With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Alright - if anyone thought for a minute that Arthur was upset to be donning the proud red and gold of Gryffindor ... erll just between you and I, he'd spent half the day ugly crying uncontrollably when he'd received his NEWTs but no one else will ever know ok? then they would not have thought it by the big grin on the teenager's face as he stepped into the Great Hall. All of his younger buddies were here and let's face it, this way he can keep an eye on his little sister who... wait did she just? Arthur craned his neck to see where Gracie had glanced to but that movement just was cut short by the shortest imp in Seventh Grade.
"Aw Vindaloo, I'm happy to see you too," he said with a kissy-smooch-smooch face, bending dramatically towards her because she was so very tiny compared to him. Yes, it was his full intention to get so close to her wrinkled up little snobface that he'd use his tongue to lick the inside of her nostril because he'll show her how much of a troll he could be."Did you dream of me baby?" he asked, reaching out to put his hand on her hip if she wasn't quick enough. Yes. Kill them with kindness - "I dreamt of you," he whispered with a suggestive little wiggle of his brows.
Liam was S T A R V I N G. He'd gone the whole bleeding sorting ceremony without a thing in his belly and then allllll of a sudden Prof O'Connor went and added more kiddies to the mix. Oh, but weren't they a drab lot? In their poo-coloured uniforms and moving like a herd of wildebeest into the Great Hall. Liam watched them with wide, inquisitive eyes until the food arrived - then he was engaged in inhaling the food as if his life depended on its consumption. Without Leo at school, Liam would definitely be the food-eating champ without a shadow of a doubt.
It took less than three minutes to consume more than his fair share of the food. Liam was too excited to bother staying on his seat. "VIOLAAAA! ALEXXX!" unceremoniously made his way through the crowd to the Ravenclaw table and promptly wiped his hands down the length of his school robes because he had to scruffle their hair up the moment the pair were within reach. "Merlin Skye that badge of yours is super-duper shiny! 'ave ya been to the bathroom yet? I hear it has a swimmin' pool. Ya know, even though Leo was a prefect for forevs, he never let me in there... such a goodie goodie" Liam groaned dramatically as he very slowly wiggled himself into sitting with his buddies at the Ravie table. "Oh yeah HI BY THE WAY!" he grinned with his big pearly whites and put an arm up to flex his growing muscles, "bruv, look 'ere. Musclez for dayz. I swear I got 21 new ones o'er the summer!" It wasn't long before he noticed the other little blonde at the table. "Aye, Vi ya didn't tell me ya had a sista?" Liam said with an elbow nudge in the side to Vi.

[googlefont="Poppins"]
Loud noises and not even the good ones, Kaylie was seated at the very edge of the Slytherin table, away from as many people as she could possibly be away from while being forced to 'feast' with new strangers and people she'd rather avoid than be surrounded by. Dark circle were under Kaylie's bright blue eyes, covered by shades as she looked around the great hall. She was too sober to deal with this shit. If only she could turn this sad juice into something other than juice, something stronger to numb herself.
Kaylie didn't listen to anyone and the moment people moved to sit closer to her, she scooted away, almost falling off her own seat. "Keep your bloody distance." she growled at whoever thought it was smart to cozy up to her like she was a part of a hug society group. Touch and die was her motto rather than what they thought they could do to her. She was in the littlest mood to play and neither did she feel like touching the greasy food that was offered to her. Kaylie would've glared but those glares would go unnoticed by her shades.
Kaylie glanced over to the Ravenclaw table and sighed. At least her girlfriend probably had a better time. She felt something touch her arm and let out a growl. "What the fuck did I say about distance mate?"
For the last eight hours, Aggy had decidedly not been herself, vacantly staring out of the Hogwarts Express window as the train traveled through the country side and not uttering a single peep. She'd been too wrapped up in her own thoughts, and steadfastly ignoring every single person who asked her, 'what's wrong?' because she knew that if she opened her mouth, she'd be firing back at them, 'what's right?'
Because nothing was. Nothing had been right for months now, ever since she'd ran into him at her aunt's place and he'd cornered her in the kitchen to make smalltalk. Maybe he thought she hadn't realised that all those years ago it was him who'd done that to her, but he was wrong. How could she not know by now? How could she forget those insistent, grabby hands and the foul ogre breath that lingered over her face? How could she forget the face that haunted her every. single. night?
Aggy had barely listened to O'Connor's long, drawn out speech, but she had heard one thing loud and clear: she was expected to play nice with the Durmstrang students. The ones who hated her existence so very much that if she lived in Europe, they wouldn't permit her to have an education. For the first time since boarding the plain, Aggy broke her vow of silence to vehemently bite out in Evan's direction, "I would rather have a rusty bloody spoon shoved in my eyeball than play house with them. It's like we've gone back to the 1950s - O'Connor wants us to act like we're happy little housewives, welcoming their husbands home from a long day of work, when really we don't like them very much and want to get a divorce ASAP."

itty looked up with a bright smile as a girl came up behind her, sliding a little further along the bench to make sure that there was plenty of room. "Hi!" she greeted the blonde with her brightest smile, looking her up and down with curious eyes. There was nothing that the Lioness loved more than meeting new people, and when they came from a long way away then that was just even more exciting! She would bet that the girl knew all sorts of exciting stories and things that she'd never even heard of, and maybe she could even get her to describe Durmstrang, because there were few things that she hated more than knowing there were things she didn't know. Which really didn't make much sense at all, but Kitty's train of thought had never been logical yet and she didn't see any reason to break her winning streak now.
The fact was that she would love nothing more than to be able to travel the world... well, she'd love lots of things more than to travel the world, but not right at this moment... and since there was no prospect of that happening any time soon, she was just going to have to make the best of it and use her imagination, which would be so much easier if she could get all these new and exciting people to tell her lots of things about where they came from. Wherever it was. Durmstrang, obviously, but the blonde didn't think she knew where that was; if she ever had known, she'd forgotten, and it had probably been somewhere she'd never heard of anyway because that was how it usually went. What had she been thinking about?
Oh, yeah. New people. Flashing another even brighter smile at her new neighbour, she continued, "I'm Catherine, but everyone calls me Kitty. It's really awesome to meet you!"
ice to meet you, Greta," the redhead returned with a smile, before glancing around, wincing at the sound of a voice that was far too loud. Oh, dearMerlin above. So much enthusiasm, and it was far too late in the evening for that; had it been about midday, Skye might have been able to tolerate it, but she was just beginning to fall asleep with her eyes open and already contemplating the concept of showing a whole horde of new Ravenclaw students around. Now was really not the time for people to be shouting around the place; she was beginning to get a headache. Skye with a headache was not something that anyone wanted to encounter.
"Exactly as shiny as it was last year, Liam," she told him, glancing down at it reflexively. Well... Maybe she'd been polishing it a bit last night but she wasn't about to admit to that; it made her sound like a swot, which... well, she was, but that was all the more reason why she didn't want to look like one; it was just common sense. At least in Ravenclaw, she didn't have to put up with too much bother about it, but in the rest of the school, a Ravenclaw prefect was just about as bad as it got. Apart from being a professor, of course, but she was damn sure she didn't have the patience for that, and the next person who told her that she really should think about going into teaching was going to be in receipt of one of her worst hexes, straight to the chest.
For a moment, she was confused, and on the point of telling the Hufflepuff that he was asking quite a personal question, before his meaning clicked, and the redhead rolled her eyes. "No, I went through the whole of last year without bathing; what do you think?"

Elena was admittedly excited to be back at school. Sure, a lot he studying was never ideal, but she was a social butterfly who needed to spread her wings asap. She had sent letters to her closest friends, and even some gifts here and there of sweets and trinkets as a little something special during the time away. Not that she was helplessly pineing. Nah, she did enjoy some family time. Her parents went on a holiday with her brothers and her older half-sister and decided to sight see around North America. It'd been fun, but she was pretty happy to be back.
"Vi!" The tiny blonde squealed enthusiastically to her best friend as she inevitably ran up to her at the table and gave her the world's biggest hug. Of course, others were around but Elena didn't particularly care if she was too much. She had went long enough without her hugs. She waved at everyone else, " Mind if I join you guys?" She could be a bit much, but even she knew manners.
She chuckled as Liam approached, " I'll give you 20 gallons if you can prove it, " She retorted with a chuckle, walking over and giving him a big hug as well before finding a spot to sit. She looked about, deciding what she wanted to eat obviously. "What sounds good? Who's the food connoisseur?" She joked, trying to decide what she was in the mood for.

lancing back to Zoe, Fleur rolled her eyes expressively. It was a mannerism which her husband had always described as being very French, though Fleur was of the opinion that it could hardly be more or less French than anything else she did, considering her origins. "L'hôte et la pluie après trois jours ennuient," she murmured dryly. A constant guest is never welcome, as her grandmother had said, and already, it was shaping to be a long and stressful year. It was clear that the rumours had been true; you did have to have your sense of humour surgically removed before assuming a post at Durmstrang. Whether the same was true of the students remained to be seen, but when she had a queue of students lining up to complain that they couldn't make a joke without being scrutinised as to its origins, intentions, and underlying meaning, perhaps she would have her answer. Until then, curiosity would have to go unsatisfied.
"I see no reason why you should wish to give them the distress," she answered, as mildly as she could contrive, which was not particularly. "The past is in the past; let us allow it to remain there, oui? I should not have taken you as one to have been particularly influenced by Muggle conflicts, but no doubt it will be a great relief to us all to find that the supposed anti-Muggle sentiment at Durmstrang does not stretch so far as to prevent you from being so invested."
Post by ROSALIA CAPONE on Apr 26, 2020 11:20:58 GMT
Rosalia's break had been surprisingly and happily uneventful. After all the stress of the previous year, she was all too happy to hear her uncle tell her she could stay at his place over the summer. Her parents had, of course, initially objected, but decided in the long run it was best that she have some space. She knew that space wouldn't last forever, but at least long enough for her to move on from the gruesome things she'd seen. As a matter of fact, she was... Better. She wondered if it said something about her that she was feeling better after having witness a murder in cold blood over Christmas dinner, but chaose not to dive too deep in the question. She supposed some things we're just best left to worry about another day. For today, she was was going to worry about eating dinner and seeing some much missed faces.
Having missed her best friend, she figured she'd just sit at the Slytherin table until she actually spotted him. Despite everything her instincts dictated, it wouldn't kill her to sit with people she didn't normally sit with. She listened constantly at the headmaster's explaination before looking over at a few of the Durmstrange students, and throwing a charming smile there way as she checked them out. Nothing wrong with some new blood. She only wished she could've gossiped with Grey over who would take the most of them by the end of the term. She looked about the table, deciding to eat something after what had been a fairly long day. She filled her plate and began to enjoy the food.
Izzy didn't think she would end up here. From all the places she was forced to go, overseas was not one of them. Her mother used to tell her stories before she went to the mental hospital, stories about her ancestors and how they went to the new world for gold and fortune. The moment the girl stepped into this castle, her thoughts about the new world were completely ruined because if the new world looked like this.. fuck she wanted out and fast. With a frown she was told to take a seat somewhere and the students seemed so divided.
There was a color theme kind of thing going on and Izzy wasn't quite sure how to take this. The redhead sat with two girls who looked quite similar to one another. They would make great comic characters in a way. Like Thor and Loki had become comic characters in a way. It was strange to behold gods in comics but that is just the way of art she supposed and Izzy took a moment to look at all the food. Where was the beer? the wine? the good stuff?
The ale? "Excuse me, what is this?" she pointed at the juice, not that she wanted to ruin whatever sisterly moment these girls had but she refused to touch that stuff. "Is it an ale of sorts?" she asked probably coming off as quite stupid and just looked away. She didn't take any of the food and just sat there, observing and confused on what to do now.
When Ludwig had woken up on the morning of September 1st in his tiny flat in Trondheim, he would have never guessed that by the evening he'd be somewhere in Scotland, sat at the staff table of Hogwarts.
Ludwig wasn't a fan of change, though his rigorous practice of martial magic had taught him to suck it up and adapt to situations at a blink of an eye. But this? This was a little too much.
Why? Because Hogwarts brought back a lot of feelings that he'd thought he'd squashed down years ago.
A decade ago his parents were having loud arguments about where the eldest of the Kallenbach siblings should get his magical education - Durmstrang, the school his father had attended, and his father before that, or Hogwarts, his mother's school. She didn't want his son to do anything with dark magic, which was a well known specialty of the school; his father claimed that Hogwarts was meant for the weak as they were too afraid of the full potential of magic.
Ludwig never understood how those two went as far as having not one, but three children.
As apparent by Ludwig's wine red robes, his father had won that argument. His life for the next 7 years was characterized by stringent discipline both during the school year and out of it. Too stringent when his father was around, but he didn't like to dwell on that.
But Durmstrang had made Ludwig into the man he was today, and provided shelter when everything came crumbling down. When he was 16, his parents marriage blew up, and his father dragged him out of the house by his arm -- the two of them were leaving, whether Ludwig wanted it or not. He could still recall 13 year old Wolfgang screaming that his older brother was a 'traitor'.
The previous summer? His father had just...vanished. One day he didn't return to their shared flat after work. At first, he looked around for information, writing to the British Ministry of Magic, as his father was doing work for them. A few weeks passed before he recieved the letter.
His father was dead.
And Ludwig?
Ludwig was relieved. His father had been an awful person, and now he was free. That is, until what little savings he had would run out. Durmstrang had been his saving grace once more -- soon enough he was set up with a job as the Library Assistant.
And that's why today he was sitting at the staff table of Hogwarts, nibbling at the potatoes and gravy in front of him. The food wasn't bad, not at all, it reminded him of the meals he'd have back at home when everything had been fine. No, there were other things on his mind.
First of all, so this was Hogwarts. The place that could have been. Secondly, even though he was sitting at the end of the table, he could still tell that there was tension between the professors of both schools as they exchanged pleasantries and small talk. And lastly, though that most likely was the main reason food wasn't his prime concern, was Wolfgang.
There was a sea of students sat at the tables, all wearing clothing with different color trims that distinguished their houses. And one of them had to be Wolfgang, but Ludwig didn't have the slightest clue. Trying to spot him from his current position was impossible, too.
He wanted to find him. Maybe he knew more about what had happened to their father? And what had been going on at home all this time? They were well overdue for a family reunion, though little Wolfgang's voice in his head told him that he might not be very keen on it. After all, Father had forbade Ludwig any contact with home, so it was very likely that Wolfgang still thought him a traitor.
He sighed, sitting up straight in his seat, letting a hand through his wild curls, before grabbing his cutlery once more and glancing at the Hogwarts staff sitting near him.
"I'm Ludwig," he started, deciding to push down all the thoughts that were bothering for the evening, "The library assistant. Could any of you tell me how many students you've got?"
Post by ASTORIA MALFOY on Apr 26, 2020 12:30:07 GMT
Astoria was interested to see the state of things when she'd been told that Durmstrang students would be joining Slytherin house amongst the others. To be frank, she thought it'd do Hogwarts some good to throw a wrench in the norm. She saw many students simply skating by over the years, and hope a bit of friendly competition would push some of them to do more. That is, if all the students could handle keeping it friendly... Which she honestly doubted-- not just on the Hogwarts students but the Durmstrang as well. Competition either brought out the best or the worst, so she supposed she'd have to observe and wait. She smiled at her own son Scorpius, before listening in on the conversation as she took a drink of her goblet.
The heat amongst the adults was honestly more interesting than even the change in students and faculty at the moment as she listened to the debate. She had no stake in the matter given she neither disliked or liked the changes. She simply accepted them for what they were and figured they'd take whatever issues would likely arise as they came. She smiled as the new librarian approached, offering a nod, " Hello, " She greeted politely, " It's a pleasure, " She may have been more formal than most of her colleagues, but it was simply a force of habit. Growing up within a strict household she was force to upkeep appearances in public, and she supposed the habit stuck more than ever she cared for at times. "I'll get you the exact counts after dinner. With the increase in students my numbers have shifted some, " She replied as she her quill took notes for her at her side.
"I'm Astoria Malfoy, by the way, " She offered a hand to shake, " How are you settling in?" she asked curiously, remembering how it was her first day. While she'd attended Hogwarts in her youth, it was certainly a different feeling coming onto the faculty. For so long, you see the professors, and nearly all of them appeared to her as masters in their own right. Knowing that perception she'd had in her youth had actually made it a bit unnerving. She could only hope she'd live to the standard. However, since starting she knew she was fit for the position and despite her reservations rather enjoyed the uncertainty and the challenge of it all.

just go away
I can already hear your tune
Calling me across the room
When the world and his wife are on my back again
Not enough pleasure, too much pain
For the 7th time in a row, Wolfgang Kallenbach had gotten onto the Hogwarts Express on the morning of the first day of September. But this time was different in a variety of small ways.
Instead of leaving alone from his family house to get on the Knight Bus without so much as saying goodbye to his brother and his mother, he'd left together with not one, but three redheads, one of which held his hand the entire way, another who couldn't help but to look at him like he was an annoying stain that couldn't be washed out -- and the feeling was mutual. And the third one? Wolfgang didn't think the third one cared for his presence at all, and that was fine with him.
He'd spent a downright insane summer with the Linwoods. He'd almost lost Isobel because of his own wicked deeds -- and then, at least as he had felt at the time, though he had been reassured it hadn't been nearly as bad, almost died after picking a fist fight with a werewolf in the forests of Hogsmeade. But all of that was behind him, right? He could start a new chapter in his life, not haunted by secrets darker than the depths of the Forbidden Forest. Right?
Nothing had seemed out of order in the train either. He'd spent the entire ride exchanging gossip with his social group, with Isobel's hand warm on his thigh, reminding him that she was right there and everything was alright.
As they'd split up to go sit at their respective dinner tables, Wolfgang had pressed a quick kiss on his girlfriend's freckled cheek, wishing her a good night. He'd listen to the snotty first years being sorted, feast and then go to his dorm room, and it would be just another year.
He was naive to think so.
As O'Connor spoke, the door of the Great Hall opened and a sea of maroon came flooding in, and the professors words echoed through the hall.
Durmstrang.
And in the front rows of the crowd, Wolfgang saw him.
Ludwig.
His heart, calm just a mere moment ago, was about to leap out of his mouth. His throat was tight and the thought of eating made him sick to his stomach. He couldn't breathe. He couldn't.
His fingers, stiff and refusing to work, cramped around a glass of orange juice as he tried to focus on something, anything but the fact that Ludwig was right bloody there.

Finally a new year had started. Meaning the worst was over. Almir wasn’t built for warm temperatures. The fact that he had to wear actual clothes during the start if the feast was pure torture. Not only for him but also for his poor colleagues sitting next to him. It was a good thing he bathed thoroughly before coming here. At least the sweat fountain smelled like lavender and lily. The heat wasn’t even Almir’s biggest enemy. During summer everyone went home while he stayed at the grounds. With his enormous height and other remarkable features he couldn’t just wander into muggle cities, so he was restrained to the wizarding world and the woods. Drinking in the Hogsmaede pubs was fun and all but he really missed his coworkers.
“That’s my old school!” The gigantic man squealed like a happy toddler. His dad used to work at the school for a couple of years. The notice that the school he went to faced trouble with magical creatures made him sad as he held both a great love for his school and magical creatures. But he was glad Hogwarts could be a safe place for them.
When he got up to greet all his colleagues, he knocked over half the table. The clumsiness was brushed off with a goofy grin and a scratch in his neck. “I’m so happy to see you all back! Bless the gods may this be a good year. I’ve brewed my own mead during the summer please drink up!” The bouldering voice of the part giant echoed over the teacher’s table as he put down a barrel for his coworkers. A big happy grin was on his face as he started pouring everyone a pint of the honey wine.
After Jack was done with the speech, Almir went over to give the man a tight hug. “Jack! My man, what a speech. You’ve earned it,” he beamed as he handed the older man one of the pints. Then he handed one to Fleur and chuckled. “Oi, oi. These are my lovely country mates. If the students of Hogwarts can accept me, I’m sure they’ll be welcoming their new classmates.” After hugging her too, Almir went to the next staff member. It seemed they wouldn’t only be hosting students from Durmstrang but also teachers. Honestly it felt strange to have so many people from north and east Europe suddenly surrounding them. “Welcome welcome!” The Swedish teacher didn’t hesitate and hugged the newcomers like they’ve always been here. “Have a drink! Let’s all toast! Pleasure to meet all of you.”
And he went to the next colleague he could spot. “Zoe! I’m so glad I can hug you again. Oh how I’ve missed your lovely presence. Care for a dance later tonight?” With a wink, he pressed a pint in her hand and pressed on. Alicia seemed rather busy so Almir just went for a quick hug with her.
Next he found himself standing to Darius. “Never thought of it before, but my old headmaster has the same family name as you. What a coincidence right,” he laughed and patted the man on the shoulder, wondering if the old man was here too. Thus proving once more that despite being a teacher, Almir wasn’t the brightest mind in the room. “Drink?” He held up another pint towards the man.
Note: I didn’t want Al to interrupt any conversations so he just popss in and leaves. Free to interact with.He hugged ALL staffmembers even those who aren’t tagged. I’m not sorry.

alking into the Hall as the doors open, Viv was careful to keep her expression neutral as she looked around the place. It was nice enough, she had to admit; not quite what she was used to, of course, but it would do for the time being and it wasn't as though she had much choice in the matter anyway. The ceiling was rather fascinating, but she managed to drag her eyes away from it enough to focus on where she was going and what she was doing, her gaze gravitating to the students in green, amongst whom she had been told that she was to spend her time in Britain. They looked all right, she supposed, but it was always difficult to tell, and in a few weeks, she might have completely changed her option. Not that that would make any difference, of course; she would be stuck with them regardless, and perhaps it was for this reason that there was some trepidation in her eyes as she made her way across to their table and slipped into the first available space, putting up a hand to brush a lock of hair back into place, from behind which she spent a moment in surveying the group which she appeared to have joined.
She regarded the food which appeared on the table in front of her with some interest and not a little curiosity; some of it was reasonably familiar, and some of it didn't look even vaguely recognisable, but she wasn't opposed to trying it, and she was just reaching out for a plate of... something... when she caught a girl further down the table smiling in her direction. Caught off guard, Vivica was smiling back before she realised what was happening. Oh, Merlin...
