With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

van Karev has a habit of writing down his thoughts and worries in letters to his only love, his wife Alisa, a veela who vanished into thin air mere weeks after their third daughter's birth. Over the years he's collected several notebooks filled with these letters, which serve both as a place to vent and as a diary.

lisa, it has been two weeks since you've been gone. I've finally managed to get all of the girls to sleep, even though I'm sure Lyuba will be crying for you the very moment I shut my eyes for more than a minute. The girls are distraught, and I don't know for how much longer will I be able to convince them that you're just traveling. Please, I don't know what I've done, but whatever it is, I can fix it. Just, please come back. The girls need their mother. Especially Lyuba, she's barely a month old and nothing can replace a child's mother! I'm trying my best, but I fear it is not enough. I couldn't live with myself if something happened to her because of my oversight.
I hope you are safe and will return as soon as you can.

lisa, there was no Christmas to speak of this year. Vera and Nadya kept asking me about you, and I cried when I told them that I didn't know. I told them I didn't think you were coming back. They were heart-broken.
I'm heart-broken. I don't feel like myself. I drop plates and I can't focus, I almost burned Lyuba's milk, and I don't sleep at night, thinking about what happened to you. With every day the thought that this is somehow my fault just settles in deeper and deeper. Wasn't I a fool to think that I could ground a veela?

lisa, it has been several months since you left us. Vera is angry, and rightfully so. Today she threw one of the pictures of you two in the fireplace, before I could stop her. She's barely three years old, Alisa, and yet, her fury... I guess it comes with the veela temper, doesn't it?
All of this hurts like hell, and seeing our child acting well beyond her age in a way... It what hurts the most. They were supposed to have a bright childhood, with a family, and you've left it all in the dust now, for me to pick it all up? Why?

lisa, today I was out grocery shopping at the closest muggle store and the radio there started playing an old English song. It's called "Living Next Door To Alice".
I started sobbing in the bread aisle.
(The next several paragraphs have been thoroughly crossed over and aren't readable).
Don't think I'll ever get used to not living together with you.

lisa,
We've been living in London for a while now. I still can't believe those dolts at the Ministry forced me out of a job just because I 'had relations' with a 'creature'. You're no less a human as I am! What upsets me the most in this situation is that the girls can't grow up in Russia like we always wanted them. They can't visit their grandparents because no matter where they go, they'll be harassed for being non-human. It isn't fair.
Vera didn't want to leave. We were both crying as we said goodbye to my parents. They promised to write to each other often, and I hope I'll manage to visit, at least for Christmas. But all traveling goes through the Ministry, so it's not like I can just apparate into my parent's apartment -- if anyone at the Ministry would hear about it, we'd have more headache than I can handle.
At least I managed to secure a position at the British Ministry. The Department of Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. I should feel right at home, though I need to brush up on my English.
