With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Quincey hadn't seen Adrian since they returned to Hogwarts. While they had met over summer, it never was that much fun because the adults were watching their backs. Messing up would lead to great punishments so Quin had to show his best side. Now he was at Hogwarts, his inner monkey was released. He recently heard Adrian and Vinda had broken off their engagement. Obviously Quincey wondered why but he didn't feel like prying on such personal things. He'd hate it if someone did the same to him. Part of him was blessed he didn't have to roll the engagement thing yet. Mr. Burke said he still had a long way to go before he could marry well. Of course as a muggleborn you had to try extra hard to impress the pureblood society. Just wealth and class wasn't enough. Those were worries for later, he was going to cheer up his buddy first. They'd been put together for a while. Adrian was one of the first pureblood kids his new family pushed him to play with. Their friendship might be fabricated but Quincey felt still obligated to spend time with Adrian even at Hogwarts. He didn't mind the guy actually even if Adrian didn't feel mutual friendship. The grumpy stiff expression was super adorable and Quincey had to resist kissing his cheeks all the time. Sometimes he failed but he did make sure nobody was watching around those moments of giving into temptation.
Hanging out with Adrian was worth walking all these stairs even if it was tiresome. And Quincey was rather lazy than tired. There were only certain moments where he'll go full out in passion and walking stairs wasn't among them. After a while he had made it to the Hufflepuff common room. Where he knew Adrian was last spotted. Now he had cornered the older guy, a cheeky smirk played on his face as he approached a Hufflepuff student that was about to head in. "Please summon Adrian for me," he asked in the sweetest tone and waited. Quin had brought his violin bag and some art equipment with him just to be sure.
When he saw that familiar grumpy head pop out, Quincey beamed. At times Quin wasn't sure if Adrian was really that stiff and distant from people or if it was just an act. As Quincey had several masks he could wear, other people might have them too. "Yohooo Adrian," he mused and skipped over, stopping just a centimeter before the Hufflepuff. A big beaming innocent smile almost tore his face apart being a big contrast to the almost emotionless Hufflepuff in front of him. "I've got something for you as a late six year of friendship celebration. I actually wanted to get something last year when it was five but sometimes you just gotta wait till you come across the perfect gift." Quin grabbed the older boy's hands and put a small box between them before closing them and holding his hands between his. "Addy paddie, can je bend over a little so I can kiss your forehead like a proud grandmother? I'm afraid you've still got some years on me. It's only a matter of time before I'm the mature tall handsome one," he winked as if he was a charming prince about to kiss the beautiful princess. “Go ahead open it up!” Gifting people was always such a wonderful experience, he loved seeing their reactions. For Adrian he bought a titanium ring with a piano motive. It should fit around his index finger because the ring finger was reserved for engagement and wedding rings. All these pureblood etiquette lessons paid off in the end. Perhaps they could make some music together today, Adrian played the piano and Quincey had mastered the alto violin by now.

Adrian had been tending to his budding cobra lily when he heard a knock on his shared dorm room. He glanced at his roommates, but when none of them responded, he called for the person to enter. It was a younger year, someone he's seen around but not approached. He raised an eyebrow as they stuttered something about Adrian being 'summoned'. "On whose authority?" He grumbled but placed the frozen rat back into his magically sealed cold bag. The cobra lily could wait a little longer, but someone was waiting for him outside the common room. He had an inkling, who else was exuberant, demanding and a Ravenclaw?
Quincey's odd behaviour changes had initially made Adrian uncomfortable, at the beginning of their friendship. Over the years he'd grown to understand it as something of a rebellion against old Burke. He believed it was something freeing for the muggle-born Burke. Adrian honestly didn't know, and Quincey's answers had been a little elusive. They didn't regularly interact outside holidays with Quincey's bubbly front and Adrian's less sociable personality. He thought they had a mutual agreement to avoid each other for the most part, but as Adrian stepped out of the common room and his eyes landed on the other boy, he determined that it was certainly Quin.
He gave a small grunt of acknowledgement, deciding that if Quin could 'yohoo' him, Adrian could be a little rude in return. It took only two blinks before the Ravenclaw was all up in Adrian's personal space. As Adrian was backed between two walls and a door, he didn't have much choice in how close they stood. He scowled down at the shorter boy, but it gentled a little into a firm frown as he was gifted a present. There were so many words flowing out of Quincey's mouth but leaned down like requested. It made Adrian's insides squirm uncomfortably to allow the kid to be so affectionate towards him, especially since he knew how uh, open, Quin was with his love.
The Hufflepuff then turned his attention to the box, unwrapping it and revealing a lovely silver ring. "I hope you aren't proposing to me; this is entirely unromantic and problematic." There was a hint of humour in his voice as he slid it onto his index finger, a perfect fit. "Thank you; I don't have anything for you. I guess I was waiting until our 10th anniversary." He sounded genuine, to begin with, but his voice turned wry. Adrian stepped closer to Quin to get past him, nodding at the instrument. "Your'e not just here to give me a gift, I suppose. Did you miss me these summer holidays?"
Adrian was still the same grumpy Puff as ever. He didn’t seem all that happy to see Quincey but the Ravenclaw was determined to change that. Usually he avoided the older boy while at school. Quin didn’t like mixing his two identities and Adrien wasn’t a fan of the bubbly façade. What made him change his mind? Well he didn’t get to give the present over summer. The stair walk was way too long to just be for gifting. So, he might as well spend some time together, while Adrian was still a student here. Despite his expectations, the Hufflepuff bend slightly. Quin wondered if Adrian was this obedient in bed. “Well aren’t you a good boy? Let Nana Quin give you a big smoosh,” he said in a fake grandmother voice. But because he knew Adrian hated it, he only gave a light peck on the top of Adrian’s beautiful head. Pulling back, he smiled brightly. He was happy that Adrian allowed him to do this.
The Hufflepuff’s response to the ring was highly amusing. Quin loved it when the quiet Puff showed signs of humor. He wasn’t as dry as he appeared to be. “Hmm, I thought you’d apricate the plain and direct approach,” he joked back, chuckling softly. Engagements sounded like a nightmare. “I thought with her out of the picture, I might grab my chance.” One more joke but he decided not to name Vinda and keep his voice a little lower volume. He still didn’t know exactly what happened even if he did hear the rumor. They spread fast among the pureblood community, but other students didn’t have to know. “Do you like it? If you spin it three times, a classic tune will play. I think it has three songs. Thought I’d tell you before you decide to sleep with it and wake up because of it.”
Quin hoped he made his puffy friend happy with the gift. “It’s fine, I prefer giving presents over receiving them anyways. But if you feel bad about not having anything, I will always accept a kiss,” he teased, pouting his lips playfully. The 10th anniversary was in four years, Quincey didn’t want to think that far ahead. The future was scary. When Adrian stepped closer, the Ravenclaw got curious. What was this? Mr. Passive taking the lead, interesting. “Ah yeah. I remembered we talked about music last summer, but we never actually got to play together,” he said, holding the strap of his Viola bag. “So how about now?”
