With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Dear Nadezhda,
My colleagues have informed me that a few months ago one of them saw you in the company of a certain fellow. In fact, during that time I was convinced that you were asleep in your room. And yet I've been told that you were at some party with some rather dodgy character.
Now, I don't want to assume the worst about this boy, but you must remember that the likes of him are no good in our current situation. In fact so not good, that I shouldn't even be sending you this.
I love you, my dear, but please remember that my reputation is at stake here, and by extent, our livelihood.

Papa,
What's going on? Is it really necessary to write me in English when you know someone's reading our letters? If the bitch speaks Russian I'll be incredibly surprised. If only I could write Russian to everyone I wanted to write to!
Anyway.
I'm seventeen. And my birthday is next month, so I'm almost an adult for Muggles too. I can see who I want and go to parties if I want. I'm still in one piece, as you can see. And to be honest, I belong with other creatures, and just because werewolves are being persecuted by the likes of your Minister boss and his friends doesn't mean I can't be with one.

Dear Nadya,
I can't send you letters in Russian, especially after you've been seen with a werewolf. It just screams that I'm trying to cover something up! Especially as I am the Head of my department. If the higher-up's got wind of this, I'd get sacked faster than you can blink. I'd also prefer if you didn't use such epithets to describe my colleague. She's actually rather pleasant if you get to know her, though our thoughts on certain topics differ greatly.
It is hard for me to accept that you're all grown up, my dear, and I don't want you thinking I'm angry at you for liking someone, no matter werewolf or not. I'm just very worried, because, at least according to the current whispers in the halls, there are people who want me out of office and replaced with someone very much anti-werewolf. I'm not asking you to stay away from werewolves because of me, but because me losing my job would mean no income for us as a family.
My wild child, don't stray too far from home.
Love, Papa.
P.S. I will keep writing to you in English, maybe that'll help our situation somehow.

Dear Papa,
Don't you think people would expect us to write in Russian? Or are they against immigrants now too? Well, if you insist, just don't write where he's living. I know London is a big city, but it's still a particular part of the country. Better not to say.
About Hope (the one that's not me): I don't find her pleasant in the slightest. She hovers over everyone like a particularly persistent mosquito. Perhaps you're being distracted by the blonde beauty, but if you're going to move on I would hope it's with someone who doesn't want Toby or anyone else murdered. She doesn't know what Сука means anyway, so I'll call her that if I want.
I would also hope that you might be able to change their minds instead of getting sacked. Don't people listen to you, or are you facing the same problem as I am?

Dear Nadya,
I thought it over, and you're right. Trying to talk around the subject in English would be much more suspicious than writing in Russian.
The less we talk about him in letters, the better. Though I would like to know more about him, and, if you are to see him, I beg of you to be careful where you go and who you meet. The Ministry has ears and eyes everywhere.
I am very insulted that you would think that I have any feelings for her. You know full well I don't take my wedding ring off for more than necessary. I'll be faithful to your mother until my grave, and if it turns out she hasn't been faithful, well... I don't intend to date anyone else. And I didn't raise you to be so crude.
I cannot speak up. It would cost us too much. There is a fragile peace in the department, and anything I say can be turned against me. Perhaps you would like to brand me a coward, but I'm trying to do what's best for us.

Dear Papa,
I would say you could meet him, but I think you know he wouldn't want to come see any Ministry officials, certainly not ones who oversee the Werewolf Capture Unit. He can't afford to trust like that. I'll be careful not to reveal too much about where he is, but I'll express my opinions whenever I feel it needs to be done. It's the least I can do.
Perhaps you should run for Minister. I think there's enough people around who are sick of Avery. Am I allowed to call him crude words? Wasn't his family a bunch of Death Eaters anyway? I could dig up some dirt on him...
...you know, I wrote that as a joke, but maybe you should. If only because me running would be an even worse joke.

Dear Nadya,
I understand. It would look even worse on my reputation if I were to just sit and have a chat with him, rather than turning him in. You can tell me about him once we are home. I'd still like to know about him at a later date -- you know I wouldn't take kindly to anyone who'd upset you. But that can wait for safer times.
I've considered the thought, but, if am perfectly honest with you...I'd rather retire. Politics are terribly exhausting, and sometimes I damn the day I decided to be a diplomat. Then again, without that I wouldn't have you and your sisters. I doubt your campaign would fare any better than mine, because the Brits are quite conservative as I've noticed... I think you're capable of starting a rather unsightly, if very necessary revolution, my dear. And the last thing this society needs is another war.

Dear Papa,
Brits are so conservative, it's true. Look at how the pureblood families act even after they had a war that exposed all their filth. So have you ever considered moving back to Russia? I kid on that too, you know, but only a little. I wish I could remember more of what it was like. It seems like home, even if it's far away.
Sometimes I feel like we need a revolution, but rest assured, I'm still trapped in school for the time being. I feel as if certain staff members want to squash any independence out of us. Wasn't the Headmistress supposed to be a hero? And yet she supports this Ministry woman now, like a coward.

Dear Nadya,
I have, but only after you and your sisters are all grown up and you don't need me to take care of you. So, for retirement, perhaps. But by the looks of it, that won't happen for at least another 10 years. Sometimes I miss it a lot, especially around Christmas.
This is a rather delicate situation, and I'm sure that someone as experienced as the Headmistress knows what she is doing. Like I said, a war is not what this society needs. It doesn't seem like they've learned anything from the previous ones, so, in my opinion, another one would just create more problems than we can deal with.
And of course. I count the days until we all meet again.
