With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
I'm just writing to check up on you and to tell you that I've gotten rid of that Godawful mustache for a few weeks already. I hope Hogwarts has been treating you well these past few months. How are your studies going?

Hi Papa!
Oh, thank Merlin. I was worried I was going to have to sneak a hair removal spell on you in the middle of the night. Who finally convinced you to get rid of it? Vera, Nadya?
Anyway, things have been going alright! We had a Halloween dance and I went with one of the Durmstrang boys. He's Romanian and he's tall enough that he didn't mind that I was wearing heels. He taught me some dances too, which was pretty fun. Transfiguration is still hard, but I suppose that's not really out of the ordinary. I got a few new stickers for my trunk too.
How are things at home? Has Vera got that job she applied for yet?
You're wrong on both accounts there. It was someone at work who convinced me, though I'm sure both your sisters are relieved it's gone. And maybe Daisy, too. She's been a bit more keen on playing with me since I shaved it off.
A Romanian boy, huh? Was it waltz or something else? I know a few dances myself, you know, so if you need more lessons, you can always ask your Papa. But it probably seems embarrassing to you to be taught by me, so you can have your fun as long as I don't have any Romanian grandchildren. At least not any time soon. Don't tell Nadya I said that.
Vera has an interview for it in a few days. I can tell she's a little nervous, but I'm sure she'll be alright. Otherwise everything is pretty calm, even work is a bit slow, but I can't say I'm bored.

Dear Papa,
It's good to know that at least I have something in common with someone in the Ministry. It would be different if we lived in Sherlock times. But you're not a doctor either, so maybe it still wouldn't make sense. Do you think Potter is like Lestrade? I feel that vibe.
Also I am not having a baby with Constantin. Or any babies, at all, for like a long time. This is so awkward to write.
I think I'll send Vera a nice letter too. I don't write her enough. I think I lost one of her letters which I feel bad about. I hope she gets the job, I think she'd like it a lot.
It is sad to know that my own daughter doesn't think I could pull off a stunning gentleman style mustache. Alas, I suppose I cannot have everything in life.
I can assure you that Mr. Potter is more intelligent than poor Detective Lestrade. Though there are a few others in places just as high as him that are about as misguided and unfocused as Lestrade. With that said, Mr. Potter is no Holmes either, but then again, who is? I think I'm more of a Watson, if anything. What about you? What do you think of this?
I'm sure Vera isn't too upset with you for losing a letter. It happens to the best of us. I am also very sure that she'd appreciate a good luck letter from you! And perhaps you should write to Nadya, too, if you haven't already.

Dear Papa,
I wish I was Holmes but I'm totally not. I bet if I had the power of deduction I could figure out a lot more things. And probably remember where I put Vera's letter, if I didn't accidentally throw it into the fire, which I hope I didn't do.
I will write Nadya too. Honestly it's really lonely here being the only one, it felt weird ever since I got on the train alone. I miss them a lot. Nadya came to the last Hogsmeade weekend but Vera said she couldn't, and if she gets the job she'll probably be even busier. I want to go home, except I don't want to, because I have some friends here who need me.
I understand feeling lonely -- it was awfully quiet in the apartment when all three of you were going to Hogwarts, and I don't doubt it'll be like that once more when you all move out to start your own families. Perhaps it is very sad, but that's what adult life is like -- you're mostly on your own, and everyone is busy.
Once the Christmas holidays roll around, we'll take a big family trip somewhere, the four of us. Hold onto that thought. And if you get really lonely, I suppose you've got Uncle Nikolai at Hogwarts. I promise you he's way cooler than your ol' Papa.
