With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?

It was freezing. Nadya drew the green feather blanket tighter around herself, knowing that it was morning and yet having very little desire to get up. The lake water swished by above her bed, and not for the first time, she felt that maybe if she could hear the birds, she would have some actual motivation to leave her bed. The cold wasn't doing this day any favors in her mind, and she dreaded the coming of winter, wishing that she were a hibernating forest creature instead. Perhaps if she went back to sleep, she could just skip this day and hope the next one was better...
Instead, she rolled over, pressing the side of her face into the soft pillow and glancing at the other beds around hers. At least her roommates had not bothered her at all that night! She pulled her braid over her shoulder, releasing it from its ribbon and starting to unwind the strands of hair from each other. She'd have to get out from under the blankets to style it properly, but at least she could still do this while she was laying in bed. Running her fingers through the blonde strands, she groaned as she finally sat up and stretched her long limbs, shivering as the cold dungeon air hit her bare shoulders--the coming of autumn had not stopped her from wearing tank tops to bed (which may have been the real source of her problems).
"Morning, Scarlett," Nadya called over to the bed next to hers, the one belonging to the girl who had shared her dormitory for so long. As usual, the Russian accent was far more exaggerated in her voice than it should have been, considering she had been living in the UK for thirteen years. "Ready to face the day? Not sure I am."

The cold was not doing Scarlett's body any justice. She always has been a very active person but somewhere during the night Scarlett must have some of her back and neck exposed resulting into a pain in the muscles. The brunette was anything but happy about it, she wanted to see Teddy this weekend and sore muscles were a no go when a girl was going to have some fun playtime with her very handsome boyfriend. There was a groan coming from the girl as she heard her roommate wish her a good morning.
What was so good about this morning? She surely didn't see it. The brunette rose an eyebrow when she opened her eyes, her lips letting out a groan again. Fuck this was not the way she wanted to wake up. "Ow... morning Nadya.." she replied to the russian girl and sat up slowly. If Nadya wasn't her friend in a way, she would've bitched the Russian girl out.
"Not at all. My muscles feel like they're made of bricks." Scarlett replied with a sigh. "Did you manage to get sleep tonight?"

"I slept plenty. Too cold to be awake." Nadya shrugged, pulling the blanket over her legs while she reached for her hairbrush. It seemed that Russian genes didn't actually do much to protect her from the chill. She ran the brush through her hair, watching her roommate stretch. It was nice to have Scarlett around when so many of their Housemates drove Nadya mad, someone who could appreciate a comfortable silence together without being a bother, and yet still share all the gossip when needed.
And oh, was it often needed at this school, with all the stupid things people did.
Nadya set the hairbrush down and stretched her back this time, her spine cracking lightly. Wasn't she supposed to be only seventeen, young and strong? It was the fault of the dungeon, she was sure. Some fresh air should fix her bones. That always seemed like the answer. Maybe she'd go to the forest today--but first, getting ready.
"Need me to crack your back as well?" she asked Scarlett, a touch of a smile on her face. "Don't want to be in pain all day."

Scarlett wished she could do what the russian girl did. Sleep in the cold. She really needed fifty blankets to even be comfortable which is why she owled her father for more and she received a package in return with six warm fleece blankets to warm her up. She refused to be cold a second longer in this shameful dungeon. A dungeon! From all the places she was stuck in a dungeon.
"Fair enough." was her only response to that and Scarlett just hummed a bit as she stretched. "That sounds lovely actually." she said and skipped forward a bit. "If you wouldn't mind.." she said and shifted a bit.
"Oh god, no pain. I have had it with pain." she laughed a bit.

Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, Nadya shivered as soon as her bare feet touched the floor. At home, Papa would always have told her to put on house slippers, that she would certainly catch cold by walking around with her feet exposed like that, but she always preferred her toes to be free. At least, she always did until she had to live in this dungeon, and she had to admit that he was right--but only sometimes.
And she still didn't put on slippers, instead wrapping a sweater from her trunk around her shoulders and tiptoeing over to Scarlett's bed, where she was able to lift her feet off the floor once more. They were only a little off the floor, with her height, but it was enough to be a bit warmer, and she scooted next to her roommate.
"You would think with the amount of rooms in this castle, they could get us something better than a dungeon," she said as she started pulling gently on Scarlett's shoulders, hoping to relieve some of the tension. "But maybe it's to punish the worst among this House. I only wish they were kinder to us girls."

Scarlett was used to the luxury of her italian home. Her parents would make sure she had everything she desired no matter how much of a jerk her father is or how abusive he gets, she always got everything she desired. The brunette just let Nadya do her magic on her bones and her muscles. Truth be told Scar never really let anyone touch her like this except for her boyfriend but here she was sitting on her bed letting her friend crack her bones.
The brunette groaned and smiled. "That feels amazing, how do you do it?" she laughed a bit and looked back at her friend's direction. "Well you'd expect some good treatment here but I feel like they haven't done that since the middle ages." she didn't mind old school things but this was ancient.
"I am surprised they have plumbing." she chuckled a bit.

"Same," Nadya groaned at Scarlett's comment on the plumbing. "I don't know what I would do if we had to deal with chamber pots or something. I think I'd rather vanish myself out of the castle." She was fine with getting dirty in the mud of gardens, climbing through forests and fields with bare feet and hands, but no water would be a step too far. It was bad enough that their dormitory was already surrounded by water.
Releasing Scarlett's shoulders, Nadya sat back, pulling her own cardigan tighter around herself. It was soft gray wool, remarkably cozy for how thin it looked. She tucked her legs under herself, smiling at her friend. "I hope that helped. You never know, it might be magic after all, though I've just done it the way I always have." After all, there were still bits of veela magic she was learning about all the time--though usually it was the less useful things, like the occasional harpy feather when she got upset. Nadya preferred the nicer parts of it, like dancing, although she rarely had a chance to try that.
"We need to convince someone to improve our beds down here, or at least give us our own fireplace," she said, looking around. "Got any good ideas?"
