With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Graham arrived to the castle just some hours before the students would. He had only a little time to set up his classroom and office before the opening feast would start. Good thing there would be no classes today because he didn’t have time yet to prepare one. Yesterday he was finishing his last day as head auror before passing the title to the famous Harry Potter. He was sure the man would do a great job. Potter had ended a war before, Graham hoped he could do the same thing this time.
The former Ravenclaw hadn’t been inside the castle since he graduated. Returning had a strange feeling to it. This way he could be closer to his dear children, so it was the best option. With his suitcase levitated, the blonde male accessed towards the moving stairs. This place was less off a maze last time he was here. Holding the map, his eyebrows arched in a frown. He couldn’t be far from his destination. Wandering the stairs, he noticed another figure walking down. Thank Merlin! Graham approached the figure. “Excuse me, sir. Could you perhaps tell me how to-” His blue eyes widened when he was looking at a familiar face. An old colleague and friend whom he sadly didn’t see as often as he had wanted to. While knowing the man worked at Hogwarts, he hadn’t expected to walk into him on the stairs. What was he supposed to say now? Oh no, he had been quiet for a few seconds now. Quick say something. “Sebastian.” Yes… This was the best he could come up with in a panicked state. Small talk wasn’t his strongest point.
Shifting back into his professional mode, he extended his hand. “It is good to see you again, my friend. You look well. The teaching life must be agreeing with you.”
Sebastian patted down his pockets, checking for any loose papers or notes in his pockets. He was heading down to grab a bite to eat and coffee to drink but was unsure of himself. Not everyone had arrived yet, but Seb had wanted to get set up before the kids got there. Maybe he'd been a little eager but there was no real downside to it...except maybe a little awkwardness. He was hoping that Jack and Christian would be here soon if they weren't already. He then nodded to himself and exited his study. It was close to the Transfiguration classroom so he didn’t have a long way to walk to the great hall where he hoped to find another source of life.
It was finally starting to get a look cooler, now that it was Autumn. He wasn't in anything warm yet, he enjoyed being that little bit too cool. He'd eventually succumb to warmer clothes that evening, he was almost sure of it. The nervous anticipation to see his coworkers and the students was warm enough for him. He was also looking forward to meeting the new History of Magic teacher, hoping that they would be a lot less boring. Seb couldn't keep his hopes up, Hogwarts wasn't exactly known for hiring the most As he trod down the stairs, he paused when he heard someone call out to him. He turned a little to face the man, his eyes widening in surprise as he recognised his former boss. "Graham!" He echoed right after the other man said his name.
There was a brief moment of silence that hung over them as Seb tried to process what he was seeing. "Is everything okay with the school?" He asked, a warble of concern in his voice just before Graham began to speak. He then shook his head and gave a small smile, taking another step down. Graham wasn't in his auror uniform, he couldn't be on official business. "It's good to see you too! The kids are a handful but nothing compared to dark wizards." He shook Graham's hand, tempted to pull him into a side hug but decided against it to avoid crossing boundaries. "Are you here for someone specifically?" He wasn't trying to be rude when he asked, but he was very curious as to his reason for being in the school so early in the year. "Are your kids alright?"
It seemed closing one door didn’t only open a new one but also gave glimpses of past doors that had been closed. A rare smile bloomed on the new Professor’s face as his old friend recognized him. As he had guessed, the headmaster hadn’t informed the other staff yet. It seemed that the honour was left to himself. Sebastian seemed to think he was here for inspection. “The school is safe and sound, do not worry my friend,” he reassured the slightly younger man.
“I’m glad to know these students haven’t got the best of you yet. Are you still happy with your change of career?” Perhaps they should leave the catching up for when they were in his office. It’ll be much more of a delight with a cup of tea. “Not really, however I think I might pay a visit to the headmaster later today. For could you please help me find my office. It is supposed to be on the first floor somewhere,” he finally dropped the hint. While he did his blue eyes shimmered, curious to Sebastian’s response.
When asked about his children, Graham tried to smile. “They’re doing well regarding the situation. Greyson is still a troublemaker, Gabriel is still a confident growing boy and Gemini still shines as bright. All three of them are stronger than they’re given credit for,” he said. Catherine’s funeral had only been two months ago. Everyone was picking up the pieces. Perhaps they were better at it than himself. As he tried to avenge her which only lead or more trouble. His face turned towards the ground and Graham took a deep breath. “I thank you for paying your respect by coming to her funeral. That meant a lot to me,” he mumbled as his long locks covered his darkened eyes.
