back, Vi's fingers were instantly on the girl's absolutely stunning blonde hair, twirling the strands around her fingers. Gosh, it was just so long and luscious - a total juxtaposition to Vi's short, dead straight blonde hair.
"Hmm, I was going to try and see if I could get a great big smoochie woochie off that sixth year boy but he's disappeared. How sad," she said, though the great big smile on Vi's lips hinted that she was anything but sad. Kissing was fab and all, yet she adored spending time with her friends even more. "What are you doing? Something great, I'm sure. There's never a dull moment in the life of Catherine Dennison, I'm convinced of that!"

Vi had gotten... not lost, per se, on the way to the Ravenclaw tower but more so distracted as she caught sight of one of the older Gryffindor boys and let her feet take over controlling her body. It wasn't until she wound up in front of the Gryffindor with a very unimpressed Fat Lady staring down at her, proclaiming that no, she may not enter the common room that she realised that she wasn't where she was supposed to be. Whoopsies. "I'll be super duper good, I promise. No shenanigans. Best behaviour only, I promise," Vi said with what she believed to be her sweetest smile as she glanced up at the portrait with puppy dog eyes only to receive a withering glare back.
This was not going well and taking a step back as another Gryffindor student came over to say the password, Vi just knew there was no way she was getting into the common room. So she took on plan b which was to sneak furtive looks into the room every time the portrait swung back until she spied someone of interest which... ah, she did! Taking her window of opportunity, Vi sing-songed at the top of her lungs, "KITTY KAT, COME OUTSIDE AND JOIN ME SO I'M NOT SUPER DUPER LONELY, YOU SWEET THING YOU!" before putting her hands up in front of her innocently as the Fat Lady cleared her throat. "I didn't go in, I just asked someone to come out." Now it was just a matter of whether Kitty would or not.

"People are trying to outshine me with my compliments. I'm offended. I hope you think mine are better," Vi said jokingly, lips pulled into an exaggerated pout at the thought that he would like their compliments better than her own. Of course, a minute later she was giggling because that was just silly. She wanted Malachite to be complimented by every soul in the castle because he deserved every piece of love that was sent his way. "I love hearing the sweet, sweet sound of self-assuredness. Makes my heart sing with joy. Love yourself, and everyone should follow!" Vi was almost overtaken with the urge to swoop in and give Malachite a friendly smooch on the cheek but... maybe later. She needed to let the conversation progress a little further so she didn't super duper freak him out.
Her words had been teasing about the repeat outfits but as soon as the almost embarrassed expression was cast upon Malachite's face, Vi rushed to reassure him. "You look good! I mean, you do wear a lot of the same shades and tones but that's okay. Like, I always wear red lipstick. Except that time I wore blue." Gosh, and wasn't that a memory that made Vi's cheeks go pink - a sight that was rarely seen on her. When she'd lost her kiss-ginity for the very first time, she'd been wearing blue enchanted lipstick that had smudged all over her mouth... and she hadn't realised it until she'd shown up in Astronomy only for it to be pointed out by a Professor. Then when she'd tried to just wipe it off, she'd made matters worse because an enchanted lipstick needed an enchantment to scrub off her lips. Luckily she had good friends who'd helped her out. "But you super duper look enigmatic wearing all black. Like a very charming vampire."
"I wish I could be a smarty pants like you who can sit there long enough to actually study," Vi admitted, lips twisting up into a frown for a brief few seconds. Her attention span left something to be desired for. "Seriously, how do you do it? Like, I sit there and try and try but then the pages start all getting blurry and I think of more things I can do like... like... go and smooch someone or paint or play my guitar or - and then I just lose track of time and never end up studying for longer than five minutes in the end." Letting out a small huff, Vi dropped her head onto Malachite's shoulder because whilst there wasn't much out there that frustrated her - she liked to consider herself to be an easy peasy, go with the flow kinda gal - this did. "I need to study, but I want to paint. I mean, it's such a beautiful day, isn't it? I don't want to regret not studying."

At first when Vi had decided that yes, Malachite's legs were going to be a perfect seat for her today, she was half-expecting him to playfully shove her off. It had happened before with other people, so it happening again wouldn't be entirely out of the blue. She wouldn't have been offended either, different strokes for different folks and all that jazz, but maybe a little let down. Who didn't want to sit on such a lovely soul's knees? "Has anyone ever told you you're the sweetest fifth year Ravenclaw boy with black hair?" she teased, eyes dancing with amusement as she reached up to gently bop the tip of his nose. "I'm doing fabulous. Amazing. Wonderful. And you? Are you just spectacular?"
Light grey eyes scanning Malachite, Vi took in his figure before a slow grin crossed her face. "I adore your outfit today. All black. Felt like a change in pace, hey?" she joked. Most of the time, he was wearing black - it suited him, but sometimes Vi wished he'd wear a splash of colour like... a beautiful pale blue, maybe, to bring out the pretty shade of his eyes. "So, what're you doing today besides sitting there looking all wonderful?"
Vi knew the right answer for what she was doing today was studying. Her grades were slipping more by the minute and she was due to get pulled aside by a Professor any day now. She just had such difficulty concentrating in class and grasping certain concepts and by Merlin, she was truly an awful Ravenclaw when it came to the traditional sense of being a smarty pants. It didn't come naturally to her, something that very quietly niggled at her when surrounded by intelligent people all the time. So she really needed to study today... but in all honesty, that was unlikely to happen. The temptation to paint whilst the dorm room was basked in such beautiful soft, warm light was overwhelmingly strong.
It was an absolutely stunning spring morning, something Vi had discovered relatively quickly after blinking awake to the ever so pleasant sight of warm yellow sunlight streaming through the arched windows in the dormitory room. It was a great start to the day, if she did say so herself, and after throwing on a pair of well-loved overalls over a light-weight blue sweater, she bounced down the steps to share her adoration of the weather to anyone would listen. Maybe Archie, or Cassidy, or any Ravenclaw with a cutie patootie smile. It didn't really matter - she just wanted to share her excitement.
Moving into common room, Vi surveyed the small group of people in there, tapping the pad of her finger on her chin with a 'hmm' before her eyes fell onto Malachite. Somebody she had grown to consider to be quite a good friend over the last year - he was intelligent, a sweetheart, a bit of a worrywart... with the added bonus of being cute as heck. "Malachite!" she called with a grin as she practically broke out into a run, planting herself on his lap. "Anybody ever tell you that you absolutely light up whatever room you're in? For real. I mean, the sun is lovely but who needs good weather to put them in a good mood when you're about?"

Bounding into the Divination classroom which was always light and airy thanks to Astrid, Vi wore a smile on her red painted lips before taking a seat at the table next to Flora. It was a huge blessing that her best friend took this class with her because... well, she got to spend time with her BFF and wasn't that just marvelous? "You look b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l today, Flora-Galora," Vi chirped as she leaned across the table to bop Flora's nose with the tip of her finger. "How's your future husband? Can I sing first comes love, then comes the carriage yet or is it too early?"
Not long after her little attempt at chit chat, Astrid commenced the class by talking about palmistry, something Vi was incredibly interested in which was pretty rare when it came to class discussions. "I have an air palm shape, so super duper long fingers and a short, small kinda palm," she said with a very confident nod, holding her hand up and everything as if Astrid was going to come and inspect it to make sure.

With a hop, skip and a jump, Vi made her way into Muggle Studies, a chirpy smile on her face because she absolutely adored the class. It was one where you didn't have to be too smart - something that Vi definitely wasn't renowned for - and focused a lot around talking instead, something Vi was definitely known for. "Hey Professor Savage!" she greeted with a wave, before her eyes lit up as she took in the changed appearance of the room.
Oooohhh lounges. Much better than those stuffy, uncomfortable chairs that surrounded the room usually. Beelining towards a plushy three seater, Vi waved a couple of friends over so they could squeeze in next to her and she could use them as a makeshift pillow in the process. Then she turned her attention to the front, nodding as Professor Savage began talking about communication. "Oh, I've used a phone! One of my mum's is a muggleborn and so she's showed us all the fancy dancy stuff that muggles have used."

"I'm hurt you don't think my skating will top my kissing oh wait, no I'm not. I know what I'd rather be better at," Vi announced with a giggle, puckering her lips in Liam's direction and blowing him an air kiss. "The best snogger? Hmm… there were a few! Lots of good smoochie woochers out there. I like Elena the… maybe the best though cause that totally was like I got a double whammy - kissing someone new and one of my besties." Trying her darnedest to maintain her balance which was proving difficult whilst chattering, Vi couldn't help but laugh. "Are you gonna make me wait three whole years til you kiss me? Wow. Such a meanie weenie."
Liam was cackling at her so hard that Vi was surprised that he didn't break a rib and it was so infectious that she couldn't help but follow suit. Then he was able to drag himself up and said those words and immediately, the laughter halted and an affronted look crossed Vi's face. "Excuse me?" she said, hands planting on her hips from where she was sitting on the ice. "I'm not some fat… yeti, Liam. I'm not gonna break your back just cause I'm a few inches taller than Elena." Leaning forward, Vi clasped Liam's hand and in one foul move, she tugged him straight back down into the ice. He'd hurt her feelings so he could get a freezing butt in return.

Whilst Vi could accept that she wasn't the sharpest pencil in the pencil case, she had to admit that it stung that Nicolas was telling her that the fact that she couldn't get into the common room was bad, that she shouldn't rely on other people. What else was she supposed to do? She couldn't solve a riddle, she'd tried for years. She couldn't make herself smarter than she was. "You're relying on me to get you into the common room," she said quietly, moving backwards and away from his touch entirely. "You rely on me for a lot of things."
Instead of playing the role of the caring friend, one that immediately leaped to help Nicolas through whichever troubles he was facing that day, the one that wiped his tears and consoled him, Vi leaned against the wall instead and watched. She'd accio a bag for him, but he shouldn't have to rely on her to do that for him. He was a big boy, he could do it himself. "Okay," she said simply, arms moving to fold across her chest. "Well, I guess you're stuck waiting for the next person to come by and let you into the common room since I'm useless. Did you want me to wait around or...?"

"It's dandy to see you too," Vi replied brightly to Jedrek, grinning. It was always nice to get to know people outside of class - they were often so different, they were just... overall, less studious and focused on getting house points. They tended to be more relaxed and Vi liked that, given her permanent state of living was almost always relaxed.
He had tried to remember her name and for that, she gave him credit. "Ten points to Hufflepuff," she joked before laughing, quickly tacking on, "just kidding, I can't actually give out house points... if I could, all the super duper cutie patooties like you would just be earning points for smiling at me." Her words were flirtatious as she spoke this time and she wondered... would he even pick up on it?
Nodding at his suggestion of hanging out, Vi hummed brightly before asking, "So, what do you like to do? Besides sitting in front of a fireplace and doing nothing?"

Most people didn't like Professor Tyrell and that wasn't Vi being a meanie weenie or anything like that, it was just a fact. More people than not didn't like to go to her classes. Vi heard the angry mutterings coming from her fellow students every time they entered the classroom, especially from people like Agnes Clearwater and Greyson Avery who often had their big cranky pants at all times of the day.
Moving into the classroom, Vi greeted Professor Tyrell like she would any of the other ones, with a bright wave and a chirpy smile. "Hiya, Professor Tyrell! You look lovely today. Did you get your hair done?" she asked before sliding into the seat beside Mark Grimstone who was also looking positively handsome in all of his broody, long-haired glory.
Nudging him lightly with her elbow after setting up her parchment, quill and ink pot, she asked with a twinkle in her eye, "Wanna go smoochie woochie after this or am I not allowed to ask that? You know, since we're not friends and all." Then she turned her attention back to the front of the class where she listened to the Professor delve into all of the nitty gritty stuff of what they were doing today. Taking her quill from the ink pot, already getting a wee bit bored, Vi started to doodle aimlessly as the other students piped up to answer Professor Tyrell's questions.
