With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Positive Traits: vivacious, ambitious, artistic, charismatic, debonair, lover of the odd, protector of the weak, dealer of justice and speaker of truth
Flora likes to chew on her water colour pencils and when she draws with them, there'll often be several poking out between her teeth at any given time. Her artistic style is more abstract, particularly in love with the works of Picasso. Because if she wanted to make things lifelike, she'd just take a photo, you know? Flora also adores headbands and pretty little hair pieces; it's rare that she'll be seen out of bed without something in her hair. Flora enjoys poking the bear, batting the beehive, stirring the pot because the mayhem, the chaos... it's addictive to her.
Likes: being social, bright colours, her daddy, her brother and sister, Slytherin quidditch team, jewelry, the smell of a fireplace, the silly little house elves, feeling her long hair against the flesh of her back, icecream
Dislikes: mean people, licorice, her emotioncally unavailable mother, alcoholics, having cold feet, cockroaches, purists, bullies, the smell of lavender (why is it in literally everything?), potions class because you have to cut and crush some really icky stuff,
Boggart: a mouse
Mirror of Erised: Pierre, Vinda, Mélisande & Father all hugging her and smiling with cartoon like lovehearts floating about everywhere.
Patronus: a flying fox
HISTORY
The unfortunate product of an extra-marital affair between Mélisande Selwyn nee Rosier and her husband's brother, Pollux, Flora's maternal history was kept very much a guarded secret. That was until Flora began to look far too much like her half-brother, half-cousin Pierre. Even more so like him than her stunning cousin (half-sister) Vinda.
2010 - Flora's first sign of magic was making the paint pots change colour at will with the easel that her father had set up. He had wondered why she had all these different colours on her painting when he'd only given her the three primary colours and Flora was very proud to show him what she could do.
2012 - The pureblood ball that she attended with her cousins, father and aunt (mother) where an 8 year old Flora got to hear the whispers about how things weren't quite... right. After the ball, Flora had asked her father about what had been said and... she found out that Aunty Mélisande was really her mother. Pierre and Vinda were her half-siblings and... she couldn't be happier! She loved the two very much and the idea that she was their sister was... amazing. Though her attempts to be accepted by the pair were often rebuffed.
2015 - Sorted into Slytherin, like her siblings and parents, Flora couldn't be prouder. She was lucky in that she was a pureblood, although some people have disputed this fact as her mother's origins are still unknown. It's a closely guarded secrets still with the family and she's happy to keep it that way for the family's sake.
This class was always an interesting one; their animagus professor was definitely a knowledgeable man that Aiden could respect. Despite the commonly held misconception, the Valentino twins valued intelligence above most things, although even an intelligent muggle was as useful as a toad in their opinion. Helpful to catch flies, but not much else. Still, Aiden held the door to the classroom open as his blonde sister stepped inside and then he walked over to his seat.
It had been unofficially claimed by the Ravenclaw since he'd begun at Hogwarts six years ago. Aiden had been early to almost every class so it was never really an issue... except today. Aiden's jaw clenched as he found the Hufflepuff prefect, ray-o-sunshine sitting in his spot. He glanced over at Alana, who smirked maddeningly, and the young man glared back at his sister before he walked to Grace's side. Well it was not his seat but it was literally the next best thing. Next to.. her.
"Wow, Longbottom, looks like you're wearing your smarty pants this afternoon," Aiden said with the tiniest smirk as he pulled out his quill, ink and book. "Apart from anything else, it is a a decent deterrent to the less capable wizards to stop them from playing god," he added to the conversation. "Although Miranda Goshawk writes that 'for reasons unknown, snakes and birds are easier than any other to conjure from thin air'. I guess that's evident in our learning 'avis' in charms class." Aiden had read the quote from their text book, his finger following the words as he said them. Then he looked back up to the teacher.
