With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

"Teresa--" How was one supposed to respond to that? Damian didn't want to piss off the woman even more, but that was a completely ridiculous suggestion. If Vaughn was a werewolf, he wouldn't be sending letters from France, he wouldn't be suggesting birthday presents, letting Damian talk about trips to come see him... "That--it can't be true. He sends things all the time. He sent me a picture just a few months ago, look." Reaching for his wallet once more, thankfully still in his pocket this time, he flipped through the pieces of paper inside. Picture of Greece, ice cream parlor loyalty card, picture of him and his brothers at the winter break, when they'd celebrated Rodrik's birthday...
"Aha! Here it is," Damian said, holding out the photo. It was small, but unmistakably an image of Vaughn Belanger, standing on a beach with the wind whipping through his hair, looking for all the world like a Damian or Rodrik who didn't smile quite so much. "This was from winter, so that's why he's got the coat and scarf and all, but that's my brother. Well, it's the one we're talking about." He took another drink of his firewhiskey, waiting for Teresa to confirm that she didn't, in fact, have Vaughn living with a werewolf pack.

Never, in Teresa's life, had she heard someone sound so doubtful when saying her name, but Damian managed to do just that. "Damian," she said shrewdly, before her hazelnut coloured eyes narrowed dangerously. "I'm not bullshitting you. I wouldn't do that - why would I? What possible motives would I have for doing that? I wouldn't get anything out of that." But then she had a photo handed to her and she took it, eyes critically scanning the image in front of her.
It was undeniably the guy who lived at her camp, only a few tents away. It was Vaughn with his scruffy beard and piercing dark eyes, hair curling around his ears just like it did every morning by the fire. "I'm tell you, that's the guy that lives with me. I -" How could she convince him that was the truth? "We don't talk much about ourselves, but I know his favourite food in the world is sandwiches with tomato in them, and he thinks that the Canons are a shit team." Okay, granted, it wasn't the most in-depth information to know a person, but hopefully it was enough.
Her next step would be to drag Vaughn with her to some meeting place so Damian could see him with her in the flesh... because there was no way in hell he'd be allowed to come into the Trossachs camp. Verandi would likely tear out his jugular with her nails because he was a human, and the only other humans who lived with them were the St. Mungos kids because they'd done an act to at least try and avenge werewolves.

Damian watched Teresa's face carefully, trying to discover what she was thinking as she peered at the photo of his brother. His older brother, the one he'd always looked up to, the one he'd always been trying to beat at everything even as he was several years younger. How could it be true that the brother he'd grown up with had been lying to him, to all of them, all this time? He was always even more ambitious than Damian himself...
But, he realized, they were brothers, they were alike, and if the same thing had happened to him, he'd certainly be lying to his parents about it. They had so much on their plate all the time: Mum worked so much because Dad couldn't, and he was still living at home, and Rodrik and Hugo always needed new school stuff, and they didn't need to struggle more. It was hard enough telling people who still remembered his stellar O.W.L. scores that things had only gone downhill from there--Vaughn was prouder still, and his problems would be far worse, if it was all true.
"How?" Damian asked simply, his usual chattiness lost as he tried to think through the situation. "He's in France. Or he was in France. You're sure? Really sure? Because everyone thinks the Cannons are a shit team." Even as he tried to deny it, he knew Teresa was right: what sort of motivation would she have to claim Vaughn was with her, if he wasn't? Sure, she could be trying to lure him somewhere, with the promise of seeing his brother for the first time in years--but that thought was just because he'd read too many detective novels. No, Teresa was just Teresa, his old classmate, a friend of sorts once upon a time.

"How what?" Teresa asked incredulously, her brows raising. It was pretty self-explanatory - Vaughn got bit, was looking for help, found the Trossachs. Teresa didn't know exactly how he got recruited, but he did and even if she did know... she wasn't about to launch into details with a non-Trossach. "I don't give a shit about the Cannons." That little girl in their pack liked them though apparently. "But I'm sure. 100%. If you had Veritaserum right now, then I'd take it." Given that Damian didn't taken advantage and ask her other questions.
Taking a sip of her drink, Teresa melted back into her chair. This whole ordeal had brought the mood down a bit - although, was it really that great to begin with? No. "So... you miss me since I left Hogwarts? Anyone else rival you for top spot?" she asked, making idle chatter.

"I mean, how he got--well--okay, I guess you don't know." Maybe it was too much to ask for Teresa to know the whole story. She did say she lived with him--but then again, Vaughn had never been the most open of people, too proud for that. It was the three younger brothers who were that way, never Vaughn. Damian couldn't imagine that his brother had swapped personality entirely, no matter what had happened to him.
He bit his lip, staring down at the table for a moment. "He sends me letters, but he still says he's in France." How long was he going to try to keep up the lie? Until Damian tried to chase him down all the way throughout Europe just for a chance to see the big brother he admired for the first time in years? "Do you think you could tell him that I heard? So that maybe I could--" He wasn't sure exactly what, but he did want to see Vaughn. "I can write him, again, maybe, too."
Taking more of a gulp than a sip of his drink, he sat back, trying to look as if the conversation hadn't shaken him to his core. "Nah, who could beat me?" Some people definitely had, but thinking about that would just make him want to order another drink.

It was true. Teresa didn't have a clue how Vaughn had gotten bit and she'd never asked either because it was personal... and that wasn't the sort of relationship she shared with Vaughn. "The story of how we were bit doesn't exactly make for a happy chat over dinner," she said with a shrug. Unless Vaughn had asked around or figured out her name was associated with that event at Hogwarts, then she assumed the older man didn't know how she'd been turned either.
Teresa gave a short nod at Damian's request. "I'll tell him. I don't know how he'll react to me telling you about him being a wolf though." She had a feeling this was all going to blow up in her face, but oh well. She was a grown woman and she was tough. Always had been, always would be. She could handle someone losing their shit at her and if he decided to draw his wand on her, she knew enough magic to disarm him... or she could always aim a swift kick to his goods.
Her eyes went rolling as Damian declared that nobody could beat him in class. She could have, but she didn't voice that out loud. "Right. Well, maybe the others were too focused on having fun instead of burying their heads in a book. I bet things got pretty wild after fifth year," she said. If she'd remained at school... if things had been different... she probably would have been the type who favoured studying over fun, just out of her sheer determination to succeed - and also because her fellow students? They wouldn't have exactly invited her to come have fun with them anyway.
