With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Eva had been working hard all day and she couldn't wait for the day to be over. She wasn't like happy glasses who worked with her, she didn't enjoy the job as much as he did. The girl ran a hand over her face, was debating to splash some water in her face as well before noticing someone sitting at the bar.
Eva walked up to the familiar face and tried to manage a tired but present smile. "Good evening professor." she said and cocked her head to the side as she grabbed a glass and cleaned it before putting it on the bar.
"What can I get you? Something strong? Something subtle?" she didn't know why she even tried talking to the professor but he used to teach her and she appreciated what he did.
It was a Friday night, the second since school had started back, and Jack decided that after so many classes with students who enjoyed causing a ruckus, that a drink was in order. Just one or two, he liked to drink whiskey to relax but he didn't like to overindulge.
Sitting at the bar and summoning some of the bar nuts from across the other side non-verbally and wandlessly, Jack had just popped a couple into his mouth when a familiar voice greeted him. Professor, ah. One of his ex-students, he realised as he glanced up. Evangeline Grafton. She'd been a Slytherin, a year or two back. A bit troubled, but very intelligent.
"You're not in school now, Miss Grafton. How about this... I'll call you Evangeline or Eva, and you can call me Jack?" he suggested, giving her a kind smile. "Just plain ol' whiskey will do... so what have you been doing with yourself, Evangeline? Are you studying alongside working here, or is this your full-time job?" She'd been quite the good Quidditch player, he remembered that too. She could have definitely been scouted.

Eva felt like spotting professors outside of school, even when it has been a while was strange. It was like they were completely different people outside of the classrooms they taught the kids in. Her eyes were on the professor and her lips curled up in a smile. He was kind to her when she was in school, both her and Ava never had problems in his classes.
"Eva." she assured him, her full name was disgusting. "I appreciate that, Jack." she said and poured him a whiskey before handing him the glass with a cock of her head. The man was the last person she expected here at these hours but each to their own.
"Eva.." she reminded him again and nodded. "Yeah I work here now sadly.." she didn't think she would not make it into the professionals with her drinking problem. "I never had high ambitions so this is where I ended up." there was a chuckle, it wasn't that bad.
"Eva. I'll keep that it mind," Jack said with a kind smile, taking the whiskey and handing her a couple of sickles to pay for the drink. Raising it to his lips, he took a small sip before exhaling. It tasted good, always did.
"I don't think that working in a bar is so bad, Eva. It might not be glamorous work but so long as it keeps the money coming in and you can get by, then that's all that really matters, right?" Jack said in response to her saying she had no 'high ambitions' and so this was where she 'ended up.' "Besides, you're only young. You have years to decide what you really want to do in life."

Eva didn't mind teachers visiting, she didn't know them or cared much about them but people like Jack looked out for people like her when she was in school and she was grateful for it. Eva just wished she wasn't as much of a disappointment he probably didn't see coming. Then again did he know about Ava? Did he know about any of it?
Probably not. Eva ran a hand through her hair and let out a small sigh. She looked at the professor with a small smile.
"It's not bad but not the job i wanted to have." she admitted and smiled a bit. Sure she was kind of glad she didn't end up completely jobless but for a drunk this was the one place she wanted to be at.
"I suppose you're right." she added and cocked her head to the side a bit. "How's hogwarts? I am sure your job is way more exciting to talk about."

a falling star fell from your heart.
"It'll do for now, I assume, until you find something better," Jack told Eva warmly, sipping at the drink in front of him slowly. "How's your sister, Ava? Is she doing well?" He remembered her quite clearly, Eva's twin, as the two girls often spent time with one another in Hogwarts. He hadn't ran into her lately though, so he hoped she was okay.
Jack smiled as Eva asked how Hogwarts was, shrugging lightly. "It's Hogwarts. Besides those werewolf laws, nothing has changed really. Lots of rowdy students, but that's to be expected. It happens every year, as I'm sure you remember," he said, chuckling. "I just wish that the Ministry would open their eyes and realise what a terrible effect not having the option of formal learning may have on students who are werewolves a couple of nights in the month."

The subject of her sister was hard to avoid, especially from a former teacher. Ava was like the teacher's pride a joy back in the day, she was smarter than many, calm and collected and she would show everyone that there was always a better way of handling things. She would've made a great healer if she only got that chance to begin with.
"I lost her.." she said with pain in her voice. "She got murdered in our living room.." She hated the ministry and the police to never find who did this to her sister. "They never caught who did it.." she wiped her eyes real quick and held up the bottle.
"Another?" she sure could use one but she had to work. Eva cleared her throat and had to compose herself. "I remember, I was the one in detention almost daily." she chuckled, good old days.
"The ministry has been slacking on many things, I can't agree more. Ava wanted to be there for them, she even treated werewolf kids in school whenever they accidentally got hurt."

a falling star fell from your heart.
When Eva started talking once more, her voice strained and tears shining in her eyes, Jack wanted to go and give her a rub on the back. However, he was aware enough to recognise they were still in a public place and an intimate gesture such as that could be misconstrued. Instead, he settled for reaching out to place a gentle hand on her arm. "Oh, Eva... I'm terribly sorry to hear that," he said, a solemn expression on his face.
He wasn't sure what would quite motivate somebody to murder such a kind young woman. There had to be some sort of reasoning behind it, surely. "Have you tried contacting the ministry over it? You may have to push because I know their focus is elsewhere at the moment however there are some quite clever aurors in the ministry who would very much push to solve your sister's case."
'Another' had Jack putting his hand up, shaking his head. "That's enough, thank you. Can't have too many even on a weekend." He didn't like getting drunk as it was, feeling as though he wasn't truly in control of his own body. It wasn't a very pleasant feeling in his opinion. "Ava... she was a very good person. It's a shame that somebody felt entitled to take her life from her."

Ava wasn't just a good person, she was the best. She was Eva's better half and making sure Eva wouldn't lose herself. Now here she was doing exactly the opposite of what Ava wanted her to do and why did she do it? Because doing the right and good thing was hard. She eyed Jack's hand on her arm and she just nodded slowly.
"She was the best person.. I can't imagine anyone that would hurt her." she said softly and put the bottle down when he refused another drink, it was fine. Eva just hated that the subject of her sister was brought up but he couldn't help it, he didn't know.
"I tried, they blew me off. I hope this war ends soon because criminals just get away with everything right now."
When Ava eyed the hand on her arm, Jack withdrew it because perhaps she felt uncomfortable. It was hard to tell. "Unfortunately, life has the habit of throwing us curve balls when we least expect it," he told Eva. "It just so happened that one was very unfair."
Jack nodded as Eva shared that the Ministry blew her off. "I work with a former Auror. Perhaps I can send him your way, maybe he could provide some valuable insight on how to take this even higher? I'm sure he's got some very good contacts." Maybe therapy would be a good option as well, although he didn't broach that particular subject.

Eva knew Jack meant well. He always seemed to be the type of guy who means well even when she wasn't completely comfortable talking about her dead twin. It was just not the type of subject she liked to approach. The young woman eyed him and smiled a bit. "Tell me about it." she sure as hell didn't see this coming her way.
"I am so sorry, this conversation is such a downer." she said and chuckled slightly. "I heard you have a lot of new teachers these days." She wanted to change the subject so bad it hurt. Eva nodded slowly and frowned.
"Sure why not." it's not like it was gonna make her feel better.
"It's fine, Eva. You don't have to apology... nor do you have to keep everything in. It's healthy to talk about such subjects, even if they do make you emotional," Jack told Eva with a solid nod. "Yes, lots of new Professors... I think besides Professor McGonagall, I've been on the staff the longest however. Next up would probably be Professor Malfoy."
Draining the rest of his drink, Jack let out a small sigh as he took a glance at the clock. It was getting later in the night, and he had to be getting back to school soon. Yes, it was a weekend, but he still needed to be present at breakfast early tomorrow morning. "I don't happen to have a quill and parchment on me, but you can address the letter to Graham Avery. It will arrive at the school. I'll tell him to be expecting it," Jack said, before glancing around to make sure none of his belongings were left behind. "I'll talk to you some other time perhaps, Miss Grafton?" With a wave and a small smile, Jack was off and out the door, ready to start his trek back towards Hogwarts.
