With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
If you read our announcement last week, you would have seen that we have some very exciting things coming up. One of these things are roleplaying challenges where you will win a beautiful award made by Ollie if you receive the most votes for your submission.
For the first challenge, we will be using 100+ word starters written by other roleplayers on the site. This starter must be used at the beginning of your thread with minimal tweaking, and from then on you have a month to work on your thread with an assigned partner (someone else participating in the challenge) on the site. Your thread does not have to be completed, but it must have at least ten posts to qualify for potentially winning this award. Both participants will receive a shared award.
If you are interested in signing up, please provide your name and your 100+ word starter to the admin account. The provided starter is 100% necessary to participate as it will be assigned to another participant. In a week on the 25th of May, we will announce which roleplayer will receive which starter and you will have until the 25th of June to get your thread up and running with ten posts.
Just a little reminder that if you'd like to participate in this awesome roleplaying challenge, 100+ word starters are due in three days. We'd love to have as many participants as possible!
ROADROO As [character] stumbled into the [location], [pronouns] swore beneath [pronouns] breath because Merlin's beard, [pronouns] face stung like somebody had just thrown a very competent stinging hex at it. But instead of using magic, the person in question had replaced their wand in favour of swinging their fist at [pronouns] face instead, before [pronouns] had the chance to even seen it coming.
Tenderly, [character] raised [pronouns] fingers to [pronouns] cheek before letting out a loud hiss. [Pronouns] could guess that if [pronouns] saw [pronouns] reflection in the mirror that [pronouns] face was decorated in freshly-forming, angry red bruises that in the next day or two would turn into an painful-looking, mottled purple. It definitely wouldn’t be a very pretty sight.
ROSE To say that the world was drowning would have been a colossal understatement. Gutters struggled to handle the downpour, a symphony of gurgles and choked gasps from metal slits filling the evening air. Rain fell down in sheets thicker than steel; Umbrellas teetered and barely stayed upright in the swarming monsoon, steady hands just managing to hold them straight. A clever few had deployed brief spells as their personal shields from the liquid bullets, sheets of water bouncing off of an invisible shield extended far above their head. An unfortunate bunch had huddled together, and made their way across the relative area with coats held side-by-side as a flock of penguins might have done in their arctic hellscape. It was a marvelous mess, a catastrophic turn of events for any and all who happened to be in the area when the clouds broke open overtop them. There may have been beauty in the rain for one observer, and horror in the mess for another. True to the age old saying, it was all in the eye of the beholder.
BREE Warm gusts of air were visible in front of [name's] face. [pronouns] fingers were frozen to the tips, red and a little numb. Winter seemed to inch closer everyday, turning the temperature colder and people's faces harsher. The turn of the seasons happened every year, but [name] seemed to be caught by surprise every year. [pronouns] had decided that homework should be done outside- but this decision had been made in the middle of the day. Now that the land had begun to cool, [pronouns] was ready to pack up and go back inside. The only thing that stopped [pronouns] was that there was a little more to be done. If [pronouns] could just get it over and done with, then going back inside and warming [pronoun]-selves up wouldn't be an issue.
@quail Four days and it wasn't like [insert name here] hadn't tried to help things along. It wasn't as if this problem was a topic anyone could find in the volumes of dusty books in the library. [insert name here] had checked. It wasn't really something you could ask your friends about either. But [insert name here] was at a loss and they had to do something. There was a heavy feeling in the gut, and dread was slowly growing and taking hold of [insert name here] like the treacherous tendrils of Devil's Snare. There was absolutely no doubting the fact that when this thing finally came out, it was going to be painful.
