With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Runa had been standing with her back to the entrance of the hall, a drink in her hand, listening to the conversation of her colleagues when it happened. Suddenly there were shouts and the hall was pitch black in an instant. It took the dark haired woman a moment to understand what was going on. They were being attacked! She spun around, reaching out a hand towards where Almir stood next to her to touch him, just ot be sure he was still there. Nothing had hit her, but there were curses and spells flying through the darkness and glass, judging by the sound of it. And the screams! Her eyes wide she tried to penetrate the darkness, but there was just nothingness and the terrible screams of the children. The horrible screams of their pain and fear. Runa’s heart was hammering against her ribcage almost painfully. The shouts were echoing from every direction, piercing her brain and her heart. But then she heard O’Connor’s voice next to her. Protect. They needed to protect them. Let the others know. Fighting her frantic heart, Runa wrestled her wand out of her thigh holster with trembling fingers. They needed help. The hand that was holding onto Almir, formed into a fist, clinging to the fabric to ground her. When she focussed hard enough, she could smell earth and leather, the way he always smelled. With that thought in mind, she drew her wand and whispered the spell, the call for help, and a silver wolf appeared from the tip of her wand. It wasn’t much but when she held her hand close enough, she could see it in the dim shimmer of the patronus! But the ghost of a beast loped quickly out of the hall, leaving the same impenetrable darkness behind. The shouts were back, ringing in Runa’s ears. They had to do something while they waited for help. Not far away from her she could hear a call for help. ”Almir! We need to help them!” she called. Feeling around she found her friend’s hand. It might be a better idea for her to lead the way or the part giant might cause even more damage. For now though they had to figure out a way to get the students out. Still frightened out of her wits, she started to lead the way towards the gigantic double doors.

Dances were social events and like every social event the young woman had been to she was quiet, gave small smiles to people who greeted her and kept mostly to herself because she did not and would never like people either. The brunette rose her glass to her brother when she spotted him with his "date." The woman wasn't even judging because she heard about his little love bird outside the walls.. in the end they were both in the same ship.
Ariella was actually stunned for a second when she realized chaos was happening. Her eyes searched for her brother as she rushed his way while following Jack to stop these morons from destroying these kids's lives. A lot of trauma's were going to happen. "Ozzy take cover now!" she shouted at her brother hoping he could hear her. "And protect Parker!" she then reached for her wand and threw some defensive spells at the kid that decided to attack others.
"Stupefy." she hissed as she shot the spell at Miguel. It took her a few times to get him to drop his guard enough and get paralyzed. She grabbed a small vial she had strapped around her thigh and let him smell it before watching his mind go to sleep. At least for a little while.
There were cries of children and Ariella hated the noise. They needed to get the hell out of here. Ariella looked around but the darkness made her blind to whatever was happening around her. She barely even managed to hit the kid and find him to subdue him.
"Jack!" she called trying to find the man who probably would have some ideas on how to handle this. Ariella wasn't used to this chaos and for once she had a hard time keeping her head cool. While walking and struggling she tried not to hit any kids or step on any in the process. "Stay low!"
Leo rolled his eyes at the answer he received from his dorm mate at his call. "Just because I asked you for help, doesn't mean I want to snog you all the time! That stays between us, ok?" he explained. What was more, he wasn't going to dance with Matheus. Not a chance. That would only fuel the rumours even more and he definitely didn't want that. "Big chance there. Girls aren't into me," he deflected when Mat suggested that instead girls would go for him. That had never happened before and he doubted today would be any different. "Also I don't think I'm..." don't think I'm ready to move on yet, he wanted to say but just thinking about Ryker hurt so he dropped the subject. "...nevermind"
Trying his hardest not to look for Ryker again after he had scanned the crowd, Leo turned to Matheus instead, who, of course, had taken his question about food, completely the wrong way. On purpose no doubt. He was starting to regret asking Mat for help… ”Keep it down, will you?” he hissed, afraid others might hear the less than innocent comment. Now that he knew what he was talking about, Leo definitely understood, unlike the other day… ”Oh shut it,” he finally said, sure that his ‘friend’ was not going to stop teasing any time soon. But he did give him a cuff over the back of the head for being so annoying. He deserved that one. Following Mat to the food, he had just spotted some meatballs when it happened. The doors burst open, making him spin around to see what was happening. He could only just make out three people entering the hall with their wands raised before all hell broke loose. ”Down!” he shouted, before taking hold of Mat’s arm and dragging him to the ground with him. Then everything went dark. Things were breaking and spells fired, but even if Leo had been fast enough to get to his wand, he wouldn’t have dared to do magic. There were too many people he could injure. But the next thing he knew was a high pitched breaking sound when the decoration was blasted apart. Instinctively he shielded his face with his arms, but he felt cuts across his chest and arms as the glass shards hit. There was more crying. Crawling a bit further, feeling his way on the ground carefuly to not cut his hands open, he called ”Who’s there? Are you hurt?”

"Well, that just can't be right, Leo. Who wouldn't want to snog me all the time? Breaking my heart, man," Matheus said with dramatic gasp, hand flying up to cover his heart. His act of being offended dropped a minute later and he shook his head at Leo. "I don't kiss and tell, Leo. I may be a glorified slag, but I don't go around bragging about all the people who shove their tongue in my mouth. If I did, I'd never be able to talk about anything else." A bit of an exaggeration, yes, maybe but... well, he did have a long list of ex lovers, like that muggle woman sang about. The one with the whiny voice that Izobel liked so damn much and always got stuck in his head.
He was cuffed over the back of the head a minute later, and Matheus laughed loudly. So loud, in fact, he got shushed by a nearby student. Oh well! They were just lucky they didn't share a room with him. Then they'd be telling him to quieten down all the time. "It's shut, it's shut... though if you really want me to be quiet, school ties make handy gags," Matheus said with an innocent hum, his metaphorical halo shining just that little bit brighter.
It was only when he and Leo headed over to the table, that things went disastrously wrong. All of a sudden, Matheus was being yanked to the ground and under normal circumstances, he would have used that as an opportunity to say Leo was welcome to manhandle him anytime. But these weren't normal circumstances, and Matheus swore a blue streak underneath his breath because what the hell was going on?
Luckily, he managed to dodge the exploded decorations that got Leo, but he definitely felt them digging into his knees when he followed his friend's lead, crawling behind him. If he wasn't wearing dress pants, he'd definitely be cut up right about now, but instead the material got the brunt of the damage. It appeared they stopped right in front someone... or more than one person, maybe. Matheus let out a swear yet again because man, if only his halo was a real halo. Then maybe they'd actually be able to see whoever was in front of them. "Yeah, what Leo said. Here to lend a hand."
Rebecca wasn't sure if she was going to attend the dance or not. She didn't even have a date but she figured it couldn't hurt to check it out. She'd been at the dance for awhile now enjoying herself, and was considering looking for one of her friends when chaos erupted.
Becca screamed when shards of ice began flying in all directions. She felt one of them pierce her arm. She winced in pain and watched as her arm started to bleed from the wound made there. At that moment it became pitch black. Becca could hear students running for cover but she couldn't see a bloody thing. She didn't know how many other people might be hurt. She was a prefect and wanted to try and help her fellow students.
At the moment though Rebecca was at a loss of what to do, because it was dark and she couldn't see. However she knew it wouldn't do to just stand there while Hogwarts was being attacked for some unknown reason. She didn't know why this was happening but she needed to find a place to hide or somehow find one of her friends. Both sounded like difficult tasks at the moment due to the sudden darkness. The sixth year started running for cover blindly in the dark, until she crashed into somebody. "I-I'm terribly sorry. It's so dark. I can't see where I'm going. " she told the person.
Melinda didn't have a date to the dance but that wasn't going to stop the seventeen year old vampire from enjoying herself. A school dance seemed like just the sort of human experience she needed. She was hoping Matheus would be there too. They weren't really a thing, even though he did flirt with her from time to time.
As Melinda was swaying to the music she paused when suddenly the doors to the Great Hall burst open. Suddenly the dance erupted into chaos, students were screaming and running for cover. Not to mention that it was suddenly completely dark and Melinda couldn't see anything. She could hear spells being cast in all directions and the Gryffindor wasn't sure what to do. It was so dark that Melinda wasn't sure if she'd be able to find cover, not without stepping on someone anyway. The seventeen year old gasped in surprise and suddenly fell to the ground when someone's stupefy spell hit her.
Yes, he knew that he had arrived famously late, but that did not matter. He had perfected his look till the smallest detail. One might consider his skirt to be more fitting for Bellatrix Lestrange, but Willow did not care the slightest. These kind of parties allowed him to express himself in ways a boring school uniform could never do. He was so much more than a robot of the society Hogwarts was created under. And this way, he could be his fabulous self. Heavy eye-makeup, silver jewelry, black coloured nails, a witchy skirt and plateau faux-leather boots that made him look like the Slender Man.
He arrived just in time to see silly dances and his blue eyes landed immediately on his best friend on the dancefloor with a common housemate. He sent Gemini a wide grin as he moved towards the drinks table, not wanting to interrupt the two of them. Willow could grab a dance with her later. Instead, he found something deliciously sour, smoking and green to drink and stood with his back to all of the glasses, sipping the beverage that made a ghostly dance around his face as he watched people with a few chuckles escaping his lips now and then.
Willow did not get to dance with his best friend. In fact, he was sure that this was the time he would take his last breath. Everything happened so quickly. Lights went out, explosions, screams and then suddenly the table behind him blasted. At least that was what he thought. Shards of razor-sharp glasses flew around him, several scratching his back and even stabbing him like daggers.
The boy fell forwards, planting his face right at the floor. He could feel thick blood run down his nose from his forehead, but the wound was nothing compared to how his back felt. It was indescribable. He could not move. He could not scream. He just lay on the floor as a pool of blood began to form around him. He could hear every single beat of his heart as an echo in his ears, and his throat felt too hoarse to call for help. He just managed to mumble;

"I am pretty sure that I could say I needed to change my pants and you'd think it was hot," Alana had to laugh when her girlfriend told her to speak dirty to her - Alana cursed a lot in both Italian and English but dirty was not within her repertoire at the sweet age of sixteen. With an eternity ahead of her though, Alana couldn't say that it would never be indulged. "You look absolutely stunning in a dress. Look at the way that it caresses the slender slope of your back," Alana traced her finger down Kaylie's spine appreciatively.
Alana nodded that she would love to dance and the pair were just making their way from the grand entrance to the dance floor when chaos took over the event. Alana could smell the blood in the air; any normal human would be able to but to her... her hands squeezed into Kaylie as Alana began to lose control of her hunger. She'd prepared herself for a wonderful night... but this amount of blood... the chaos... Alana turned to Kaylie, "I... do you have your wand?" the vampire asked desperately just as everything went black. "I can't ... there's so much blood," her speech was hardly audible above the various yells and screams... and she pulled Kaylie closer into her and in a desperate move, Alana sunk her teeth into her girlfriend's neck.
She could control this... right? After a couple of gulps, Alana left her mouth to fill with blood rather than sucking Kaylie dry.
Ari knew that a lot of her friends thought she was clearly insane, because she had not been a fan of dating or guys in general to be honest. The witch didn't have time to date, even if some guys sparked her interest and the girl knew she couldn't deal with a guys possessiveness. Turning to Flora who spoke about the older Avery's not being so bouncy, "I guess your right, although I would prefer Gabriel, in regards to the Avery twins." she said with a chuckle. He seemed like a nice guy after what he do for Flora during the Quidditch match, "And it is a depressant that shouldn't even be one at all. I know my sister drinks it all the time, just to forgot the pain. But honestly it just's a way to stall. That's why you'll never see me drinking in my life." she said with a smile. Giving her a friend, a look after Flora went on about how she didn't remember her name, and how she had the personality of a brick, if she cannot remember her name. The witch gave a look and she said. "Why's that? And maybe she didn't have time to give her name. But it's hard to make a judgement if I don't know who she is. But honestly no one can be worse than my brother in regards to having the personality of a brick. I don't even know how he became a prefect, but either way we can try to forget about it." she said giving her a reassuring smile on her face.
When she watched Flora's reaction to her telling her that guys could be ten times more possessive looked like. "Well if you want an idea? It's a guy getting mad at the fact that we are not spending every waking hour with him, and just trying to spread his masculinity everywhere he went, and from what I heard from sister's ex is kinda like that. But like I said I suppose she had good reason for doing what she did." she said giving Flora, a shrug even if it sounded messed up. Letting out a chuckle when he friend mentioned that she would certainly oblige if that Hufflepuff were to ask her out, "And who is that charming Hufflepuff?" she asked hoping that at least he was a decent guy. If Ari was being honest, it would be nice if she had a guy who decent, but she didn't feel like getting strayed on the straight and narrow path that she set herself on. Giving a chuckle when Flora told her that her brother made her cynical. "You have no idea, I question how the hell where related. It would be really nice if they had an agency for replacing our siblings if we disliked them. But we can't be that fortunate, and I swear that the only thing Cooper and I share is our blood and last name." she said giving Flora, a semi happy smile. Ari in many ways didn't want to spend her night, even thinking about Cooper because it would just piss her the hell off. And when Flora asked that he couldn't be all that much of a ladies man. "I don't think he is. But I am afraid his track record says otherwise, and if were being honest. Who could even find him the most attractive, is beyond me. The only thing he has going for him is his Quidditch skills, which I don't think he has." she said with a sigh on her face, and as far as she was concerned. Cooper's good side left a long time ago.
She had been definitely happy that Flora was here for her to spend time with, and it caused Ari to smile. "I am glad you are here. And I hope one of us could make up for my suckish dance moves. The two good things I am good at is school and Quidditch." she said giving her friend a smile. Even if she loved dancing, but dances were not always her thing, but she was going to have fun tonight. And after Ari gave the compliment gave her the compliment of the dress, she smiled. "Your welcome, and do tell your secret." she smirked. The girl loved to hear her friend's secret it was one of the few girly girl things she enjoyed. "Well if your dress doesn't catch his eye then it's his own fault. But I think you definitely will blow him away when he sees you." she said, but before she could say anything she mentioned that he was coming. "As you wish, but what's wrong with scoping him out for my friend?" she said with chuckle. The girl loved being the type if her friend's didn't heave her advice. She would try to investigate and see if they passed her test.
Watching Flora speak to Richard, she just sat and gave them both reassuring smiles. And Flora introduced herself Ari looked before giving him a small smile, "It's nice to meet you." hoping that this wouldn't be bad even if she didn't mind third-wheeling.
But her thoughts were soon interrupted by a huge BANG!.
And she definitely was shocked and she said, "What the hell was that? I really hope people didn't think this place called for a good prank." she said thinking it as very rude for people to do this. But before she could do anything she heard Flora call, and she ducked. Although she soon felt something hit her arm and her knee, and she shouted. "Dammit," she said wincing in pain hoping to stay close to her friend and Richard, well she at least hoped they were still close as everything was pitch black. But her friend shouting for sister's name definitely confirmed that. For a moment, Ari actually cared about Cooper's safety, which was probably the only time she'd ever do that.
The hall in pitch black was definitely in chaos, and she could see certain lights of spells flashing. She definitely wished that she had ditched the dance for the night, because she didn't feel like dying tonight, and when she heard Flora mention that she didn't her mind. Hoping they were still near the witch tried to see if she could a light charm. "I can try to cast something," she said as she tried to say."LUMOS." but nothing worked and she looked before she would saying something. "I definitely should not have come to this tonight, and I think we should stay low or something. And what the hell did they even use that we cannot perform a charm or something." she said wincing in pain as both her arm and leg hurt hoping that Flora and Richard were still near. Because she didn't feel like being alone now, while she awaited their safety.
With two of the attackers taken out, Jack heard Ariella's voice call his name across the room but there was still anarchy, spells being thrown, heart-wrenching screams being pulled from the students themselves. What the... "HELP AS MANY AS YOU CAN! ZOE, YOU TOO!" he shouted back, right before he heard Runa's whisper of expecto patronum as she sent word to the Ministry, the patronus producing a silver, shining light that... that broke through the seemingly impenetrable darkness, at least for a few seconds.
Immediately, Jack whirled around to Runa before she started walking away from him. She'd just solved a massive problem, helped in a major way. Reaching out, he placed a gentle hand on her arm and whispered, "Runa, do that again. I'll do it too." There were other members of his faculty that he knew could cast this spell as well, but he assumed once they saw Runa and himself cast the spell, they'd follow suit. He just hoped those who couldn't cast expecto patronum would take advantage of the light.
Trying his very best to focus on what he was about to do, on his happiest memory, Jack withdrew his wand, drawing the circles in the air and casting his patronus - a blinding, silver border collie that gave some light to the room for the others to see. He heard the footsteps of Almir and Runa travelling away from him, towards... the doors, maybe, and he just hoped that they could get them open. If there was a route out of here, the student's would be safe.

Sebastian was a little later than his coworkers to the winters ball, but he certainly hadn't been late. He'd done a sweep of the Ravenclaw tower, checking who was going and who was staying before also doing a bit of a patrol around the castle. He didn't want too many unaccounted for kids since the curfew had been adjusted for the Winter Ball. He may have been dragging his feet a little since he already had assumptions as to what the night would be like. No fun for him and all the fun for the teenagers, that sounded about right. He slipped through the closing doors, giving the two prefects closing them a jolly smile that stretched across his face but didn't quite reach his eyes. He noticed the teachers milling around and thought about mingling with them but gently reminded of his role at the event as a young lady brushed past him in tears. He frowned and turned to follow her, his eyes softening as one of her friends intercepted her.
He'd already been informed about the spells on the punch bowl, so he wasn't too concerned about minding the punch...more about the relationships that would end and begin this very night, that would affect his classes. Sebastian gave a small sigh as he moved through the crowd. He didn't get too far until the heavy doors were flung open. His wand was in his hand instantly as he pulled it from his sleeve, whirling around. He managed to see the faces of the older students, split into two groups before the world was plunged into darkness. The noise rose to almost deafening standards as the children began to scream or yell. He cursed loudly, his mind whirling for a spell that would help him forward. He knew Jack was closer to the trio headed by Theo, already deciding to head straight for the doors. They were the only way anyone could leave, the attackers had planned well. He caught the site of a patroni nearby and it clicked into place. "Expecto patronum!" He hissed, summoning up his happy memory that bled into the corporeal patronus that lunged out of his wand. It was a rather large wild dog, his animagus form. It already knew what he wanted, leaping towards the students barricading the door.
He followed after, using the light as to not step on the students. Sebastian knew the instant that Hugo and co had noticed his approach, casting protego and deflecting the other spells upwards. His patronus darted around the attackers, providing guidance to where Sebastian should and shouldn't aim for. He duelled all three inexperienced students, their numbers being unfortunate but not too challenging. Hugo especially was more vicious than he'd expected from the quiet kid but it wasn't long before he had all the three stunned and roped up. He approached the students removing their wands from their hands and pocketing them as his patronus dimmed. The door was all clear now, the threat hopefully removed but Sebastian didn't want to be too presumptuous. He was torn between searching for any stragglers from the attacker group and staying to help guide the kids out. Words: 532 Notes: sorry this is sucky

Almir was enjoying the night surrounded by friends. Nothing could have prepared him for what was about to come. The lights went out and tree ornaments hit his forehead. Only then the COMC teacher knew shit went down. “Runa, where-?” The part giant panicked when he couldn’t find Runa right away. Then screams started to echo through the hall and curses flew around their ears. This was horrible, Almir wanted to help but he couldn’t see a thing. Even his part giant genes didn’t help seeing in the dark this time. Fearing he might crush someone’s toes if he moved, he stayed where he was. It seemed Runa found him first, when her hand touched his fabric, he took it and squeezed it tightly. “Don’t let go,” he told his dear friend in fear of losing her. Almir drew his wand and started casting protective charms which unfortunately was all he could do for now.
The light of her patronus lit the place temporarily. This gave him the chance to protect the surrounding students better but only for a short amount of time. When the light faded again, Runa and he started to move. He carefully followed her lead as quick as he could. It was a challenge navigating through the dark. He might have accidentally bumped into a few people. Even with the use of his rather large Swedish Short Snout patronus. Happy thoughts. The first sleepover with Runa at his place. His mother having backed oversized sugar cookies. By the time they arrived at the blocked door, Sebastian also had made his way over. The kids blocking the door had been defeated by the Transfiguration Professor. Almir didn’t hesitate to open the door to make it possible for students to move out. “Gate clear!” He used his bouldering voice to alert the room. Then he turned to Runa, giving her a quick nod before turning to Sebastian. “We’ve got this, buddy. Go and catch ‘em,” he said as he started guiding students out. “Alright come along.”
Narrowing his eyes he started searching for the most injured people in the room. Almir wanted to carry them to the infirmary as quickly as possible. “If anyone is with someone in immediate need of help please raise your hand!”
We'll skip the part about how Zoe occasionally let her eyes wander to the handsome figure her coworkers cut in their suits or the delicious way that fabric fell from the ladies figures. We'll skip a couple of times that Zoe had danced with a first-year group or even some of the sillier older students.
Instead, we'll plunge into the darkness that had Zoe plucking out her wand from the tops of her lace-topped tights with no regard to being careful what was flashed - she couldn't see the tip of her nose let alone anything else! Zoe attempted to cast Lumos and a myriad of other charms to no avail... when Jack told her to help people she rolled her eyes and muttered "fat fucking chance" but that's when a sliver of silver light cut through the darkness. Patroni! Zoe let her mouth fall open for a moment of awe and at that moment she hated herself because several other patroni joined the first and she could finally see Sebastian and Almir handle the door.
The witch stepped out of her heels and ran to the middle of the room. If she stepped on any sharp objects, it didn't matter; as a child in Australia, she routinely stepped on prickles that appeared to have been invented in Hell itself. If she stepped on a fallen child, it was only very brief - she had long legs and a light step that meant she made it to the middle of the room quickly. "VENTUS!" Zoe called, realising that the children had probably used that stupid Peruvian dust. All they needed to do was disperse the damned stuff out of the room. After an initial gust out of the grand entrance doors, the Great Hall appeared to be in dense fog rather than engulfed in darkness.
"VENTUS!" Zoe said with another twirl of her wand; the wind sent even more of the darkness out of the hall. It was now clear enough that Zoe could see why her feet were so sticky. She saw the prone body of a young student; that Hufflepuff kid with a hippy-dippy name. "Shit! MATRON!" Zoe fell to her knees beside the boy and began working with the healing spells that she did know. Episkey wouldn't quite cut it for the larger wounds, but Zoe called bandages from the tip of her wand and applied pressure to the largest spot. "Don't worry kiddo, we've got you," with her free, wand hand, Zoe cast one more "VENTUS!" to clear the hall and heard Almir's call for the wounded.
"We need help here!"
PLEASE NOTE: THE HALL IS NO LONGER IN PITCH BLACK DARKNESS - people can now see easily Please also note: Zoe is well aware there's Ventus duo/trio but many smaller gusts of wind are preferable, for the safety of the children than one large miniature cyclone! TAG: WILLOW MAE
When the bright light of a cat patronus scampered past Jack, he was able to see Headmistress McGonagall's face and the solemn expression that had taken over her face. Moving beside him, she debriefed Jack in hushed tones that she'd sent further word to the Ministry of Magic to inform them that she'd lifted the anti-apparition enchantment, allowing the aurors easier and faster access into the castle for an hour.
Nodding curtly, Jack watched as McGonagall moved towards the hospital matron who was rushing towards the doors that Almir had opened for them after Sebastian had subdued the three students who had been guarding them. In the next split second, light flooded the room and Jack eyed Zoe from across the hall, holding her wand before... tending to a student that was on the ground, appearing to be bleeding out. Since she already had that covered and she was calling Almir's name and for the matron McGonagall had just updated, Jack took control of the rest of the room. "PREFECTS ONLY! If you are not injured, please assist the injured students to the hospital wing. Professor Skarsgard, I trust you can assist the prefects along with Professors Askeland and Savage," he said, his voice becoming loud and booming as a result of the silent sonorus charm he'd cast on it. "Professors Narro, Avery and Spinnet. Please gather the rest of the student body near the grand staircase outside of the great hall."
Walking over to the two Professors he hadn't addressed over the speaker, he said quietly to Sebastian and Ariella, "If the two of you could please supervise those who have been subdued until the aurors arrive any minute now... that would be greatly appreciated. We need to make sure none of the other students try to get to them in the meanwhile."
With the orders loud and clear, there was a bunch of loud clicks and the next thing he knew, several aurors had apparated directly into the great hall and Jack watched as McGongall debriefed a few, before he went to go talk to one himself, recounting the night's events.
List of injured students for prefects to assist: WOLFGANG KALLENBACH - knocked out @damien - stabbed EMIL ZALEWSKI - broken leg GRACE LONGBOTTOM - bleeding heavily from arm @sam - hit head on ground OLIVIA JONES - tree on top of her, broken arm @edmund - on ground, stampeded SALLY JORDAN - stupefied, knocked out @cooper - turned into an ice statue @rebecca - bleeding from arm @melinda - knocked out, stupefied @willow - severely injured, being assisted @ari - injured arm and leg @mariah - bleeding, right side

It had been a quiet night in the makeshift auror HQ in the room above The Three Broomsticks. Richard had been sitting in a recliner, whittling a wooden figurine of a fox to pass the time. He had to stay up until the lights of the Great Hall would go out, signaling to him that the Winter Ball was over and everyone had been sent back to their bedrooms. He was in for a long night. When he had been a student it had never ended before 1 o'clock, when teachers had to threaten deduction of large amount of house points to get the rowdier seventh years to cease-and-desist. Of course, some of them returned to their beds even later, after being chased out of a broom closet by a professor or one of the more sociable ghosts. Or the Bloody Baron, whose presence could turn anyone off.
Knowing this, Richard was quite confused when he couldn't see the windows of the Great Hall before the clock struck midnight. He got up from his chair and walked over to the window, looking into the darkness and waiting. He was expecting flashes of light, maybe in different colors -- the Weird Sisters were performing after all -- but all he saw was lights in the towers and the sleepy town right under his feet.
Then he saw a light moving towards him. It wasn't the yellow shimmer of oil lamps, no, it was a bright silver. Seconds later a ghastly wolf formed in the middle of the room, delivering a short message. An attack at the Ball.
"Fuck!" Richard exclaimed, grabbing his wand from the table and hurrying down the stairs. He demanded a broomstick from the owners, but before they could even locate one, another patronus reached him, this time a cat. It spoke in a voice all too familiar - his transfiguration teacher, now the Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall. An hour open for apparation in and out of the castle. Richard didn't waste a second, materializing in the Entry Hall.
The doors to the Great Hall were wide open. Three students lay outside, guarded by a teacher he didn't know. Behind him, a scene from the end of the world was unfolding. The giant Christmas tree had fallen, broken glass shimmering and shining all across the room. Tables were turned over, food and drink spilled all over, children crying, blood on the floor, all that was missing was dramatic music.
He was the Wanderer, and this was his Sea of Fog.
What the bloody hell.
Wand gripped in his glove-clad hand, Richard stepped into the Great Hall, assessing the situation. First off, what the hell, then who the hell, and later why the hell. He needed the whole department here. His patronus appeared and flew right back out the door, hurrying towards London. Now he had to find someone to clarify the situation, and there was only one man he knew would have kept his calm during all of this.
"O'Connor!" Richard yelled out after spotting the other wizard and rushed towards him. "Explain."
