With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
While the morning had been rather quiet and constructive with her older students, Runa now prepared for her afternoon class with the younger ones. When letting students feed these rather energetic plants, even Runa put on some shoes for added protection. Wearing a well worn pair of wooden clogs, she distributed some carrots, raddish and potatoes between the workspaces. Once she was done, she removed the protective, reinforced mesh wire from around the plants with a flick of her wand, so the students could reach them. Only when everything was in place did she open the door to the greenhouse, put her hat back on and waited for the class to arrive.
”Good afternoon, class. Please take out your dragon hide gloves and listen well. We’re feeding Chinese Chomping Cabbage today and I don’t want any casualties today,” she announced once the students had gathered and she had shut the door.

It pretty much went, without saying, that Aggy was a very intelligent girl when it came to a lot of subjects. Unfortunately... Herbology wasn't one of them. She had zero interest in plants, and it would be one of the first subjects along with Astronomy that she would drop as soon as possible next year.
Concealing a yawn behind her hand, Aggy tried her very best to pay attention to the Professor at the front, pulling out her gloves as instructed and trying to smile at the prospect of feeding a plant of all bloody things, a dangerous plant at that. She couldn't be more excited... not.

If you asked Greyson what his thoughts about Herbology were, he'd tell you straight to his face that it was fucking boring because it was. It was a waste of goddamn time. Would learning about goddamn plants help him to attack another person or defend himself? No.
So with that thought in mind, Greyson arrived shamelessly late for the lesson as the other students had just finished pulling on their gloves. "Move your arse, short stack," he sneered as he pushed past Agnes Clearwater, shouldering the tiny redheaded goblin hard as he took his spot next to his brother.
Eyeing the plant at the front, he smirked. "You reckon some stupid 'puff'll lose their fingers?" he said to Gabe, not bothering to keep his voice down, and not really caring that his own twin was a Hufflepuff. They were, in Grey's opinion, the weakest bloody house in the entirety of Hogwarts. Bunch of marshmallows, the lot of them.
Suzie didn't have anything against Herbology per say she just wasn't that enthused about magical plants. She'd rather be practicing her ballet dancing. But here she was..getting an education like her family wanted her to have. She listened to the professor as she grabbed her gloves and started to pull them on over her hands. She definitely didn't want to lose her hand to a cabbage that sounded like the most lame way to lose a limb even if it is a magical cabbage. With a small sigh escaping her lips she quickly pulled her hair back into a ponytail to keep out of her face and..the cabbage before she looked to the professor and the rest of the class waiting.
And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain

The one class Cassidy was surely going to fail at and drop when she could was herbology. She never understood any of this and her mind always spun in circles trying to figure out what plants did what and why. It was like potions but worse. The girl was playing with her robes nervously as she stood there, listening to people and looking at the plants.
Damien wasn't the best at Herbology to say the least, even if he loved learning about nature, and all that it has to offer to those who enjoy it. The Hufflepuff made his way his to the Greenhouses, and had listened to Professor Skarsgard instruct them to use their Dragon Hide gloves, and without hesitation he put them as instructed. He didn't feel like ending up in the Hospital wing within the first week. His parents wouldn't enjoy that letter from Headmistress McGonagall.
The Hufflepuff had looked at the plants, and there was no lie he was nervous about feeding them. But he knew it would be needed if he wanted to get a good grade. He just hoped his gloves would work. Because he didn't want to have any sort of pain.
Was this some kind of a cooking class? Mark was about to turn around and leave again, before his eyes landed on the plants that stood upfront. He finally put two and two together and realized that they were not going to make a salad of the vegetables on their tables. They were going to feed the Chinese Chomping Cabbage. A very interesting plant, if you asked Mark. He could not help to hope that a few of his classmates would have forgotten their gloves, or were brave enough to feed them without. Some definitely deserved having their hands bitten off.
Mark found his own gloves and placed himself next to Suzie. A girl from his house but who was a year below him. He did not mind her at all, although he has never spoken to her. She has never gotten on his nerves, which was a huge plus so far. He did not say anything to the brunette, other than giving her a quick glance with a pair of dark eyes before correcting his gloves and grabbing the vegetables in front of him.
"As you can see, there are two cabbages to each flower bed. Please work together with a partner, but first focus on one, then the other." Runa put on her own gloves and picked up a raddish to demonstrate. The cabbages in her flower bed were snapping rather violently. "It can be rather tricky and I'd like you do try and see what works best. Just make sure you don't get too close with your fingers," she warned, as she watched the plant for a moment, then dropped the food into its mouth as it was opening up. She would have to clean up the whole green house later as she expected vegetables to fly everywhere, deflected from the violently chomping cabbages. It was always a big mess, this lesson.
"Please team up as follows: Ms Clearwater and Mr Avery, Ms Jones and Mr Grimstone, Ms Mason and Mr Cartwright."
Ari had been looking forward to Herbology, because she loved to work with plants. It was also good to work with nature despite not taking Care for Magical Creatures. But plants were just as interesting. The witch had listened as Professor Skarsgard had told them to that they would be working with partners, even if she wasn't the biggest fan of if it. But it didn't really matter, because she was looking forward to working with the plants. She just hoped that she could be actually nice.
When she spoke about how it was important for them to put on their gloves. The witch put them on, even if she knew pain couldn't hurt. Then letting out a chuckle when she mentioned they would be feeding Chinese Chomping Cabbages, and she knew it would be interesting. And when she looked at her cousin. The witch could tell that he was nervous, and she smiled. "You got this." even if she knew that he might not care.
And when they called up teams, the witch just waited until her name was called for a team.
Herbology wasn't her favorite subject, but to her, it was so much better than potions class. Perhaps it was because she wasn't a fan of the Tyrell family, and seeing the ice princess teaching potions, she wanted to drop the subject, and perhaps she will in the future. Once the professor had mentioned what they were doing, Casey had grabbed her gloves, her eyes finding her teammate for a moment. They worked together as a team on the Quidditch pitch, perhaps they can work together in the classroom too.
She had waited for the professor to partner the rest of the class up.

Today's lesson in Herbology was actually pretty spooky ooky and Vi watched with eyes as wide as saucers as she listened to Professor explain that today they'd be feeding the Chinese Chomping Cabbage, later demonstrating exactly how to feed them and cautioning them to watch their fingers. Their fingers?! She needed those more than anything for writing music, playing her guitar, painting. Vi glanced down at her hands, then back to the Professor before asking in a worried voice, "Professor, what... happens if they bite our gloves? How do we get out itty bitty fingers out? I quite like them!"
Then they were instructed to pair up and glancing around the classroom, Vi hummed before her gaze landed on a familiar face. Casey, a girl from her very own house. Bouncing over, Vi moved to stand next to her before suggesting brightly with a grin, "Wanna be partners? I need you to be all bravey wavy first 'cause I'm a kinda - okay, super duper scared of being chomped at!"
When Professor Skarsgard asked them to put on their gloves that would help them and give them the protection they needed for feeding the cabbage they were expected of them. Jedrek was ready and prepared to do what was needed of him, he simply looked around and didn't see his siblings or his friends there yet. He honestly wasn't holding his breath either, the less distraction the better for him.

Swearing beneath his breath as he half-heartedly ran towards the greenhouses, Alex knew he was late by at least a couple of minutes. He hadn't planned to be but it had been a struggle, a massive one, to actually get himself out of bed this morning... hell, it was a struggle most mornings. It just felt like this... gargantuan task, like it took every fibre of his being to get his exhausted body to move.
Pushing open the door, Alex cringed as it squeaked open. He tried to be as quiet as possible as he slipped beside another classmate, looking around cluelessly as he tried to figure out what they were doing. Herbology had never been his strong suit, and neither was talking up. He preferred to keep quiet because that way, he mostly went unnoticed.
Another boring class. Ugh, Dio hated that his mom and uncle forced him to attend more of these. Such a waste of time, he could be sleeping or smoking somewhere. Instead he was here. The best he could do was using his knife to carve little wolf figures from wood. By this time he was proficient enough with the knife to call it an extension of his body. The blonde Slytherin was just minding his own business, not really paying attention to the class. He sat somewhere in the back at a place where he wouldn’t really be noticed.
Then his presence was interrupted with a late comer. With an annoyed look on his face, he arched an eyebrow at the twig of a Ravenclaw. “Tsk, think you’re a cool kid now, Greenwater? Showing up late like a real rebel,” he chuckled in mockery and shook his head. “Nah, you’re just a little mouse. Not tough enough to skip class not motivated enough to show up on time. Such a waste.” Dio hated weak people, there was no excuse to be weak. You just had to work hard and become strong. ALEXANDER GREENAWAY,

Dio Greyback... it was a name that Alex remembered clearly. It was hard not to remember the blonde boy's name because somebody with the last name Greyback stood out, as did some who talked like that, treated people like that. Usually, when he was in the presence of the other boy, Alex tried his best to shrink down to the size of a peanut, to stay unnoticed. He had no interest whatsoever having Dio's attention on him, of being the Slytherin boy's latest victim.
But today, his shrinking didn't work and his late arrival to the class brought Dio's eyes sharp eyes to him, along with his razor blade tongue mocking him. It made Alex want to just... fade away into oblivion, but what else was new? "I'm... I didn't think I was being a cool kid, or... or a rebel. I'm not from Star Wars... or, uh..." Alex muttered, shaking his head as he trailed off. He was a nerd, yes, but Dio didn't need to know how much of one he was. It practically invited him to tease Alex even more in the future.
But then Dio said the words 'such a waste' and it felt like Dio had struck him fair across the face, leaving a burning handprint in behind. Alex stared without meaning to, his mind racing because shit, he really was a waste of space, wasn't he? He didn't contribute anything meaningful to society, didn't... "I... yeah, I... I guess I am. A waste of space," he agreed quietly, lips tugging into a frown. He wasn't about to grow a backbone and fight Dio on it, was he? Not when what the other boy was saying was true.
Stupidly though, Alex didn't quite think his words through as he said them next. "You, uh... you're always on time, right? You must be really motivated to do well."
