With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Nadezhda Ivanovna Kareva
SPECIES: half-veela
BLOOD STATUS: half-blood(through human father)
JOB: student, 7th year
HOUSE: please sort for me!
FACE CLAIM: Kerli Kõiv
BIRTHDAY: 23 March 2001
PERSONALITY
Positive Traits: creative, independent, nature lover, green thumb, sympathetic to magical creatures Negative Traits: quick to anger, abrasive, holds grudges deeply, stubborn, defensive Quirks and Habits: Nadezhda spends much of her time outdoors, resenting being confined to a classroom every school day. More often than not, she can be found in the greenhouses, always more content when surrounded by green and growing things. If you manage to sneak in there without her realizing you’re there, you might notice her singing softly in Russian to them, showing her loyalty to the language she spoke as a little child. But greenhouses and forests may be the only place to see the soft side of Nadya, because she often regards others with an Arctic chill in her eyes, always suspicious of their motives. She is terrified of the thought of losing her independence, but equally terrified of rejection--not that she ever admits to the second thing out loud. Likes: Herbology and Care of Magical Creatures classes, animals, the idea of returning to Russia, the Forbidden Forest, forests in general, singing and making up songs (but only alone), bilberries Dislikes: prejudice against creatures, people who smile too much, difficult books, the dungeons, using dead animal parts in potions Boggart: her sisters turning against her Mirror of Erised: living in the forest among veelas Patronus: crane
HISTORY
We want to know your character in a snapshot of THREE distinct memories personal to them - memories that shaped who they are today. Detail is necessary. Alternatively, you can write TWO paragraphs to summarise their history.
For Nadezhda, it is not the memories of things that did happen that she always thinks of. It is the things that were missing: first, her mother. Ivan Karev does not like to speak about her, but he keeps photo albums that Nadya has found, her fingers tracing over the little moving pictures of her parents together. If only she had lived. (If only Nadya knew what really happened to her.) Nadya thinks she would be happier if she had grown up with the other half of her heritage, if she had someone to teach her how to handle the powers that seem to explode when she wants them least. Why does she only ever hear of part-veela children living among humans? Why not the other way? It haunts her every time she hears other people talk about their mothers, bringing up the absence of memories that seems so wrong.
And then, home. It should always have been Russia, should have been the streets of Moscow that Nadya can barely recall, tiny hand clutching onto her father’s when he took the girls to his job at the Russian Ministry of Magic one day, and Nadya can recall the shiny little black leather shoes she was wearing, the snuggly gray wool coat, can remember sticking her tongue out to catch snowflakes and dancing around on the sidewalk. For all that she has spent much more of her life in London and at Hogwarts, she cannot shake the feeling that she doesn’t belong there, nor does the rest of her family. (Perhaps it is just that her memories of Russia are such fleeting happy ones from being so young, while most of her bad experiences have been after they moved to the UK. She knows the disdainful way some of her schoolmates look at her for her veela status, while she was too small to notice it that day at the Russian Ministry. But perhaps she doesn’t want to admit that her hope is false…)
At least there are no memories of werewolves too close to her life. What she knows of them is from her father’s work with magical beings, the same work that caused him to meet her mother, that caused her and her sisters to be born, and from that she is convinced that she shares a bond with the werewolves. Every classmate gone from the school after an attack is yet another void she feels, and every time it fills her with a righteous anger. No matter if she never spoke to them, she keeps each one in her mind, little memories of them to fuel her frustration with the human world. It is no matter that she has never known anything other than that world: she likes her ideas more than the memories she has.

Straightening her back and dusting off her hands, Sophie looked around the last clean guest room on the Horizon, admiring her work. Beds perfectly made, bathroom scrubbed, mirror polished for the next high-colored guest to admire themselves on the next cruise. Done! She hurried to grab her small suitcase from the workers’ quarters. Two weeks of freedom now, or as close as one could get to freedom when one was a Brown. It felt like freedom to Sophie, though, freedom to shop at the market and meet with old friends, two things that were unavailable on the glittering spaceship, even with all the amenities it offered. She’d have to pay her landlord as well for the apartment she rarely used anymore, but it was alright--she would have enough left over to buy a few new clothes later.
But she had something to do in the spaceport first. Something important. She’d been feeling so ill recently, and with a sneaking suspicion of the cause, she knew better than to go to her own ship’s doctor. People on the Horizon were great at keeping secrets—for Golds and Silvers, anyway. Sophie was well trained in that. For her kind, however, they showed no such loyalty. But that could be handled, in her experience. Generations of low colors knew who to go to if they wanted to keep themselves alive.
A few employees still mulled about the ship as Sophie headed to debark at the spaceport, checking her appearance in a mirror as she passed—it wouldn’t do to look all disheveled in front of everyone. Patting down her hair and straightening her skirt, she walked briskly down the ramp and in the direction of the other ship that had just arrived on Earth: the SSS Viper. She hoped Dr. Sargent had received her warning that she was coming to the other ship’s medical bay. The doctor seemed kind and good, and most importantly, she worked on a completely different ship. Clutching the little suitcase in one hand, she stood near the other giant ship, in the place where she’d asked to meet in order to be brought into the doctor’s office, and searched the crowd of workers, scientists, and travelers for the doctor’s face.
