With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Richard had been dating Flora for a few months now and knew that that day was her birthday. He had gone out of his way to make it special for her. Having taken good measure of what the room of requirement could do he had made his plans. He had arranged with his mother’s house elf that she would cook and elf pop it into the room. Music would be playing softly in the background and the room would at least try to look like a cozy place, not unlike a log cabin, or so he told himself. Having owl ordered the present he wanted to give her he hoped that it would be right for her.
The thing was that with Hogsmeade off limits he had had no chance to go out and look for something, which was why he had done what he did. Now he was walking with her on his left arm, guiding her through one of the many passages through Hogwarts all the way up to the seventh floor. ’’Almost there Flora, and no I am still not going to tell you where we’re going.’’ With that they had arrived in front of the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy, who was trying to teach trolls to dance. Even though Flora didn’t know that with the blindfold on. ’’I will let go of your arm for a moment, but no peeking until I say so, please.’’
Quickly pacing three times across from the blank wall on the opposite side of the hallway the door materialized. The same looking door as there had been when he had asked for this room the first time. Taking her arm again he led her through the door, soft music already playing in the background and a beautiful table, all provided with what they could possibly need. A fire merrily crackling on the side and an artificial window, like the ministry had on the side. ’’Take off the blindfold and happy birthday beautiful.’’
The entire day Flora had tried to concentrate on school work but every class she shared with her boyfriend (eee how exciting is this guys?!) she had found herself glancing over at him. He was so dreamy that she'd even gotten in minor trouble for not answering a professor when they called upon her in class. Why was the usually intensely academically involved student so distracted today, many may have wondered? Her friends had all been amazingly generous with love and presents so the teenager's heart was filled to the brim but then Richard had said he had something special planned as well.
"You're lucky I'm one of the more trusting of my House," Flora said with a nervous chuckle as she let the Hufflepuff guide her through the maze of Hogwarts hallways. Instead of chewing on her lip from the nerves, the girl focused on how warm his body was where she had her arm tucked into his. "Ok I promise," Flora waited, her hand raised to where it had been tucked in with Richard's for a good few seconds. It was almost as if she were a perfect marble statue, though her chocolate locks moved gently with the rise and fall of her chest.
When Richard brought her through another door, Flora could hear the soft music and the delightful smell of food tickled at her nostrils. Her thin lips were curling into a broad smile as she was instructed to remove her blindfold; her long fingernails eagerly clawed the material away so that she could finally see the beautifully romantic setting.
Ha! Someone like Greyson would never even conceive of something so beautiful let alone pull it off (he'd be too busy pulling himself) and the idea that she'd be forced into a loveless life because she was a Selwyn? This moment, in Flora's romantic and silly teenaged girl brain, was a perfect middle finger up at him. "Richard, this is beautiful," she gushed, taking in the set on the table and the detail of a fireside nearby.
"Wow, you've really thought of everything haven't you? I'm a lucky girl," she grinned widely as she reached out towards him to take his hand, which she would give a quick squeeze to. "What's for dinner?"
Holding his breath slightly as he waited for her reaction to what he had been cooking up in his mind for the last few days at the very least, if not weeks he waited. Finally the liberating words left Flora’s mouth as she reacted very positively to what Richard had cooked up. The light of the fire lighting the room is a magical way, or so the young man thought. Especially as the fire was at that moment lighting Flora from the other side from where he was standing. Not unlike how she had been backed by the light when he had woken up in the hospital wing, making him think back to when he had confessed his feelings to her.
A blush adorning his face as she told him how beautiful it was and that he had thought of everything, only to have him try to play it down. ’’ I’ve tried to think of all that could be seen as pleasant as possible for a special evening, for a very special young woman. Though I think I am the lucky boy here.’’ He meant it, he felt very lucky with her as his girlfriend. If he had known how it could feel to belong with someone, he would have pushed through his personal discomfort years ago. Taking her offered hand he led her to a chair that he pulled back and placed at the table.
Normally the table would be bigger and they’d both be sitting at the head or something, but he didn’t really feel like that. Which is why it was smaller than conventional, but they would be able to at least touch each other during the meal. ’’For dinner we have an entrée of soup with a light wine, the main is Salmon, which is kind of a specialty from Libby, with a fitting wine and finally ice cream for dessert. I may have allowed her to go crazy with that…also if requested the wine will be non alcoholic.’’
Richard wasn’t a total dunce when it came to food, but he wasn’t too well known for the finer cuisine. Which is why he had asked their family elf Libby to help him with it. That and he wasn’t too knowledgeable about Flora’s favourite foods, he admitted somewhat ashamed to himself. He just seated himself and hoped for the best as he placed his hand next to hers. ’’The floor is all yours Libby.’’ With that sentence Libby would know what to do as he directed all his attention to Flora.
