With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

It was time to go. Nadya had been waiting for this night for more than a month, for a chance to let loose in a way completely different from spending time alone in the forest. She couldn't yet see Tobias below her window, but she'd given him what she hoped were correct directions. She'd find out soon enough, anyway, when she opened it. It seemed that Papa had put magical locks on the door while she'd been at school this last term, which meant that he'd definitely know if she left the apartment the normal way. So window it had to be, as she'd written to Tobias when they made their plans. Which meant she had to trust magic to not let her fall to her death, but that was why they were wizards, wasn't it?
She tucked the money she was bringing along into the top of one of her stockings, where she'd clearly feel if anyone had sticky fingers, along with her wand. Even though she knew she wouldn't be able to use it around Muggles, it was the only way she was going to get back in the window when she got back. Biting her lip, she reached for one more item, something she had bought when she'd been sent out with Vera the previous weekend. Perhaps she was being too hopeful, but if not, she didn't need herself and Tobias to end up in the same place Scarlett and Teddy were...
Sliding the window open and sticking her head out into the cool winter air, she scanned the sidewalk below for a particular curly-haired head. Touching her wand to her throat, she whispered "sonorus," ensuring that even though she was whispering, Tobias would be able to hear her on the street. "Up here!" she hissed. "Help me get down." She was shivering already, but with the kind of party she was about to go to, soon she wouldn't have any need for a coat.

Tobias was both nervous and excited about this evening. Ever since they agreed to the plans, he had been looking forward to it. If anything, this was what kept him going through the cold and dark months. The Hogwarts holidays were great in general. Toby met Grace at her parent’s inn and has spent some time there without being send away. It was the place where he freshened up for tonight. The usually worn out young man now looked decently taken care of. Toby might have used some of Arthur’s au de toilette and borrowed without asking. But they were friends, right? Sure, Artie would forgive him. He wanted to do it good. Nadya deserved to have a great time. Especially with everything that happened at Hogwarts just before the holidays. It meant they wouldn’t be able to meet at Hogsmeade for a while. So, he had to make this night count and make it a blast.
Tobias had finally learned to disappate. He did so and apparated as close to Nadya’s street as possible without being noticed. If they were found out by their dad it’d be a nightmare. While he was there, he casually walked around until he was given the signal. When her voice rang into his ears, Toby turned around and looked up at the apartment. This was the moment. He whipped out a doormat and cast an anti-gravity charm on it. He also cast a ‘notice-me-not’ charm bubble around himself. Afterall this was a muggle neighborhood. Then he stepped on the mat and levitated upwards as if Aladdin never got the lamp but only the flying carpet. “Look at you all ready to party hardy,” he grinned as they met at eye level. “Princess of the woods, queen of herbs, may I take you to another world?” The curly haired young man asked as he extended a hand. Toby would never stop being a silly goofball.

As Tobias levitated toward her, Nadya put one foot up on the windowsill, ready to climb out. She had her doubts about the steadiness of the mat with both their weight on it. At least she wasn't wearing high heels--she always preferred her feet to be more firmly in contact with the ground, plus she was tall already. And as he hadn't fallen yet, maybe the magic would hold them after all. "I hope you're hiding that flying carpet," she said as she took his hand, stretching her right foot out to catch her balance on the mat. "Wouldn't want that of all things to ruin our night." If flying carpets--proper ones--were legal in other countries, why not here? But, she reflected, it wasn't the first stupid Ministry decision and it wouldn't be the last.
"Ready to be your queen of herbs tonight," she said, a playful smirk on her face as she placed her left foot down and pushed herself out of the window altogether, clinging tightly to Tobias's hand in hopes that she wouldn't lose her balance. She didn't normally think of herself as clumsy, but as she had fallen so hard from a simple Flipendo earlier that year, one could never be too careful. "And I mean it. I have a potion you might like, if you want. Nothing fancy, but should make us cheerful for the night." There wasn't much in the vial she had, since she didn't want anyone asking why she was making it, but they only needed it for the two of them.
Reaching behind herself, she pushed the window back into its place, whispering a quick "colloportus" to make the latch close. "And now we can go. I'm the guide in the woods, but you're the guide in the city."
Tobias place his hand on her back to stabilize them both. It was only a tiny space they were standing on. The idea looked better in his head, then again he was pretty high when he came up with it. However, since it seemed to work, he wasn’t complaining. “I’ll undo the charm and hide it at the trash, don’t worry,” he assured her. They slowly descended and he did just that. They hid in the alley from where he planned to disapparate. It was probably best not to tell her he only recently learned this spell. “It’s just a regular shitty mat now. Let’s hope nobody takes it or we’ll have to be creative at getting you back.”
“Sweet Merlin and Jesus Nadezhda, you truly are a genius. I can’t state that fact often enough,” he cheered but kept the volume down. Toby kissed her cheek to show his gratitude without shouting it out on the streets. “I packed some stuff but I think keeping it light tonight is the best option. With you around I don’t need any heavy stuff to be entertained,” he told her and handed a hand so they could apparate to the underground party.
“Allow me,” he said just before they went. They arrived in Camden Town, a popular alternative neighbourhood among the youth of England. It was known for its pubs, markets and clubs. “Now this place we’re going is an illegal psychedelic rave. I can guarantee that ninety percent of the people used something and they’re all muggles. It’s a little bit mean of me but I always get a good laughter from putting a charm on the art that’s displayed. The reaction of the folks is pure gold,” he chuckled as he shared some of the mischief he was up to tonight.

Nadya had yet to take the potion that she knew would make her feel light and bubbly, but even Toby's simple kiss was getting her in the mood to party. This was a different kind of freedom than she usually dreamed of--in a packed room of wild Muggles instead of alone in the endlessly green forest--but it seemed to thrill her nearly as much, or was that just how close she was holding herself to Tobias as they prepared to Apparate?
They seemed to squeeze ever so closer together as they Apparated through the streets of London. Nadya hadn't done Side-Along since the previous year, when she'd squeaked right into turning seventeen before the test, but Tobias was the one who knew where the party was. It was a side of London that Nadya rarely got to see, that she doubted any of her family bothered with knowing about, not even Lyuba, who was still too young for this sort of thing until she turned seventeen, Nadya thought.
"So they're all Muggles here," she murmured after Tobias, looking admiringly at the rather unassuming building that she knew would contain something far more exciting. Her Papa had grown up in the Muggle world before he went to school, so the Karevs had some Muggle things around, but it wasn't like they hung around Muggles too often. "Do you think they'll notice anything strange about us? Or do they simply think we're humans?" To her, it was a mystery.
Digging out the chain from beneath her dress that carried the vial of potion, she unscrewed it and held it out. "Now. So that it takes effect in a few minutes. Half for each of us should be enough."

They arrived at the area and Toby looked around to check if they hadn’t accidentally been seen. Situation clear. Time to party. The lonely wolf was very excited to spend this night with one of his favorite people. He smiled brightly ay Nadya and wrapped an arm around her shoulder as he started walking towards the entrance. “Yep, all muggles. I thought it’d be saver and also muggle parties are a lot more exciting,” he said with a big grin on his face. “What we are doesn’t exist for them except for in fairy tales. Though I think you might turn a few heads tonight, I don’t think anyone will really approach us.”
His eyes shimmered when she held out the potion. “Aw yeah, I can’t wait,” he said and took his half before passing it back with a quick peck on her cheek. His dark curls were almost bouncing on top of his head. “We’re sooo gonna be the dancing queen and king,” he proclaimed. NADEZHDA KAREVA,

With a glimmer in her eyes, Nadya took the vial back from Tobias and drank the rest of it in one shot. In mere minutes she'd be relaxed enough to feel like she was floating--without actually doing so like Willy with his billywigs. For all the laws that she was willing to break, she knew the consequences about the Statute of Secrecy would be the worst. At least she could pass for a regular human when she needed to, if one rather more blonde than the average. While she would be happy to declare her heritage to the world, there was a certain thrill in knowing she was capable of entrancing Muggles without them even knowing why.
The way a simple kiss on the cheek already sent shivers down her spine, as if Tobias had been kissing her full-on instead, told her that the potion was already working. Her blue eyes traced over him, how he looked as if the prospect of a party had brought a breath of life into him that hadn't been there the last time she'd seen him. Even his hair seemed to respond to it, the curls shinier and bouncier.
"And now we go inside." Nadya took Toby's hand, pulling him forward and gesturing him to open the door. "And we dance." Whether it was the potion, the faint echoes of the beat inside, or the veela in her, she didn't know--perhaps all three--but she craved it suddenly and deeply.

The potion was doing fine work. Tobias felt like he was being absorbed by the music. His body moved without thinking to the beat. Everything was slightly prettier than usual. In this rare floaty moment he didn’t have to worry if he would have food or a roof above the head tomorrow. He didn’t have to fear pain or death. There was just this rush, the beat and… Nadya. Damn, he knew her long enough for her natural veela charm to have less effect on him. The potion however was totally resetting his resistance. Or was it something else that pulled him towards her?
Tobias was being pulled towards her by an invisivle thread and before he knew it they were dancing in perfect sync. In the corner of his eye he spotted a group of people around their age. Everyone of them was very fixed on a piece of string art that was displayed in the dance hall. They definitely had used something that caused visuals. “Check this,” he said as he quietly twirrled with his wand. The piece of string art started glowing and the group was making excited noises. Toby chuckled and put his wand back. He wasn’t afraid of being caught. The Ministry already wanted him dead. They couldn’t kill him twice.
