With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Today was a revisit of lessons, of their very first one at the beginning of the year that had gone... not so well, but it was a critical one to redo nonetheless. It was apart of the curriculum, and Jack wanted to see how his students had progressed with their magic since. With his usual mug of coffee sitting on his desk and steaming, Jack waited for his students to begin filing in before launching into a speech about what they were doing today.
"Good morning class," he began, a serious expression masking his face. "Today, we are revisiting boggarts. I know some of you had a less than pleasant experience last time however you need to learn how to defend yourself against a boggart shall you encounter one outside of these four walls. Now, let me clarify that like last lesson, I will give you a minute to defend your boggart all by yourself and if you have not produced a successful Boggart-Banishing Spell in that time frame, I will intervene. I have also arranged with the matron to come in and talk or give calming draughts to those who need them after we commence facing our boggarts."
Recalling on what had happened with certain students last time, Jack made sure to articulate that, "If you need a breather after facing your boggart, then please let me know and I will arrange for you and another student to take a short one outside. You'll be expected to return to the classroom until the lesson is over, and if there's anyone who does otherwise then they will find themselves in a meeting with me."
With all of the straight-to-the-point business over, Jack lifted his now drinkable mug of coffee from his desk and gave his students a small smile. "If there are any questions concerning what I have just said, the please feel free to ask them. Otherwise, let's revisit the theoretical side of boggarts before we start facing them." As per usual when they visited the theory side of things, there was a series of grumbles and complaints from the classroom but Jack ignored them. It was important to know about a subject fully in order to master it, not just the wand work. "Who can tell me about boggarts, and who can tell me about the Boggart-Banishing Spell?"
6'0". IRISH. BIG HEART. LOYAL. BRAVE. WORKAHOLIC. BISEXUAL. SINGLE. distinguishing features: a big scar runs across jack's left cheek credit for award goes to ollie! <3
Lessons like these were the ones where Felix felt like he had no control over what he would be able to show people. Boggarts had control over you before you even could take it. Felix hoped that the class would move at such a pace where they won't even be able to let him take a turn on the boggart. Sometimes a person's fear would get out of control and with that the entire class. Felix had been seated in the back, his hands spinning a pen around on the table while he waited for the professor to ask his questions.
Felix like usual kept to himself but he did want to know more about boggarts and the biggest desire of his was to know how to avoid one for the rest of his life. God next year they would probably do boggarts again and he didn't see that shit coming. Felix looked around, wanting to see the emotions on people's faces. Soon enough there would be protests, people cussing about the lesson and he just missed his bowl of popcorn.
Ollie remembered the last time they covered this subject. Things didn't go well but she was also caught completely off guard. Maybe this time she would be able to face the boggart better. She remembered curling up in a corner, being offered chocolate by a sweet Ravenclaw girl. Ollie was a bit tired when she settled in her seat, grabbing her materials from her bag. She hadn't seen Gabriel yet but she was sure he'd be here soon as well. The girl was afraid she'd be caught daydreaming but for some reason she just couldn't sleep well.
So many thoughts went through her mind and now the boggart was going to come at her and pull out the one she feared the most. A lot of people didn't understand why she was so afraid of two headlights, why she felt panic rising deep down when they came closer. They didn't remember the words her mother spoke when she held onto Ollie's little hand. "Mommy and Daddy love you." and that was when everything went to black. Ollie didn't remember much more but who could blame her? She was only four years old.
The professor started off a bit strict but then his whole expression seemed calmer once he had his coffee. Ollie just skimmed through her book.

Kitty took a deep breath. Oh, Merlin; Boggarts. She hated the things. Well, that was sort of the point, she supposed, and she really did do her best not to give in to them, but the fact of the matter was that, despite being a generally bright and bubbly sort of person, she thought she had more than her fair share of fears, and so she'd been nearly completely taken aback by the one which had actually presented itself to her. One thing had led to another and... well, it hadn't ended happily for anyone, so far as she could remember, but then it was all a bit of a blur. There were some things which she would really rather not remember in any case.
She knew that she was probably going to make a huge mess of the practical side of things, and so she thought she'd better gain a bit of credit during the theoretical part of the lesson. Following her last encounter, she had spent quite a long time poring over the textbook trying to work out where she'd gone wrong, and though she still hadn't the faintest idea in that respect, she had at least gained a fairly good idea of how the whole Boggart thing worked. Raising her hand, she offered, "Boggarts take the shape of your worst fear."
Cassidy was exhausted as she walked into the classroom. She had no idea what they were going to discuss but she surely hoped for once, just once, it was something that didn't make her want to curl up and die. The blonde had sat down and was about to turn to see who was sitting beside her when she heard the word boggart. Not again.. please not again. Her blue eyes were a bit wider than usual and she searched for Greyson. She didn't want her cousin to hate her when he sees her boggart.
Her uncle... then a green flash. Cassidy turned to her own papers and felt her hands tug at her sleeves, folding them inside her fists. The girl took a few deep breaths and just tried to calm her own heart down. It couldn't be as bad as she thought it would be right? There was no reason to panic? Who knows she might be the last to do this and Greyson wouldn't have to be confronted to the night they both had their lives changed for the worst. The night where they were forced to watch a man die, an innocent man.
She really hoped the professor wouldn't choose who was next.

Clary let out a chuckle as she walked into the classroom, her arms wrapped around the books she was holding as she found a seat next to a pretty blonde. "Hey gorgeous! Mind if i sit here?" she asked before plopping on the seat. The girl put her stuff down on the table in front of her and smiled a bit while the professor explained the lesson they were having today. The girl looked at the girl beside her wondering what her boggart would be and then she looked at her own hands.
What was Clary's boggart? She had always found herself being fearless and now she had to face her fears? What fears would it be? Clary didn't like bugs but was she afraid of bugs? Nah. She didn't like to think she was afraid of anything. "Do you have a boggart? I don't think I have one." she whispered and looked at the professor, trying to pay attention but her mind wandered off to the fear she didn't know she'd have.

It had been a bit over a month since the whole thing with Thomas and even though she still got disparaging looks from some of her peers and the occasion 'slag!' cough in the hallways, it mostly seemed to be over. There hadn't been anymore outbursts like they'd been in History of Magic which was a relief not only because Lydia disliked being the centre of attention, but because she actually wanted to learn and study for her upcoming OWLs. Ones that were getting closer and closer by the day, and perhaps causing Lydia to be an awful friend and sister with the way she was studying every waking hour for it. She wanted to do well, and... and it took her mind off memories that still replayed in her brain if she wasn't occupied.
Taking a seat in the classroom somewhere towards the front, Lydia grimaced as she heard O'Connor say they were redoing boggarts today. Great. That was always a blast of a class. After listening to the Gryffindor girl answer O'Connor with what boggarts actually were, Lydia spoke up, "The charm to defeat a boggart is Riddikulus - basically, you think of how you can make your boggart into something funny rather than scary when casting the spell."
Colwynn was running late to class, but she managed to get in before it was too late. She sat next to Lydia, despite the fact that she could have sat next to Lydia's brother instead. She didn't know what Lydia, or anyone, knew about what had happened, but Wynn wasn't quite ready to talk about that to the public yet.
She seemed unphased by managing boggarts. She was living with her cousin on his farm and she'd witnessed quite a few boggarts. It was fine when the boggart wasn't focused on her dad. Something about seeing her own dead body was deeply concerning.
Wynn knew what her worst fear was and it was, frankly, not something that she couldn't handle. She was a bit nervous about everyone seeing what her fear was, though. When Lydia explained the dynamics of the spell, Colwynn added, "The main thing with a boggart is not to let your fear overwhelm you. I've only seen a boggart get the better of someone once and that was just because they didn't realize it was just a boggart." As an afterthought she added, "There are lots of boggarts where I live."
