PERSONALITY

Positive Traits: Max is a stoic person. He keeps calm in stressful and challenging situations, which allows him to keep thinking logically and strategically. He is patient and firm in his beliefs of right and wrong

Negative Traits: He is distant and closes himself off from others. His private affairs are his alone as are his feelings. It takes a long time for him to trust a person and lower his guard. Due to his very closed off personality, it can be difficult for him to work in a team as he is a hands-on kind of person and rather acts first, communicates later (or better never).

Quirks and Habits: It is very much of a bad habit that Maximus will drink whenever he has the chance to do so.

He always wears dark clothes in every season for every occasion

When he is frustrated, he pushes his hand through his curls rather forcefully at times and pulls on them

Maximus will immediately close himself off if he has the feeling that someone demands something of him in a social setting (something like expecting him to say the same sentiment if one says 'i love you' or something of the likes. He hates the obligations connected to it and feels easily imprisoned by relationships of any kind.


Likes:  his cat, Tiger, Whiskey, if he can get his hands on a good one, a job well done

Dislikes: people, displays of emotions

Boggart: The destroyed house of his parents, a ministry file at his feet, indicating certainty about the cause of their deaths

HISTORY

Maximus was born to an elderly couple who had done countless attempts at conceiving a child, with many miscarriages to show for their efforts. At long last, Maximus was born and in his early years he was raised with an abundance of love and care. However, his father was a rigorous man, who wanted his only offspring, his only son, to do well and be successful. He was drilled to study hard where in his childhood days his natural curiosity had been enough, had been expected to deliver results instead of leaving him to his own musings about philosophy and the world order. All this came to an end when he was but 13 years old. It was when he was home from Hogwarts during the summer holidays. He had gone to town by himself but when he had returned, the house of his parents had been in shambles, his parents both dead. The culprit had never been caught, he never knew who was responsible for their deaths. Thereafter he stayed at Hogwarts whenever he could, various family members taking him in over the summer, none of which he felt particularly attached to, until he turned 17. His parents’ vault provided for him for the time being and once he was finally done with school, he felt like all he wanted, all he needed was finally getting away from this all too familiar place.


He went on travels through France and Spain, taking on the odd job here and there, mostly doing low level tasks in both magic and muggle world. They were mostly tasks which had him out on the street in some way or other. He would not be able to pinpoint the moment exactly when it happened, but with his mind mostly unoccupied while working, he took to watching people in busy streets and what he saw were the odd ones. Not just odd, but bad. It got so far that he started detecting pickpockets, then chasing after them. Pickpockets became thieves, thieves became actual criminals, until his job was indeed to fight crime. And there was enough of that in Paris. It was gratifying work for the young adult, exciting and full of adrenaline. But this lasted only for so long, until Maximus got the feeling that he was stuck in his fight for what is right. Fighting like Robin Hood was just not enough. So eventually, at the age of 22 he joined the French ministry of magic and trained to become something equalling the British hitwizards. The work was basically still the same, but he was now getting trained to be better at it and his actions had legal consequences for the wrongdoers. He enjoyed his work, despite that he had to follow orders and more often than not work in a team. His thirst for knowledge helping his cause was being quenched.


Such it was for the next couple of years until France started to feel like a prison to him. Unrest was growing among the people, as was mistrust. Therefore, as he was not attached to France aside from his job, he decided to return to his home country, where he joined a shortened training to become an auror when he was 26.


Now, at 32 he lives alone in a small flat in London with only a cat as his companion, hunting bad wizards and beasts and drinking until he drops.

Maximus pulled his cloak tightly around him before walking to the exit of the ministry with long strides. It was about time that the day was over. If there was anything he hated more than people popping their heads into his office asking pointless questions about ‘how is it going’ or some other stupid thing Max did not even listen to, and that was when he had to do paperwork. Therefore he could simply not wait he could finally leave the office. It was not as if he had anything to do once he got home though. If he was lucky, he might find his cat at home, but more often than not, even that was not the case as the cat liked to parade around the neighbourhood.

Not wanting to go straight home, he apparated to Diagon Alley instead where he went straight for the Leaky Cauldron. He had no patience left for dealing with muggle establishments at this point, but deposited himself on a stool at the bar, where he greeted the landlady, Mrs Longbottom with a short wave of his head, motioning at the same time for his usual ‘starter’ of what might very well become a long night of more than a few drinks.

He had barely emptied his first glass when someone spoke next to him. ‘Mind if I sit here?’ A deep scowl fixed on his brooding face, he turned to look at the intruder. ‘As a matter of fact, I do mind.”
