With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Non-verbal spells... right. Grace could do this, couldn't she? Biting her lip as she read the pairings, Grace stood up to go stand with Alana Valentino, someone who intimidated the beejeebus out of her without even speaking. She always had, ever since first year. She was just so intelligent and put together and a lot of things Grace wished that she could be.
Opening her mouth, Grace had just been about to ask Alana who should go first when suddenly, there was a not-so-nice exchange coming nearby. Oh dear. It had appeared that Scarlett had shot a jinx without even having a discussion with Sam. Grace shot her friend a sympathetic look. If she could have, she would have invited him to come over to her and Alana. They could have a threesome group, that would have been fine.
Turning around to Alana, Grace suggested, "I... I can go first? If you want... then you can do me?" After sorting it out and the two coming to the agreement that Grace should go first, the girl stepped back and reached for her wand, her brows furrowing as she waved her wand and thought of the jinx she wanted to use - the Dancing Feet jinx which she aimed at Alana.
Morgan had leaned back in her chair as her eyes went onto her girlfriend nearby, sending her a wink and bit her lip as she eyed the board for a moment. This was one of her favorite classes, and no one can tell her otherwise. A lot has happened in the past, and she needed to learn how to defend herself more. Sure, she was pretty good at facing people in a playful duel and she wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty. The Young twins knew well enough not to make the redhead angry and yet, Elijah had a habit of being annoying as hell.
"Sam, stop acting like a damn child." she said, snickering a bit. No one liked a tattle tale. She licked her lips with a cocky smile on her face. This class was going to be fun, and she was well prepared for any of it.
David was seated in the back, his face buried in the book while the professor explained what they were going to do during this class. His eyes didn't leave the book at all until Sam called Scarlett out, making the loner boy look up with a slight frown. Why do people want to play dirty in this class? But then, he should know that answer because some of these students secretly wanted to murder each other. Perhaps that can be the next novel he can work on. A Hogwarts Murder Mystery. Question was: Would anyone read it? Probably not.
He sighed softly as he closed his book, and put it in his bag before he were to lose it. He heard Morgan call out to Sam, making David cock his head to the side and he rolled his eyes as he sat back in his seat.
Elijah was seated beside his sister, his arm brushing up against hers as he watched the class and he had looked over at his sister when a confused look on his face. No, he didn't want to be partnered up with her cause he knew damn well she'd make his life hell with her magic. There was no way he'd allow his sister to kick his ass in front of their peers, and for a quick moment he wanted to move over in his seat. "I swear, if he partners me up with you, I'll start crying mercy."
He was joking of course, he wouldn't cry. The only time his sister made him cry was when they were tiny little kids and she stole his last candy bar he worked hard for. The little devil.
Okay, Ozzy was a little late for class and did he care? Probably not. Even though his professor wasn't going to take any of his bull crap, Ozzy would try to butter him up. Chances are that it won't work because this professor was too much of a saint (or so he saw it that way). He wasn't going to get away with the stuff he was going to pull this year. Sure, he should behave and not have his father come in for a visit because of him.
Ozzy pushed through the doors, ducking his head down and quickly took a seat in hopes he wouldn't get caught coming in late but knowing his luck, he would.
Melinda hadn't bothered with introducing herself. It wasn't that she was shy or anything but she's been here for the last seven years. She liked Professor O'Connor well enough but Melinda didn't see the point in writing an essay about herself when she would be graduating at the end of the term.
What was she supposed to say? Melinda hadn't told anyone about being a vampire but there was no denying it complicated things a bit. She'd be seventeen forever so Melinda had no clue what she'd do after graduation. When the Professor called for partners Melinda noticed that there were a few students that still hadn't paired up. Spotting a lone Ravenclaw in the back of the room Melinda approached the boy. "Hello. um...Do you mind if we partner for this exercise? Almost everyone seems to have paired off already. I'm Melinda, by the way."

Adrian's introduction had been short and stiff. He knew that, but he was pretty sure no one else in the world cared. He understood that introductions were supposed to get everyone relaxed and to make sure they knew everybody, but they rarely had the intended effect. He didn't really care for group work either, but at least it explained the introductions. There would be a few people in the class too self-involved to know anyone outside of their circle, so if they had a vague idea of who their partner was, it would be less awkward. He eyed the kids coming in late with a critical eye, rolling his eyes at them. They had a bell for a reason, why couldn't they use their ears and come to class on time? Now the teacher would probably repeat himself. The Hufflepuff sighed softly, standing slowly and looking around for his partner Morgan.
As he approached, he watched the scene unfolding before his eyes. Adrian's mouth fell open, an eyebrow raising from the incredulousness of it all. Had the girl seriously thrown a spell at an unarmed classmate? He swiftly turned his attention to his partner, making sure to pull out his wand so that he didn't get hit like that either. He stopped in front of her, his eyes narrowing as she called Sam a child. He felt that she was quite ridiculous in saying this, but it wasn't his battle to fight. He thought that the houses were supposed to stick together, but Morgan was proving otherwise. He patiently waited for her to notice him, before commenting, "Do not do that to me. Get out your wand; we're stuck together. You can go first but wait for me to be able defend, okay?" Words: 293 Tags: MORGAN REIDJACK O'CONNOR
ack nodded curtly in response to Scarlett and then the new student, Raouf's, excuses. They seemed decent, and he certainly didn't blame Raouf for getting lost. The castle was huge and very hard to navigate when you were a newcomer. That's why he was a bit more lenient with his first years over the first couple of weeks. His eyebrows did, however, raise as Ozzy burst in late. "Just a reminder again for those who missed it. From now on, if you are late without a good reason, points will be deducted. If you make a habit of being late, you may find yourself in detention as well."
When Sam Caverly, a Slytherin boy in sixth year answered his question, Jack nodded. A small smile crossed his lips as he said, "That's absolutely correct. 10 points to Slytherin, Mr. Caverly. Your opponents not knowing when you're about to strike is a great way to get an upper hand."
A moment later Scarlett didn't discuss the logistics and threw a jinx at Sam straight away. Letting out a sigh underneath his breath, Jack nodded at Sam's request to change partners before raising his voice slightly. "As we're only practicing non-verbal spells today you must discuss who will be going first and give your partner a chance to block the spell. Keep in mind, this is a beginner's class. If I see anyone not being responsible with this task, you will be asked to take a seat and I will be having a word with your after class."
6'0". IRISH. BIG HEART. LOYAL. BRAVE. WORKAHOLIC. BISEXUAL. SINGLE. distinguishing features: a big scar runs across jack's left cheek credit for award goes to ollie! <3
Sam allowed himself a moment to recover, catching Grace's look of sympathy. He smiled slightly, happy to know that he still had friends in this class. Some people were just arses that didn't give a toss about others. He wished he'd been paired with Grace or Raouf from the start. It was no fun being jinxed. He could still feel tiny, residual jitters in his legs. He wished he wasn't this shaken (mind the pun) by Scarlett, but he'd just been feeling fragile lately. It didn't help when people were mean just 'cause.
He bit back a retort when Morgan tried to provoke him. He kept his gaze away from her, staring pointedly at the window. He took a deep breath. Sam hadn't expected the first lesson of the year to be so damn exciting. He'd answered a question right, been surprise jinxed, and called a child. Plus, he hadn't cast a single spell of his own yet! He turned to Raouf, taking his wand out, "Alright, would you like to go first? I will actually defend it this time." Sam didn't feel like being jinxed twice in ten minutes. He raised his wand, thinking hard about defensive spells.
Non-verbal jinx practicing, huh? This should get interesting and she was paired with the lovely Mavi. “Oh, Mavi. You don’t need to use a jelly legs jinx to get me wobbly on my feet,” she winked as she threw out a shameless flirt.
The Gryffindor smiled when the adorable Sam came in, she adored the little snake. It was rare for her to get along with Slytherins but Sam was a good guy. She leaned into his arm and grinned. “You look good, bud,” she said, sad to see he had to leave for the assignment. “Come and find me after class. I’ve got a new set of chocolate frogs send by my nasty grandma that need to be eaten as quickly as possible.” Throwing away would be a waste.
“So, Mavi, shall we dance?” She held out her hand like a prince asking a princess for a ball.
When the partners were written on the board, Aiden groaned internally. Why on Dio's green Earth had he been paired with her? His dark blue eyes glanced over at his sister's girlfriend as quickly as humanly possible - as if the very sight of her would make his eyes melt in their sockets. He felt a nudge from Alana and he looked at the board once more. He almost snorted as he read that the vampire had been paired against Grace. "You're going to have to try and play nice," Aiden said under his breath. Alana was a proficient witch, but she needed to be reminded that it was more important to stay under the radar. He could hear the breath get pushed out in a barely audible hiss from his sister as he slid his chair out and stood.
"Alright, Kaylie, ladies before gentlemen," Aiden motioned to her with his wand ready to block her. She was only a half-blood, so he wasn't worried at all. "Take your best shot." Of course, he did his best not to get distracted by the fighting snakes, but there was a slight smirk on his face when Professor O'Conner had to 'remind' his students to play nice. It was very difficult for Aiden to come up with a suitably nice jinx to throw at Kaylie.
And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain

Mavican didn't mind pairs and she was actually quite amused to be paired up with a friend. Aiden was lucky this time though when she saw the girlfriend of Alana's being his partner she started to doubt his luck. Mavican rolled her eyes as he watched them and then eyed Grace with a smile. "You can do it sweetie." She told her and rubbed her arm supportively before letting her be Alana's victim.
"That's gonna be brutal.." she whispered to herself and eyed Faith with a smirk. This was going to be fun. She took her friend's hand and took her wand out of her pocket.

The smile that passed Alana’s lips was not entirely genuine as the Professor replied that they would indeed be learning some Dark Arts theory. She was pleased by that, but slightly less thrilled about her apparent lack of knowledge regarding the N.E.W.T.s curriculum. Alana tried not to let it show as she fiddled with the intricately carved handle of her wand whilst the other students finished up with Jack’s introductory session. Her cherubic face lit up once more when she heard the activity that would be their lesson for the day. Jinxing her fellow classmates was always pleasurable.
Alana tilted her head to try and peek at the pairings despite the fact that Jack was obscuring her sight where he stood. Longbottom, Alana’s ill-intentioned gaze scanned for the sunflower that took up everyone’s precious time with her constant stumbling over words. She nudged Aiden; he read her mind almost before his blue eyes caught her own. ”But ... why?” she whispered and elegantly moved from her chair towards her victim partner. As she did, she let her fingers trail along Kaylie’s shoulders as she passed in a semi-supportive fashion.
Somewhere in the background was a little commotion about being unmanned... Alana’s thin lips twitched into a small smile at the ingenuity of Scarlett but she did not get involved. ”Are you going to send bunnies at me, Longbottom?” Alana mocked, crossing her arms over her small chest with her wand poking out, quietly confident that the Puff wouldn’t be able to get a spell cast this century.
To Alana’s surprise, though, Grace’s wand pointed at her and emitted some kind of magic. The vampire whipped out of her casual stance with only a second to spare with a forceful protego command that kept the Ravenclaw from dancing about like an idiot. With a rough catch of her breath, Alana adjusted her ruffled golden locks and raised her left brow in Grace’s direction. ”Almost,” Alana conceded. It felt like salt in a wound and her expression reflected as such. ”Prepare yourself,” Alana took a dueling stance and with only two failed attempts to muster she cast ebublio jinx at the blonde because Alana thought she was an air head... may as well engulf her in one big bubble.
Non-verbal magic. Like that was hard - or maybe it was, for these pathetic little mudbloods and half-breeds. They were less talented when it came to magic, after all. Vinda almost felt pity for the ones who had pureblood parents who decided to marry and procreate with those who were lesser. Their parents had ruined their chances to be good at magic before their lives had even started.
Tapping her nails on the desk in front of her, Vinda's steely gaze drifted over the Professor at the front for a moment before glancing away because what godawful hair. All redheads were such an eye sore and she felt the urge to avada kedavra them whenever they decided to ruin her day by appearing in her line of vision. Pierre definitely needed to figure out a way to get rid of them from the wizarding world alongside werewolves, or perhaps she would take matters into her own hands.
Rebecca sighed to herself as she noticed just about everyone else had a partner. That is except for one other student. It was also the last person in the world Becca wanted to be working with but it looked like that couldn't be helped. Still Becca was still hoping that maybe by some miracle some other student would turn up late so she wouldn't have to pair with Vinda.
The sixth year prefect made her way over to Vinda despite her hopes that someone would save her from this situation. She still wanted a good grade to stay in Professor O'Connor's class. Rebecca planned to take it again in her seventh year since so often she's heard how DADA is a very important class. Gathering up her courage Rebecca turned to her roommate. "So since everyone else seems to have a partner I guess I'm your's. Do you want to go first or should I?"
