With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Finn had been a little late at work but he managed to catch up on everything his co worker left behind for him. Honestly sometimes he felt like Eva didn't like him but then again did she ever like anyone? The boy was exhausted, his bright blue eyes showing that he was tired and really needed a break from it all. He poured himself a glass of juice and leaned back away from the bar so he could look around the place.
There were students enjoying their drinks and laughing which was good, Finn enjoyed seeing other people having a good time. Even in times like these smiles are rare and whenever he spotted one he couldn't help but feel good because those smiles inspired hope for the hopeless.
Finn spotted a familiar face and waved with a bright smile of his own.
"Hey gorgeous!" he said with the bright smile still on his face.

The Three Broomsticks was busier and fuller than she had expected, and Nadya almost immediately regretted her decision to come for a butterbeer. While she had been looking forward to the sweet drink for the whole walk down to the village, there was something irritating about the noise of it all that made her want to turn around and visit Honeydukes for her sweets instead. it was only when she heard a call out for her--and yes, she allowed herself to believe that "gorgeous" was referring to her--that she allowed herself to smile just a little, seeing one of her old schoolmates behind the bar. While he was smiling more in one moment than Nadya probably had in the last year, seeing him again did feel nice, and she made her way over to the bar, sitting on one of the stools in front of Finn.
"Good to see you again," she said smoothly, leaning an elbow on the bar. "Catch up over a butterbeer?" While the man had been two years ahead of her in school, she still remembered him as kind and nature-loving, qualities she admired, even if he had always been far more talkative than Nadya. At least it would be nicer to talk to a familiar face than be alone in the noise, and she would get her butterbeer after all. She took her hair out of its bun while waiting for him to get her drink, shaking out the blonde locks behind her head.

Back in Hogwarts Finn would try to make a load of friends because the more the merrier. He was a bright spirit if anything else and he really wanted to make people feel better. The boy gave Nadya a kind smile and nodded. He missed her, she was fun to hang out with and she had a pretty smile too.
"Oh yes." he grabbed two glasses and started making the drink for them both. Honestly he didn't often have friends to talk to. The boy adjusted his glasses and handed Nadya her butterbeer before taking a sip of his own.

Taking the butterbeer from Finn's hand, Nadya took a long drink before beginning to answer. It was cold and sweet and delicious, just as she knew it would be, and she was happy she'd stayed to get it. She set it down in front of her, thinking about how to answer her old schoolmate. It wouldn't be a very good conversation to complain about everything, even if there were plenty of things she wanted to complain about. She'd have to tell him about the things that were going well.
"Care of Magical Creatures is still one of the better classes, as you might expect," she said, a touch of a smile on her face. She remembered Finn's love of animals, and she hoped he would be glad to know that the school was still teaching that subject well. "Though we did have to study a dragon who'd been disfigured in order to be kept in a cage by rich people. At least he was rescued, but still..." Her face darkened, remembering her outrage at knowing that someone had did something so horrible to the poor creature, no matter how dangerous dragons were. She picked up her butterbeer instead, hoping the sweetness would distract her from remembering how upset she had been.

Finn was the biggest animal lover even he knew. His friends would know too, they would know how much he spent with animals outside of classes and how he would play with the owls when he was bored because they deserved attention. Sure maybe one day he would maybe teach other kids or he would travel and see animals but until then he was pleased with the job he had now, he was young and had enough things he could decide on over time.
"It will always be! How is the teacher?" he asked and was actually curious if it was the same he had. They changed over time, all of them did. "I never liked how teachers weren't consistent." he added and listened to her talk about a dragon. The poor thing was caged before? Finn hated to hear that and he actually had a sad expression for a short time.
"I am so glad it's free now." he said with a smile returning on his face. "How have you been doing with the class? Do you know what to do when you're done with school?"

"Almir is great," Nadya said, her face smoothing out as the bartender redirected her to more peaceful topics. "You were still there when he arrived, right?" Over seven years, it was easy to forget exactly when everyone had come and gone to the school. Some people seemed like eternal constants, like the headmistress, while others, Nadya could barely remember their faces. At least Finn was a nice face to remember, and so was Almir--she had definitely been harboring a crush on the part-giant for a few years. But this didn't worry her too much, as she had already realized that she would rather be in love with more than one person at once, so she wouldn't get hung up on someone she couldn't be with.
"That's one of the classes that actually is going well," she explained. "I only decided this past summer that I want to be a Healer, so it might be hard to pull off the right N.E.W.T.s." She scowled slightly, thinking of how much she hated sitting still and studying in the library. But she knew it was the right thing for her to do, as much as she hated the thought of working in London. It was where she actually had a chance at changing something in the system. Besides, she'd be terrible at doing something like Finn did--the thought of having to make conversation with everyone, all day, even annoying people, sounded impossible.

Finn missed school and the fun he had when he was there. He wouldn't cause trouble like many of his siblings did but he would sneak out into the forest hoping to catch a unicorn's attention and feed them. Finn really missed working with animals and maybe he would take up the offer of his brother to work at the animal shelter. but until then he would serve drinks to lovely people, lovely people like Nadya.
"I was! I liked him." he said and nodded for a moment. "He always brings the most wonderful animals to learn about. I wish I could pet most of them." he said and smiled a bit. The boy missed those classes, the good old days. Finn listened to her and nodded, he never really knew what he wanted to do in life when he was in school either.
"A healer sounds amazing though, I think you'd be really good at that." he told her with a nod. "I mean I wouldn't know how to heal anything, once I watched my sister trip and she had a few scratches but I couldn't heal them." he said and blushed a bit when he did so. "I am super clumsy." he added.

"You should come and visit the castle sometime! I'm sure Almir would let you pet a few creatures." Nadya knew that security on the castle was tight, but she was sure a recent graduate who lived in the village just down the road would pose no threat, if they asked the Headmistress. "It must be hard to keep pets here, then?" She had to admit that despite keeping in contact, she didn't know if Finn lived here, in the inn, or somewhere else in Hogsmeade. Her own family lived in an apartment back in London, where it was rather difficult to keep pets, though possible. Papa had been talking about getting an owl.
Nadya stared into her glass when Finn said she must be good at healing, considering how to answer. While she hoped it was true, and enjoyed the compliment, she knew she still had so much to learn. Most of what she could do now was recognize healing herbs and apply them. Everything else still seemed like something she would have to learn in training, because she certainly didn't know it already.
Not that she was going to admit these reservations too freely. "I hope it really does work out as well as you think it will for me. I bet you could learn to heal scratches really quickly, though. It's not a big injury, so you could fix it with herbs. Then it wouldn't matter if you're clumsy or not."

Talking to Nadya about school again made Finn miss school a little. His friend was always so kind to him and he sadly had to leave to live the adult life he never really felt prepared for. Here Finn was, trying his best to fight his way through adulthood, get his foot into life but right now he was the bartender and Nadya was the customer. "You think that would be possible? I didn't think outsiders were allowed to visit the castle. Especially these days." he said a bit confused but he didn't mind if he was allowed to visit.
"It would feel good again to be there. My younger siblings are still in school." he told her and smiled a bit more. "I live in London and I have a dog actually." he told Nadya with a chuckle and took a photo out of his pocket. "This is her." he said softly. "Her name is Lady." because he wasn't original. Honestly if Nadya wanted to be a healer she was surely going to be better than him in all of it.
"Oh I am sure you'll do great. You are very smart and you can definitely do it." he said and smiled a bit. "Do you have any pets?" he asked her and poured a random customer a refill before returning his attention to his friend. "You know I have some healing books from my mother you can borrow if you want to read up on it?"

Nadya shrugged at Finn's question. "Well, I wouldn't know for sure, but if the school's really going to bar people who lived there just less than a year ago, that's--how shall I put it--bullshit," she said. For the second time in their conversation, despite the simple topics, she felt frustration rising in her again. It wasn't like she would have any interest in going back to Hogwarts after she was gone, but she was eternally amazed at how little of an opinion the school seemed to have of its students. As if she hadn't already been seventeen for months already! She wasn't a little child. Nor were her classmates, no matter what sort of displays of immaturity some of them had.
"Ah, I'm in London as well," she said, trying to distract herself with the dog picture Finn had pulled out. "I should have known you all lived there!" With the headquarters of most wizarding organizations there--the Ministry, St. Mungo's, the Daily Prophet--plenty of magical folk lived in the city. She peered at the picture closer--the little animal inside was adorable. "I would like a dog, I think. Or any sort of pet. I never had one to bring to Hogwarts, which I think is a shame. My Papa wants an owl, but I'm sure we'll only get one--there's not enough room where we live to have many. They wouldn't have space to fly."
She drank a bit more of her butterbeer, sad to see it almost empty. "Is your mother a healer, then? I'd love books. I need to do more research on which ward I'd like to work at."

Security was quite the big deal at Hogwarts, it was just a real thing that meant that many people including himself weren't as welcome as you think. Finn wanted to go back, he even thought of working there but no one wanted to stay at their school forever, it was quite problematic. Finn didn't take it as an offense though and just worked hard in town here while he could, serving students and listening to stories.
"It's okay Nadya, I will live." he said with a smile and poured her another butterbeer, he noticed the small pout her lips formed. "This one is on me." he said and nodded. "London is the big city everyone seems to live, though I know a lot of people outside of it." he assured her with a chuckle.
"Dogs are the best, I volunteer at an animal shelter down in London if you're ever interested in just coming over and play with the animals." he offered with a smile.
