With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
If it weren't for the speckling of grey that could be seen - if one cared to look close enough, of course - over the enormous tome anyone could be forgiven if they thought the figure at a study table was just another student. Academic robes were all extremely similar, after all, and the gentleman had adopted the Hogwarts robes as a show of good faith in the host school. Always the person to lead by good example, Darius felt that the more he showed that he'd accepted their time at Hogwarts, the easier it would be for Durmstrang students to do the same.
"I have my work cut out for me," Darius' deep baritone grumbled as he set the ancient tome down on the study desk with a tenderness he didn't even show his own children. The text was interesting and would definitely enhance the students knowledge of ancient run as it would require the students to become very proficient with reading runes if they hoped to get any sleep before their next class. For here, resting beneath his soft unicorn leather gloves hands, sat one of the original scriptures of Beedle the Bard. His prose was expertly recorded in the Saxon runes from his era and it was far more beautiful than the butchered English version that sat next to it.
"It is such a treasure to behold," Darius ran his gloves fingertips along the ancient dragon hide that bound the scripture as if it were the delicate form of a sensuous lover that he wished to excite.
After a lingering moment, Darius began to set his workspace up with a quill charmed to copy what had already been written. He didn't trust the greasy handed Hogwarts children enough yet to come to the source. How could he? They barely knew each other. What care did any of them have for the ancient with their mass produced texts and a class that even promoted the use of such modern muggle apparatuses as how do you say? A pen, if Darius recalled Doamna Savage correctly.

It had been a couple of weeks since the Durmstrang teaching staff had arrived at Hogwarts and Jack, for the most part, had just been letting them settle in. Of course, if they'd had any questions or they'd needed to approach him about issues with certain children or topics, he was happy to engage with them, but he'd been making a concerted effort not to be overbearing. They were fully-trained professors, after all, and from what he'd heard from Headmaster Dascălu, they were more than capable of doing their job. They didn't need him hovering around.
But since it had been a fortnight, he felt like maybe it was time for him to check in and who else was best to approach than the Ancient Runes professor? He'd noticed the man in the library not long ago, and after quickly ducking into his office to make two coffees (he'd noticed that was what Professor Dascălu drank at breakfast, typically), he returned with two mugs in hand and a small pleasant smile at the librarian. She knew him well enough by now to know that he was responsible enough not to spill hot beverages in her library.
Approaching the table, Jack's smile was warm as he placed the two coffees on the desk. "You look busy, Professor Dascălu," he observed. "I thought you might want a pick-me-up - hopefully it's to your liking - and a chat but if it suits you better, we can talk another time?"
