With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Occasionally she brings them to class to tell her older students about them.

history
Once, Katarzyna’s family were Polish aristocrats, and they have never forgotten this. When the magical world was still able to pull strings in Muggle politics, the Dąbrowskis were right there. The Statute of Secrecy, as well as the lost influence of the aristocratic class, means they no longer have such power, but they have always felt like they should. Katarzyna and her two younger siblings, Tomasz and Joanna, were brought up to believe the same. Simply because their house has fallen into a bit of disrepair over the years has never changed the family’s belief in their status.
Katarzyna was born as the eldest child of the Dąbrowskis in 1983. She was always a serious child, the kind of girl who watched the world with a somber expression that hid a deep sense of curiosity. But there was always curiosity. It never seemed like she would make trouble, with her quiet and reserved air, and yet her parents always seemed to find her in corners of the house which they assumed had been blocked off, engrossed in books beyond what a young child was supposed to read and investigating artifacts that were too dangerous for her to understand.
Of course, it was only the beginning of her interest in the Dark Arts, something that continued at school. Katarzyna loved Durmstrang--for the most part. She did not much love Quidditch, which she never mastered, and considered useless anyway, and she had little patience for some of her classmates. But within the castle, she was fascinated by the rich history she seemed to feel every time she brushed a hand against the stone walls. Powerful witches and wizards had been here, had walked in the same steps she had. She herself had little inclination for the flashy kind of power-grabbing that made it into the books they had to read for History of Magic, but the concept of what was possible with a well-placed curse was intriguing. It was more like being a scientist of the Dark Arts than anything.
Outstanding in the Dark Arts when she left school. If it had been someone more outwardly frightening than Katarzyna, the world might have been afraid. As it was, they left the young woman mainly to her own devices. The most questions she got were from her parents, and always about when she would marry. After a few years of being home from school, she felt like she could barely stand the big house that she had so enjoyed in her childhood. She packed up her things and left for a cabin in the mountains. It was a strange transition from the attempted luxury of home to the sparse living of her new little house, but it reminded her so much of Durmstrang. Time alone cleared her mind, made her consider what life was really about. And when she heard about the chance, she applied for the job of Dark Arts professor at Durmstrang. For five years now, she has taught students what she believes is the most powerful and most interesting branch of magic.
Her eyes traveled over to the fire, the way it danced in the fireplace, a piece of burned wood cracking and falling to the bottom with a shower of sparks. It wouldn't go out--the house-elves would never let it--but it dimmed, as part of its fuel was gone, and Lyuba felt as if she would have to hold Rodrik closer to continue to be quite so warm.
Not that his words were helping, as they felt like ice in her heart with every sentence he spoke. "That's not how it works," she said, more forceful than she had been before. "It can't be. The world can't lose both of you." She put a hand around his chin, trying to make him look up into her eyes. "If you were gone, everyone would be mourning just the same. You have to know that." On his shoulder, one of Lyuba's hands curled into a fist as her voice rose.
"And it's not like you can go back and change anything that's already happened. There was nothing you could've done." Merlin, she hoped that was true--she didn't want to put more guilt on him. "You can only change the future. So you've got to--you've got to go out and do things in his honor, you know? You've got to make the world better. For you and for people like him and for everyone."
