With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
As one the three aurors were running towards the disapparition points, fastening cloaks around their shoulders, wands out. They had gotten word of a wandfight in Hogsmeade. According to the message, a werewolf had taken a hostage. What they wanted, Maximus had not a single clue, but he would be damned if he let them hurt an innocent, whoever it was.
His blood was pumping with adrenaline when they arrived on the main street of the village. A woman passed them screaming and many more fled the scene with quick strides, trying, but failing, to look in conspicuous. The three ministry officials picked up the pace and soon they reached the civilian’s house they had been directed to. All windows facing the street were closed, curtains drawn, all inhabitants seemingly gone apart from one person crouching huddled against wall of the neighbouring house, sobbing. An elderly woman stood by patting the person’s back soothingly but with a worried look. When she saw the aurors approaching, she hurried towards them.
“What happened here?” Maximus’ colleague asked urgently. Max was already scanning the surroundings, looking for a way in.
(You’re welcome to put your character in the spot of the shocked witness, add more witnesses, the hostage or criminal, whatever you can think of. I tried leaving the setting as open as possible.)
fter enjoying a massive coffee and a quiche at The Three Broomsticks, Jack had decided to go for a walk, hands shoved deep in his pockets. He needed to walk off some of the excess energy he had been given thanks to his beverage... when suddenly, he found himself in front of somebody's house, flashes of light sparking in the windows and screams reaching outside. Shit.
Immediately, he took action, racing up the steps to pound loudly on the door. He couldn't just stand there, after all, but knocking seemed to be a bad thing to do because suddenly an older teenager, who appeared to be an ex-student of his, was thrust outside and the flashes of light stopped. What the hell?
After quickly talking to the teenager - Daisy, who had graduated last year - Jack waved over an elderly woman who had come to a standstill on the sidewalk, staring at the house. "You there! Can you see if Daisy is alright? I've gotta alert the Ministry." With the woman's nod, Jack worked quickly to send a message to the Ministry.
When the Aurors arrived on the scene not long after, Jack surpassed the elderly woman who approached them. Resting a gentle hand on his arm, he nodded towards Daisy. "I think she still needs your help... maybe a warming spell might help. She seems like she could be in shock," he suggested, before addressing the Aurors. "According to Daisy, the girl, a few of The Trossachs burst into their house and attacked her, her father and her father's boyfriend. They'd tried to fight back, but there were too many pack members, and so her father's boyfriend was bitten. When I knocked on the door, apparently the pack members apparated away with the boyfriend and the father."

Maximus was only half listening to the report of the man coming towards them. He was already moving towards the house, securing the area, trying to find out what was happening inside the house. Werewolves, yet again. While James was asking more details from the man, Max nodded towards the third auror and moved towards the building.
“Humenum Revelio,” he muttered and was suprised to find that there was still someone in the house, unlike what the man had said. He jerked his head towards the back of the building for his colleague indicating the front door for himself to take. He had just moved in front of the door, all nerves tense, preparing for an attack, when he heard James call “Wait!” but he had already opened the door with a hard kick of his boot.
Quickly he entered the hallway and looked around. It looked deserted. Carefully he rounded the corner into what appeared to be the living room. Hell had broken lose here. The table was upturned, upholstery foam was strewn all over the floor, but the most grizzly sight was the pool of blood in the middle of the room, splashes all over the walls. And there in the middle lay a man cradling the stump of his arm, his skin stark white, eyes wide, mouth open in a silent scream. “Expelliarmus,” Max called immediately, but no wand came flying towards him. “Thomas!” he then shouted. “There’s one here!” Quickly he conjured up a patronus (it’s a bobcat) and sent it to St. Mungo’s, calling in a healer immediately. It seems like whoever had invaded the house had apparated, but someone had been splinched in the process! Quickly Maximus hurried over and crouched next to the body, supporting the head. He had been in the business long enough not to be shocked by violence anymore, but he would never get used to it. “I’m coming in!” he heard from James.
Aurelie was at St Mungo's when suddenly a bobcat Patronous appeared before her with a message that there was a siutation in Hogsmeade which required a healer. She dropped everything and left the building. Her work in the Dai Lllewlyn ward was important but she needed to check out the scene at Hogsmeade. It seemed important or else they wouldn't have called for a healer.
Finding a safe spot to apparate from the woman disappeared and reappeared close to the scene in Hogsmeade. When she arrived Aurelie saw aurors all over the place and wondered what on earth could've happened here. An auror keeping watch outside spotted Aurelie and recognized the color of her robes as that of St Mungo's. He nodded towards the building as if telling her to proceed.
"Thank you." she told the auror before making her way to the building. Aurelie walked into the house and stopped short when she noticed the blood everywhere. The sight almost made Aurelie sick to her stomach. She wasn't neccesarily a squeamish person. In her line of work she saw blood quite a lot especially if it was from a werewolf bite. Aurelie spotted another wizard in the room (from his robes she figured he must be a Ministry employee) supporting the head of the person who had been injured. Once she had recovered somewhat from the shock Aurelie eventually found her voice. "Hello. I'm Aurelie Beaumont. I recieved your patronus at St. Mungo's. What happened here?"
(Hope this was ok. Thought it was a good idea to bring a Healer in.)
Maximus turned to face the door when he heard another person enter the building. His partner was in position to make sure the newcomer was not harmful, but quickly they saw that it was a healer from Mungo's. About time, too. As far as Maximus could tell, the person he was supporting had lost consciousness. Losing a hand was no paper cut. "Maximus," he replied in curt greeting to the person who had seen his patronus. "They splinched themselves. Lost a hand in the process. But I don't know where they went," he explained quickly to the healer. He had done his best to keep criminal or victim, whoever it was, with them by restricting the blood flow to the injured arm, but would be grateful to pass on the responsibility to someone else and move to an area of expertise himself.
