With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Alicia was striding over towards that chump Greyson with the attitude problem and apparently early-on-set-alcoholism. Honestly, Alicia was about to send a message to the kid's Uncle, who should be ashamed of his nephew for a myriad of reasons. "Master Avery...!" Alicia began, just as the Christmas Tree fell and the moment the ice sculptures on the table began to explode, Alicia cast a protection charm just in time to protect herself from a large shard of ice that came hurtling towards the pair of them. "Merlin!" the place plunged into darkness and Alicia cast a number of charms in order to see but none worked.
The bright silvery lights of patroni cut through the darkness though and Alicia was quick to add her own - a sabertooth tigress - pounced out of her wand and went to protect Alicia's two first-year children. She heard the pained mutterings of the Head Boy, Emil, and thankfully the other professors sorted out the door and lights quickly enough. "Emil needs help over here!" Alicia called out to Almir and Runa, "do not move. Use the ferula charm while you wait for the matron to get to you. It'll help this... mess." Alicia's seen worse, but usually, it was at a Quidditch pitch after being hit by a bludger at top speed, so she awkwardly stretched a hand out to the Head Boy's head and... patted it. "Good... yes. I have to go now."
Alicia felt like she was swallowing shards of glass as she fought back the memories of The Battle as she walked up to the Great Hall, her long flowing yellow dress moving with the gusts of wind from the Muggle Studies Professor. She quickly located her own two children, thanks to the imposing Patronus that stood over them and it didn't take much to see they were mostly OK. The Patronus disappeared with a wisp and Alicia turned her attention to the instructions that the Deputy was calling out to her.
Casting a sonorous charm, Alicia continued to walk up the Hall. She paid little mind to the new adults that flooded in from the outside. "Ok kids - you heard the man! IF you're not hurt - and I mean hurt enough to be hospitalised," Alicia had a face on her that clearly showed the 'I have no time for a bunch of pussies', "then get yourself over to THE GRAND STAIRCASE. If you are assisting someone - come to the stair case as soon as help comes." Alicia watched as the children started to comply with her orders and she'd just in time come to where Jack was being confronted by two Aurors.
"I don't know WHO you think you are, you tall piece of piss, but you'd better hold your tongue when addressing our DEPUTY because HE'S top dick around here, not you," she snapped, standing in front of DEREK VAN LEEUWEN for a good damned moment with her no-nonsense mum-face on and yes, she had her pointy finger out at him. "So check your attitude at the door and let's get on with business, shall we?"
Turning on her heels, making her damnedest sure that her long 'fro swished in his hair as she went back to herding the children out of the Great Hall. "Right, Wagtail - stop it with the foul language and a three-year-old tantrum, no one cares. Selwyn's right." Alicia gave Vinda a curt nod; she didn't have much to do with the snooty student but they were two capable young people that needed to get their selfish shit together.
"I need two runners from each house; one will have a list of their housemates, the other will liaise with the matron to make sure every student is accounted for. We need to check off names as quickly as possible. Any volunteers?"

It was like a flash, a few minute chaotic flash before the boy she knocked out with her potion was on the ground, light shining through the hall once again and then the ministry showing up like someone unleashed the dogs. Now Ariella had nothing against some of them but she was sure there were a few political assholes in the lot of them. She tied up the boy and left his unconscious body with the others like she was taking out the trash and checked her hands before her eyes found the ministry officials.
"Of course." she mumbled under her breath and headed over to the one auror she wouldn't snap the head off. "It's a mess isn't it." she wanted to just hug him right there but she had to remain professional, they both do. "Before you ask, no I'm not injured." she assured him and looked around at the chaos of children. One of the professors was barking orders like a mother tried to calm down her children which was... useful enough.
"Casey is unharmed, she left the dance with her date before anything could happen. I haven't seen your brother but I don't think he is hurt okay?" she assured Donovan and handed him the vial. "I gave the offender a whiff of this. The smell will knock your lights out so don't sniff it." she added and watched a guy shout at Jack for no good reason.
"What's his problem?" she asked and looked around. She heard Jack say her name and gave him a nod. "He's over there with the others." she said before the other professor went a bit batshit on the ministry guy. Where was the popcorn when you needed it.
Maximus was prepared for another night of the endless succession of nights. Meaning he had prepared himself a bottle of alcohol (he'd disciplined himself to one bottle of heavy drink per week so it was a lighter beverage on all other days), a crystal glass and a file from the archive. Some might consider it strange, but like other people read crime novels or thrillers, Maximus enjoyed reading files of people from previous cases, some resolved, some undisclosed. Stretching out his long legs in front of him, feet on the coffee table, he opened tonight's file of Gordon Redfield.
It was just when he had gotten up to open the window for his cat Tiger to get back inside that the summons reached him. Immediately Maximus' blood started pumping like it always did when they were called upon for an emergency. And this one was at Hogwarts, too. Summoning his well used traveling cloak, Maximus sprinted out of the house, taking just enough time to lock the door, before he disapparated in the alleyway next to his flat.
Arriving in the entrance hall, the auror took in the state of chaos and panic. This was bad. Quickly his eyes scanned the scene. He saw students leaving the great hall, some sporting minor injuries and prefects were taking care of those, but the shock was clearly visible on their faces. Next he saw a couple of students subdued on the ground and next to them was his old colleague. Immediately he made a bee-line for him. "Samuels, the attackers, I presume?" he asked without preamble. "Is this all of them?" his eyes scanned the hall, seeing kids with more serious injuries, teachers and his dear colleagues questioning O'Connor. Who would've thought that they'd meet again so quickl.... His eyes snapped back to Samuels. "There's a vampire among the students. Where's she? There's too much blood, we might not have seen the end of this fiasco," he warned now suddenly aggitated. If he remembered correctly, she was a blonde. They needed to take her out of the hall and away from the potential victims.
Melinda opened her eyes after what felt like minutes or seconds later, she wasn't exactly sure. She was relieved to notice that the lights had come back on. Slowly everything was coming back to her. She was knocked out by someone's stupefy spell and the dance had been attacked. The blonde vampire slowly and shakily got to her feet.
At that moment she heard the flying Professor announce that students who weren't injured should head over to the grand staircase. She may have been knocked out earlier but that probably didn't require a trip to the hospital wing, did it? As far as the seventeen year old could tell she wasn't bleeding and Melinda was more than looking forward to this whole ordeal being over with.

This motherfucking cup was still stuck to his goddamned hand like Gabe was to their little wimpy girlfriend of his, and Greyson was growing more pissed by the minute 'cause... for real? Who was Hogwarts to decide he couldn't have a cheeky beverage or two? Conservative dickheads, the lot of them. But then some little... well, big bad wolf who usually had a shiny Head Boy badge proudly pinned to his chest, came over to harp on about how he should have listened and luckily for Grey, he still had one free hand which he gladly used to give the dude a one finger salute. Arsehole. His finger was still poised mid-air when that flying Professor bint came over to no doubt give him another earful.
But then the chaos happened just as Jun and some Weasley girl (seriously, they bred as badly as the Tyrells, that lot did) arrived. Muttering a 'hey,' Grey watched with his cup stuck to his hand as Mr. Head Boy decided to play hero and run at the attackers. "Good luck, Harry!" Greyson called after him sweetly. Seriously, who did this bloke think he was? The boy who bloody lived? Unfortunately, Grey didn't see the result of the dude's heroics because they were soon catapulted in darkness.
Next thing he knew, Greyson was being ordered to go behind Jun and screw that. It wasn't that Greyson wanted to be a hero, it was more than he didn't particularly give two flying shits if he got hit with a spell. Bring it on, he said! But then Jun's voice, shaky, cut through Greyson's fantasy, as did the surprisingly steady voice of Weasley. "Don't wet your knickers, mate. You'll be right," Greyson said, before... deciding to cut the selfish act because he may have wanted to die a gruesome death, but the two next to him probably had a decent reason to live. Pulling his wand, he told Weasley, "A scouring charm ain't gonna do shit. Help with this bloody shield... shit." With that, Greyson barked out 'protego!' and his own spell worked alongside Jun's, protecting them from the spells being thrown.
Then... just like that, it was over. Besides the bright lights of protegi (like Greyson'd ever cast one of them) illuminating the terrified faces of the others, Greyson didn't see what happened, but he heard O'Connor's voice, then the voice of Spinnet ordering them about like they were her little puppy dogs. Nudging Jun, he said to him and Weasley, "Do one of y'wanna try rip this bloody cup off my hand? Or try melt the ice back into the drink? I'm thirsty." He definitely needed a stiff drink after tonight too.
He was ready to admit being late, he was ready to be looked at weird for just saying something like that outright with other people present, he was ready for a lot of things. Having the compliment more or less returned to him was not something he was prepared for. Almost stuttering on a reply he looked over to Ariella, of course knowing her. ’’I do know Arielle by her looks and name Flora.’’ He would have kissed the back of her hand trying to come over as pleasant as possible, but he didn’t know if it would seem silly or not, which is why he stuck to what he hoped was a charming smile. ’’Pleasure to make your acquaintance seeing as we haven’t had a chance or reason to speak yet Arielle. I might borrow you for a dance tonight if I’m not too busy leading Flora across the room.’’ The last bit was added with a wink, not that he got any further than that.
A loud BANG sounded and his ears kept ringing.
Everything went to hell in a handbasket if you asked him what was going on, that would’ve been his answer. Vaguely being aware that he was being pulled by his suit closer to where Flora had been before he couldn’t see anymore. Covering her and Arielle as good as he could he felt a few things hit him, slice him or effect him in general. That along with trying to make sense of the sounds, the ringing of the explosion still playing with his ears. A cold stinging sensation travelled up his ribs and he could feel something warm seep into his clothes along with pain while breathing, while that was going on he could hear Flora say she couldn’t see anything, to which he disagreed. He saw stars lots of stars. Not the exploding spellfire kind of stars either.
His left leg couldn’t support his weight anymore and he wondered what had happened to it, only to find that thinking made the stars in his eyes worse. Taking a firm hold of his wand he couldn’t help bit drag Flora with him as he started falling. Her voice was hoarse as she said she didn’t have her wand. His mind registering that Arielle was trying to light her own wand , followed by murmurs, or so it sounded to Richard he tried to speak up himself. His voice broken and clearly in pain he managed to get a few words out. ’’Flora, I’m not going to be able to help, I got hit, by what I don’t really know. Take my wand and keep the two of you safe…you were the reason I came anyway. Glad I managed to protect the girl I like.’’
Richard forced with his last willpower his hand against Flora’s, in doing so he hoped she’d take hold of the wand that was in his own hand. If anyone asked him what he had said to her he hoped he got it right and that he hadn’t said anything stupid, or too much. His consciousness left him with somewhat of a smile on his lips, making him feel he at least had accomplished something that night. Keeping the girl he secretly liked safe.

Skylar was about to head over toward the Grand Staircase, following the rest of the students who hadn't been injured--he could thank his reflexes from Quidditch training for the flying cups he'd dodged before everything went dark--when he walked past the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, hearing something that stopped him in his tracks. "...all of them have siblings...the Ministry's legislation..." Suddenly, it felt like Skylar was one of the ice sculptures before they had been destroyed, the realization hitting him like ice. If they had asked him, would he have joined their attack? Would it be him laying on the ground surrounded by Aurors, instead of in wet clothes but unharmed?
He didn't think he would've done it, if they asked him, and maybe that was why they hadn't asked, but he couldn't help but wonder if maybe he could've been persuaded. He wanted to say that he felt safer without werewolves around--because he did; the first attack had happened in his first year, and had definitely rattled the optimistic young boy. But if someone offered him the chance to have his brother back? That would be very tempting, and he knew it.
Then another thought hit him like a shard of ice. Morgan! He hadn't gone together with his sister to the dance, of course, and he couldn't remember if he had seen her attending. But could she have been one of them? Would she have taken the chance to protest that Skylar didn't? His heart beat faster and faster. Even though he knew Professor O'Connor was busy, he needed his question answered before he started picturing the worst. "Professor!" he cried, grabbing onto O'Connor's sleeve. "Have you seen Morgan? Is she... was she part of it?" He didn't trust himself to be more detailed.
The next thing Jack knew, Alicia Spinnet, their new flying Professor, was storming by and giving Derek a complete and utter tongue lashing. Merlin's beard, Jack knew from watching her Quidditch games that he shouldn't get on her bad side, but... it was nice to see that she had his back, even though he could and he would defend himself. Instead of chastising her, Jack just gave her a curt nod before she moved off to get control of the kids, and gave Derek a shrug because despite how... harsh the words came across, she wasn't wrong and if he had an issue with her 'professionalism,' then Jack would tell him to look in the goddamn mirror and the way he'd just been acting.
A tugging of his sleeve had Jack whirling around and he came face to face with a frantic Skylar Reid, worry written all over his features. "Earlier, she was with the young twins, Ryker and Elijah. I don't believe she was apart of it and I didn't see her among the injured either, Skylar," Jack said, but even if she was... he wouldn't divulge that type of information to the young boy. "If you go over there with Professors Spinnet, Avery and Narro, they should be able to assist you further whilst I speak with the aurors. They can call her over if need be, okay?"
With that, Jack's eyes swept over the rest of the room and he spied Ariella relaying the information she had to Mr. Stevens. "Professor Tyrell, now that those students are in safe and capable hands, please see to the injured as well," he called because... the list of the injured was growing, and there were only so many uninjured prefects. He heard Alicia's call for 'runners' though, and she had it covered.
List of injured students for prefects to assist: WOLFGANG KALLENBACH - knocked out @damien - stabbed EMIL ZALEWSKI - broken leg GRACE LONGBOTTOM - bleeding heavily from arm @sam - hit head on ground @edmund - on ground, stampeded SALLY JORDAN - stupefied, knocked out @cooper - turned into an ice statue @rebecca - bleeding from arm @ari - injured arm and leg @mariah - bleeding, right side @richard - Shattered shin bone (left), big slice along the right side of his ribcage (broken two ribs on impact) and a huge concussion and head injury (got hit in the head by blown up ice sculpture bits)

Matheus wasn't a genius nor had he ever claimed to be one, but as there was a call for prefects and the heads to help with the injured students, he could see that half of them were injured. Hearing the call for them to come over by Professor Spinnet, Matheus stood up from where he was, practically ordering Leo and Isobel to stay put, before running over to Professor Spinnet. "Wolfgang's laying there, knocked out, with half his face torn off. He's in shape, Professor. I've got Leo Jordan and Isobel Linwood with me. You can give me detention later, but I can't just leave someone like this. I need to help."
With that said, Matheus bolted to the matron, giving her a rundown of the situation. After a few minutes of talking to her whilst she tended to the younger 'puff, he returned to Leo and Isobel. "Matron says to leave him knocked out because with all his injuries and stuff, he'd be in a huge amount of pain. She'll come over in a minute, she's just gotta help the kid who's, like, bleeding out from his back and the kid with the broken leg. She said don't move him or we might do more damage. Isobel, do you wanna stay with him so me and Leo can help the others?"
Barely waiting for her answer, Matheus was hopping up with his wand in hand. First thing first, he ran over to the frozen statue of Cooper Narro. "Finite incantatem," he said, unfreezing the guy. "Alright, are you okay to walk? 'Cause if you are, I need your help getting some of the other students to hospital wing. There's a kid over there, a 'puff, bleeding from her side. She needs help getting to the hospital wing. Think you can manage that?" With his orders loud and clear to help @mariah (although he didn't know her name), Matheus moved over to the next student.
He didn't recognise the younger kid (@richard ) but man, he wasn't in good shape. Growing up in a bad neighbourhood... Matheus had definitely seen his fair share of injuries, so it wasn't the worst he'd seen, believe it or not. Checking the kid over, he introduced himself shortly to the girls near him, "Hey, I'm Matheus. I'm gonna try heal the cut on your friend's side so he don't bleed out on me, then the matron'll or a healer'll be by." With steady fingers, Matheus pointed his wand at the kids side. "Vulnera sanentur," he repeated once, watching as the flow of blood slowed down. "Vulnera sanentur." This time, the blood was cleared and the cut on the side began to heal. "Vulnera sanentur," Just like that, the cut had fully knit itself together. Glancing up at the kids who seemed to be with the guy, Matheus sent them a tight smile. "Do one of you guys wanna sit and talk to him to try and keep him conscious 'til the matron gets here? Are both of you alright?" He looked them over with his brows drawn before nodding at @ari . "Your arm and your leg look hurt. D'you reckon you can get to the hospital wing if you hold onto my arm? I gotta help someone else before we can go though, alright?"
It was then Matheus moved over to the kid, @edmund , laying on his side on the floor... he was tiny, so small. A first or second year. He looked about his sister's size and Merlin, Matheus hoped Izabel was alright, and Nicolas too. Crouching down, Matheus scooped the kid up into his arms with ease, before nodding towards @ari . "You coming?" he asked, before heading towards the hospital wing with a nod at Professor Spinnet.

Derek hadn’t even noticed a fellow auror had already started talking to Jack. Whenever there was something Hogwarts related, he always went to Jack. Despite all they’ve been through, he trusted the man to be honest. Derek was quite wary of people he didn’t know and sometimes even of people he did know. Even if he didn’t like doing this; he knew how to work this man. Besides, he was quite in a bad mood, not many people could handle him.
The auror’s expression was blank. He solely raised an eyebrow at the defense teacher. “I’d like to remind you that the legislation happened because you couldn’t control your werewolf students. Parents got scared and demanded actions taken. There are more to blame than just the Ministry in this case. But admitting your mistakes has never been your strongest qualities,” he stated even if it wasn’t why he got here. Derek pretended to be taking notes but instead he was doodling flowers because his mind was still half asleep and he couldn’t put words on paper. He was still pissed for being woken up rudely forced to work after just coming home from a 10 hour shift. Poor Jack was the perfect person to release his annoyance on.
“First of all, you are in no position to tell me what I need. I know damn well what I need. I was off duty when I was called in to inspect this mess. What I need is you to cooperate so I can go back to bed, so please.” If Hogwarts kept underestimating the seriousness of the current situations it’d be bad news for the future. This is the second slip up, thankfully this time without lethal casualties. “I hardly doubt deciding to attack fellow students is something out of their control. That is a very conscious action planned. Which might have taken origin from bad guidance by their peers. They didn’t get the help they needed so they took matters in our hands. I cannot see what they hoped to achieve with this. If anything this proves that werewolves and their supporters are violent in the eyes of the people,” he sighed, not liking this entire conflict but they were deep in it. “You cannot fight fire with fire.”
At that point a woman decided to join them, another teacher Derek assumed. His face remained expressionless and unimpressed. Except for a moment when a small cheeky twinkle sparkled in his dark eyes. “That’s funny,” he said and turned to Jack. It was asif Derek’s mood flipped 360°. All that was needed was something sexual it seemed. “I clearly remember topping more in the past,” he grinned for the first time that evening, a hint of flirtation was on his face. He stared after the woman as she left. “Your colleagues seem fond of you,” he mumbled before scratching his head. He couldn’t blame them, Jack was a nice guy. Sometimes a little too good for his own well being which got him stuck in situations like this. “Alright listen Jack. Sorry ‘bout all that. Please take care of your kids. I won’t be interviewing any of them right now. They’re in no condition to think clearly. Please come to me when everything is done. Alone, no other aurors no other teachers,” he said, patting the ginger man on his shoulder before moving on to see if he could help somewhere else.

Roxanne seemed to recognize what caused the darkness. She also instructed them that light charms were no use. A scouring ch, probably won’t do the trick. They have to burn all the particles but what was impossible unless they lit the whole room on fire. Which didn’t seem to be the wisest idea. All they could do was protect themselves until it was over. The darkness seemed to last an eternity. “I-I’m sorry,” he muttered ashamed of being afraid. It is alright, Grey and Roxanne are with you. Just keep those shielding charms up. Jun took a deep breath and returned to focussing on the task. What seemed to last a lifetime eventually ended when the room was lit again.
Without thinking his body moved on it’s own. Jun wrapped his arms around Greyson and hugged him while whispering a thankful prayer. When he did realise what he was doing he immediately let go and moved to his date. Now he wasn’t supposed to get intimate with girls until marriage but he still wanted to do something with the adrenaline in his body. He folded his own hands over hers and squeezed. “Are you okay?” The Hufflepuff was still progressing everything but the people around him had started taking action. “Oh. I think I have to do my duties,” he said, not feeling happy having to leave. Blinking he turned to Greyson. With a wave of his hand he turned the drink in the cup to almost freezing water. What better to do something against the thirst? “You’ll probably have to seek a higher year to get rid of the cup. I didn’t bring my wand and Hogwarts doesn’t teach wandless so I cannot do more than third year spells. Both of you should probably look for your prefects, um..” He paused and fumbled in his pocket.
Jun bit his lip and hesitated with the ring. Here goes nothing. “I eh… Well… My plans got ruined. I eh… Planned to give you this by the end of the evening. In a way more suiting moment. But I get the feeling that I won’t get that chance so...” Jun clumsy stumbled over his words and pressed the self made ring in Roxanne’s hand before taking off. “Let me know what you think tomorrow at breakfast.” Too scared to look at her initial response, he joined the other prefects to help guide Hufflepuffs back to their dorms. “Uninjured Hufflepuffs please gather with me,” he yelled when passing people still in the crowd before moving to the exit where other Puffs were waiting with teachers.
This thread will be locked in one week on the 25th of August at 12pm GMT+10 so please start finalising posts. Healers from St. Mungos have been brought in to assist the injured, so feel free to NPC them healing your characters and taking them to the hospital wing. All interview and hospital threads can be made separately. The outcome of what has happened to the attackers will be announced soon.

Richard listened closely to O'Connor's report, looking all around at the commotion while the professor spoke. A blitz attack by the students who have werewolf siblings? At the Winter Ball? Their bitterness and discontent had grown out of control... Idiots. He hoped that the Ministry wouldn't order all students whose families are affected by the legislation to stay home from now on. They'd have riots on their hands, hell, something of a civil war perhaps. Things were bad as they were.
If their goal had been to create as much havoc and noise as possible, they had succeeded. The Great Hall was littered with shards of glass and ice, tree branches, the floor was covered in a layer of food and beverages which filled the room with an overwhelming odor that hardly anyone could find pleasant. If their goal had been to have the entire school to despise them, they had succeeded. Students of all ages were pouring out of the Great Hall, expressions ranging from cold-blooded annoyance to panic. Some were being carried out by their fellow students, and some were unconscious.
If their goal had been to paint large targets on their backs, they had succeeded. Richard doubted they'd ever be let back in Hogwarts to study, but he had no doubt that at least a few of their former classmates wouldn't hesitate to punch them in the face, or even worse. It would be hard to redeem themselves after pulling a stunt like this. They would be ostracized without a second thought.
If their goal had been helping their siblings, they had utterly and miserably failed.
Richard didn't even get to answer to Jack, when another of his co-workers, Derek, stormed in and started berating O'Connor. All of his insults felt strangely familiar, and the way the two argued... Sparks were flying. Richard found himself strongly agreeing with O'Connor, but causing a rift in the auror department at this very moment could cost him dearly, so he just stood there, a few steps away from them, watching. Then, another professor joined, a fierce woman who, as Richard felt, could smear Derek against a wall if she became any more agitated. Yet she had her head on firmly, because she began to issue orders without missing a beat.
Once the trio had stopped tearing each other's throats out, Richard turned to O'Connor to ask the question that had been burning the tip of his tongue for the last several minutes.
"Where are-" he began, but the magically amplified voice of the female professor cut the thread of his thoughts. Runners? Oh, right. They didn't keep attendance.Perhaps...
"Nevermind. I'm off to sweep the castle." He said, nodding at O'Connor and turning on his heel. He had to find his nieces before he would pay attention to anyone else. He'd met two of them - Mia-Rose and Isobel. Mia-Rose didn't seem like the type to go to the Ball, while Isobel... Richard was certain she was around. It was a question of where. He straightened his back and got up on the makeshift stage for a better vantage point, and lo and behold, a head of red hair was right across from him, kneeled behind a table.
"ISOBEL LINWOOD ," his voice thundered across the room as he hurried over to his eldest niece to assess the situation. Her blue dress was badly torn up, soaked in gods knew what, and her hands were covered in blood. She looked pathetic. There was someone laying next to her -- a guy in a blue suit, lower part of his jaw all red and bleeding. He looked back and forth between the two.
"Are you hurt?" he asked, extending one of his glove-clad hands towards her to help her get up. When that was done, he took off his sweater and gave it to her. It would be several sizes too large for her, but it would help cover up all the tears. Plus, it was Linwood wool -- it would provide comfort as well as warmth. Without asking any questions he conjured up a stretcher and dragged the boy his niece had been kneeling next to, onto it. "Levitate him. When you're out of the hospital wing, check on your sisters. Send a letter home. If anything, send me a letter."

As the room filled with light once more, Isobel flung a hand over her eyes, the sudden burst of brightness hitting them sharply. Peering out slowly from underneath it, she could start to see the destruction laying all around her--and on her own hand, red and sticky blood. She pulled her hand away from her eyes as quickly as she had put it there, glancing down at what was underneath her. Her hands were a bloody mess, which seemed to be from Wolfgang's injuries, the boy laying flat underneath her, unmoving. Her dress was covered in punch, blood, and tiny shards of ice, with the skirt half torn away. She didn't really want to stand up like this, with the fabric barely covering her properly, and she stayed right where she was until she heard the sound of someone--telling her to stay right there.
"Oh, thank Merlin, Mat," she breathed as the Brazilian boy came running back over. "I'll stay here, but I don't think I can carry him on my own without hurting him." She bit hard at her lip when he and Leo left to help the others. Would anyone even see her and Wolfgang back here? Mat had told the matron, right?
Then a less familiar voice boomed at her name, but as she whipped her head toward the sound, the face was immediately familiar. If she didn't know better, Isobel could have sworn it was her own father--but of course, it was her uncle, the trainee Auror she had spoken with in Hogsmeade just last month.
"I'm fine," she said, "the blood is Wolfgang's, it's just the dress that was ruined--" she grimaced as she looked down at the torn fabric, gratefully accepting the large sweater from Richard. With his height, it would probably cover her well enough. She only felt terrible for getting blood on it--she knew it was always possible to get more wool, but she hoped he didn't have any emotional attachment to the garment. Pushing up the sleeves, she finally got to her feet, a little wobbly, but ready to walk. "I promise I'll write. Oh, and don't bother looking for Mia-Rose--she was talking in the common room the other day about how much she didn't want to be at the ball." Giving her uncle a smile, trying to reassure him even though she felt not a single reason to be reassured herself, she swept her eyes over the room for Leo and Mat once more. "Come help me carry him?" she called out to the two Gryffindors. Without her wand, she couldn't levitate him, even if the stretcher would make carrying Wolfgang much easier.

One of the little first years was screaming at the top of her lungs can someone punch her in the throat please? Aiden would've gladly done so, under the cover of intense magical darkness, if she sounded like she was near enough. Instead he felt the tug of one of the little firsties he was 'protecting' on his expensive Italian designer suit and Aiden's face contorted in anger. Grazie a Dio, no one could see the look on his face. Unfortunately the Muggle Studies professor had begun to clear the room of the darkness powder and so Aiden had to recover his disgust rather quickly. Calmly as possible, he pryed the expensive fabric from the child's grubby fingers. "I have to go help others. You guys stay down and let go of me."
Aiden was thankful that Professor O'Connor had directed the prefects to help others. Not that he liked helping people... but it gave him the perfect excuse to leave his little gaggle of children and search out his sister. It didn't take long, but the sight of Kaylie confirmed Aiden's fear and his guts tightened into knots as he closed the distance between him and the two girls. "Alana, stai bene?" he asked, quickly scanning her before turning to Kaylie. "Jesú, Alana did you drain her?" Aiden whispered harshly as he pulled out his wand. "Episkey," he tried to heal away evidence but to no avail. He had no dittany, obviously.
"Fuck, Kaylie, aurors are coming and episkey isn't working. You two need to sort something out - hide the bite with a worse injury and blame it on the explosion. Don't get expelled," he instructed them all as he heard the voice - usually soft and almost scared - and he was tugged away from his sister by Grace. He blinked because this was... this was out of character. He followed almost obediently, though as he passed by the concussed Caverly, Aiden very carelessly (#madesure) he stepped heavily on the snake's hand with his Italian leather dress shoes. "Grace, you're bleeding. After this, you're going to get help for yourself," Aiden said firmly as he initiated the leviosa charm - the tree shifted a little but then all of a sudden an adult appeared on the scene and took over. He narrowed his eyes as she barked orders at them, completely underestimating his magical abilities which did not sit well with the proud Ravenclaw.
"Sure let's lift the tree because a woman, an injured girl, a Hufflepoof and I are better than three capable wizards and a levitating charm," Aiden snapped back, unable to contain his temper for once. Aiden reached out for Grace that moment, and made sure that she looked him in the eye. "You get ready to pull the kid free when we lift," Aiden then mumbled the spell for producing bandages and they materialised from the tip of his wand, much like a ribbon twirler he spun it to keep it contained to Grace's arms. "You know what to do with the bandages and her arm."
Then Aiden turned to Gabe and Josephine. "Heave fucking ho," Aiden said as he lifted the tree off of Ollie with the assistance of the Hufflepoof, Gabriel and the baby auror. Merde di Dio, this tree was heavy. "Where's the half-giant when you need him? ALMIR?"
