With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
maybe it is all a test/'cause i feel like i'm the worst, so i always act like i'm the best

As Mia-Rose's mother was a potionmaker by trade, the Slytherin girl was always rather confident going into this class. While she couldn't remember off the top of her head if her mother had ever made the Draught of Peace for her, she knew that she must have made it at some point, so perhaps it would be familiar. The ingredients were certainly things they had around the house. Besides, the potion might be actually useful this time--Mia-Rose felt like she could use something to calm her down sometimes. Though she was often stubborn and ambitious, she was also deeply aware of other people's opinions about her. So being in front of a crowd always seemed to get her adrenaline going, and not always in a helpful way.
But, she should be good at Potions, she thought, and thank Merlin they didn't have to work in pairs today, so she could avoid having someone screw up her potion and make her look bad. She pinched a bit of the powdered moonstone between her fingers, stirring it in slowly and watching the substance change colors. So far, the class seemed peaceful, and people had actually answered the questions right--practically a miracle, Mia-Rose thought, glancing over at the noisiest of her classmates. Maybe the fumes from the potions they were brewing were making them more peaceful.

being late should have been a personality trait of brayden's by now, if he was early for a lesson, the world would most likely end and armageddon would happen, but walking in to the lesson ten minutes late to the lesson which happened to be potions would most likely end him up in detention, which he didn't need - well he didn't need his dad to find out more than the detention because a howler would probably be waiting for him.
sliding into his seat, brayden tried to make it less obvious, turning to the person beside him, "can you tell me what i've missed? from the sounds of it, not too much?" he had asked, hoping his seat neighbour would be kind enough to tell him so he could catch up as soon as possible.
when there's nowhere else to run/is there room for one more son?

To put it simply, Skylar hated Potions. It took a level of concentration that he might have at the best of times, but seeing as the best of times hadn't happened for him in years--he didn't have it. Not to mention the young professor who had showed up this year, who rarely seemed interested in actually showing anyone how to make the potions, so Skylar ended up tuning out a good portion of most of the lessons.
At least he could see some point in learning to make this one--both he and Morgan could probably use some peace sometimes. Considering his usual level of skill in this class, though, he wasn't sure he wanted to drink it when he was done. Maybe better to stick to Dio's cigarettes--he reminded himself to ask for more sometime.
One of his classmates slid into the seat next to him, late--Skylar could relate to that, having done it a few times this year himself. He shrugged at the other boy's question, knowing he definitely wasn't qualified to answer. "Don't think you've missed much," he said. "It's the usual--she's sitting there looking bored while we make a potion." Maybe, Skylar thought, he should start adding this one to his list of classes that were better skipped--Defense Against the Dark Arts was already there.

Sitting in the back of Potions, Alex tried his best to make himself small because... the wrath of Professor Tyrell was akin to the wrath of... of Emma Frost, or some other pretty supervillain that appeared in the worn, tattered comics Alex had stashed in his school trunk, and he wanted to avoid her attention entirely. He had no interest in becoming the latest a casualty of her cold yet sharp words.
As she spoke about the potion they were learning about today, Alex kept quiet, occasionally jotting down notes until finally, it was time to get to work and with a few glances at the board, he gathered his ingredients. It was a good thing that they weren't working in pairs this lesson, he wasn't exactly up for the task of conversing with his peers.
