With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Rebecca didn't mind sharing class time with the younger students. It seemed like it would be an interesting experience, and maybe she could offer to help someone if they ended up stuck on whatever was being taught. As Professor Savage asked for introductions Rebecca wasn't sure what she should say. Since beginning her first year she's been rather shy because of all the bullying she's had to endure because of her blood status.
The Irish girl sighed softly and began to speak. "My name is Rebecca Sheridan, sixth year. Sometimes people call me Becca and I'm a prefect." It was one of the most obvious truths she could give but Becca didn't want to talk about the most truthful thing about her, which was sometimes she was bullied for being muggleborn. Rebecca thought for a moment about what lie she could tell about herself. "I have no siblings." she finally said.
Zoe listened intently as Faith Zabini answered the little Gemini with a very in depth answer. Her face clouded with sympathy though as Zabini mentioned that the young girl's mother had died from the werewolves. "Oh Gem, I am so sorry to hear of your loss," the teacher said with soft smile. "I definitely think you're a bunny kinda girl though, and Faith - five points to Gryffindor for getting involved. Love your work girl," she said with a grin.
"Blair's actually a pretty cool middle name," Zoe replied as Sam guessed that was the lie. "There's a famous actress in Hollywood - well, she's a Selma Blair.. but she's pretty cool. And I reckon you're probably rocking out the sunnies so... is the lie that your parents have divorced?" it was very common in the muggle world, but she'd found amongst old world England that most marriages, even if they appeared loveless, remained intact. "Two points to Sam for his.. I think it was an attempt?"
As Sam did give his truths and lie, Zoe chewed on the bottom of her lip. These children's lives seemed so... bleak. "Oh Sam, I hope the orphan thing is the lie? I became an orphan in my last year at school. It affected me pretty badly; I had to repeat my year in the end," Zoe said with sadness making her eyes a little more shiny than normal.
"Oh Becca, hmmm... I think I've heard of another Sheridan. And I know that you're definitely a prefect soooo I guess the lie is that you have no siblings?" Zoe asked with a tilt of her head, which let the brown locks cascade down her arm like liquid chocolate.
"Ok great sharing guys! Now let's move on to today's lesson," Zoe said as she slid off the table and moved over to the whiteboard. "Just out of interest, who here is muggleborn? Raise your hand - see, I'm one too," she said as her hand raised. "Am I right to say that there's a lot of pureblood, halfblood, muggleborn rivalry here? I feel like there is - I've heard a bit mudblood slurs here and there in the hallways. Obviously the older students in here have a decent background in muggle studies so what I want to do is get you to partner up - preferably with someone from a different year and house, and for you to talk about what you know of muggles. Then each of you will report back to the class one fact you learnt from your partner. As you're a bunch of young adults, I'll let you choose your own partners. If it turns into a circus though, I'll crack my whip. Alright - go."
Muggle Studies was an absolute ball of a time. Vi had been taking it last year and whilst she enjoyed it, this Professor seemed like a hoot! After participating in the little two truths, one lie game, Vi heeded Professor Savage's advice and seeked out her own partner... hmm, someone not in her year and house...
Eventually, she landed on Faith with her beautiful big eyes and funky dunky nose ring. Zipping over to her before anybody else could, Vi flopped into the chair next to her. "Hiya!" she said brightly, pulling her legs up so she could sit cross-legged. "You wanna pair together? I'm Viola... Vi! Um... oh, so you know muggles, they talk using a what-si-majig... er, a phone? Those things they hold up to their ears! Isn't that just super duper?"
Rebecca nodded as Professor Savage said she heard of another Sheridan. "Yes, My older sister Nora. She graduated the previous term." As Professor Savage began the lesson Becca's hand went up when she asked who among the students were muggleborn. She smiled as the Professor told the class she was muggleborn. It was good to know she wasn't alone in that regard, since so often she was made to feel worthless because of her blood status.
The Slytherin tried not to roll her eyes as Savage mentioned that she's heard mudblood in the hallways every so often. Rebecca was so sick of the pureblood muggleborn halfblood rivalry. She was even sicker of hearing others called a mudblood. Spotting her fellow prefect not from her own house Becca made her way over to fifth year Olivia Jones. "Hi. Olivia, isn't it? Is it ok if we partner up? Tell me what you know about muggles. One thing I know is that instead of apparition to go places they use a vehicle called a car to take them wherever it is they need to go."

Honestly Ollie was sort of enjoying this and when the professor spoke about her muggle blood the blonde blushed a bit. She wasn't even sure if she had muggle blood because she didn't know which of her parents did or didn't have. Sure they lived in a muggle town but only because they tried to fit in with everyone else.
A girl approached her when they were told to partner up and Ollie looked at her with a small smile. "Of course I don't mind!" she said and patted on the seat next to her own. This would be fun right?
"Oh cars yes.." she nodded and shivered a bit. "They also communicate through devices, my brothers use them a lot."

Gem looked around for a partner and bit her lip. People were already finding some and she wasn't. The girl fiddled with her shirt and looked around to see if she could find anyone who wanted to be her partner. She was a nice girl, she was sure they knew that too!
