With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Rafael had been glad that the students had returned back from break and that meant they'd be getting back into class right away. The man had been fond of his younger students, because he thought they were filled with promise and it was good to see if there parents had taught them much in their younger years. Even if some took some more time than he had liked for them to catch on to the topic.
He had decided to refresh on what they learned in the beginning of the year, and see if maybe the could tell them what Astronomy had been because he hoped his teaching had paid off. The man had used his wand to put on the board that sat in his classroom the words. "INTRO TO ASTRONOMY" hoping that he could catch there attention. And he had been glad that none of them were too scared to return to Hogwarts after the attacks at the ball. Because he believed the Ministry and MACUSA had it all under control which made him trust them.
The familiar chatter from students had been coming below, and he let out a smirk. Because it meant that magic had been getting started and when they started to enter, he said. "I hope you all had a good break, and got a lot of Christmas presents from your families." he called out and he thought maybe they could hear about their break before they got into their lesson for the day, and when he saw that everyone arrived. He looked at his students and smirked,"Now that you all have arrived safely, may we begin our lessons talking about what everyone did for the Holidays? I am sure you all did something exciting, I know I spent time with my family and had a Christmas party." he said with a chuckle.
Hoping to not bore his younger years right away, although it would only be a matter of time until they would get into their lesson.
Felicity had by no means found it easy to return to the school after the break. It had taken considerable effort on her papa's side to persuade her to go. And even then she had point blank refused to get onto the train, resulting in him taking her along to Hogsmeade where they had had a dramatic goodbye. Felicity knew that she could not stay away from school. Her papa had to work and she would not stay in the house alone under any circumstances. But she also didn't want to return to the place where the attack had taken place. However, she had no choice.
Where Felicity had been outspoken and loud before, quite sure of herself and full of amazement and curiosity, she was now more subdued, a bit more quiet and withdrawn. And she didn't think that it made for a great story that she'd celebrated Christmas with her papa. He did great things, but those kids with the big families or those who had gone on holiday surely had better tales to tell than her sad one. And so Felicity remained silent in her chair, waiting for the actual lession to start.
Walking into the Astronomy Tower, Sally had to roll her eyes because the star gazing they'd likely do throughout this lesson? It was so... girly, and not her thing. She didn't want to be here. She'd rather be practicing charms or whacking a bludger out on the Quidditch pitch instead. That sounded like a blast to her!
As Narro started the class asking about their holidays, Sally let out a great big sigh and crossed her arms over her chest. She'd rather get this boring lesson over and done with rather than all stand around, pretending to be interested in what each other did over the break. "This is stupid," she muttered, scuffing her foot on the ground.
Clearing her throat when nobody else piped up, Sally decided to just man up and get this over and done with. "Saw my ma and pa, ate loads of food, now back here. What are we doing today, Prof? We're not just gonna talk, right?"
did i beat you at your own game?/typical of me to put us all to shame

Oh, no. The dreaded question of the break. Katrin had hoped to avoid that question upon her return, as it had been rather disappointing. She'd wanted to spend time with Ariella, but the oldest sister had gone off somewhere with her boyfriend nearly as soon as she had arrived home, so Katrin had been moping about the house alone, hoping to avoid whatever was going on between Ozzy and their father and pretending not to be upset that she hadn't gotten a letter or anything from her mum yet for the sixth holiday season in a row.
But if you thought she was going to admit all that to anyone, much less the worst of her classmates, you were dead wrong. She gritted her teeth hard as Sally Jordan began to speak, her lips pressing into a thin smile. Family time. So very cute. Must be nice. Of course, Katrin was sure that nobody's family really had that sort of picture-perfect holiday, only pretended to in the same way she did herself, and she wondered just what sort of dirt she could dig up on the girl if she ever needed it. Not that she wanted to talk to Sally. But just in case, she thought...
"I had a lovely holiday with my brother," Katrin said, her high voice cutting over Sally's loud one at the end of the other girl's sentence. "I even did a bit of stargazing over the break. It's so nice and peaceful, isn't it?" Never hurt to add that little extra for the professor's subject.
Being back at Hogwarts meant that classes will be the same boring stuff, and Ezra didn't want to deal with this crap. But this was Astronomy, the only science he actually liked because it wasn't destroying his stuffed animals or smelling bad. He had no idea why Edmund loved the damn science world so much, and he always made negative remarks toward it whenever his nerd of a brother wanted to do a project. If he wanted to blow stuff up, he didn't need to use science as an excuse.
The blonde had walked into the classroom, letting out a low grumble and heard the professor ask what they did over the holidays. "I tried not to die from my brother's little projects. Ate food. Read some good comics, and I too also did some stargazing." he said, glancing over at Katrin with a sheepish grin. "Hey gorgeous." he sent a wink her way.
Astronomy, one of the weakest of sciences. Sure it was interesting to read the stars, study the universe but in this class it was like astronomy for babies. There was nothing new to learn here for him and it pissed Edmund off to no end. Edmund walked into class and took a seat, his eyebrow arched slightly when Ezra flirted with Katrin. Edmund poked him in the ribs with his elbow and gave Ezra a glare.
"I studied actual science." he said after raising his hand and lowered it again.
Astronomy was one of Mia’s favorite subjects in school, and she was excited to attend the class after the holidays. This was the one class she can show off in, but she decided to relax her brain and let the other students answer the questions. The girl was already planning on hanging around near her new friend she had met recently, and once she had arrived into the tower, her eyes wandered around for the blonde boy. Sure, some boys were pretty stupid but this one seemed to be a sweetheart.
The girl had smiled, and skipped toward Scorpius. ”Hey…” she had said and looked up at the professor as she heard what he had asked. Her eyes went onto each student that had answered, and she rolled her eyes at Ezra. Idiot.
”I actually stayed at the castle doing some reading.” she shared, a proud smile appearing.
Scorpius wasn't the best at astronomy and he surely hoped the professor wouldn't point out his name and the constellation, he didn't know what to say about it and it would put him in the spotlight which he hated more than anything these days. Scorpius looked at Mia who came to sit with him and he gave her a bright smile and a nod. "Hey!" he said and then turned to the professor who asked a question. He wasn't going to answer, he refused to.
Rafael gave a smile at the sounds of all his students Holidays sounding fun. Not much could be told about his holidays which were filled with the typical Narro drama, and seeing his nieces and nephews. As well as his children, and he gave a smile. "I'm glad you all had a good break. And like hell we'll be talking, I have to say one good thing, I started working on my fifth book which I will gladly you write you any, so if you want any extra training. Just got to ask. " he said it didn't hurt to be a little marketing. They were young students after all.
"Now to start off, what can anyone tell me about Astronomy. Enlighten with your prior knowledge, as I am sure all of you had some form of a lesson relating to Astronomy before coming into my classroom. I'd like to know just what you guys know." he said with a smile hoping to learn something more. He also had decided to tell the future plans. "Later on we will pair in groups and look into the telescopes." he said pointing over to the telescopes.
Not one but several of the students proclaimed they star gazed in the holidays and if that wasn't a load of codswallop then she didn't know what was. Coughing very loudly, Sally said, "Suck ups," her words aimed straight towards Katrin and Ezra both. Seriously. As if they both went and willingly stared at the stars.
As the Professor said that he wrote his fifth book, Sally's arms crossed once more because Merlin, wasn't he awfully fond of himself, hyping himself up to the rest of the class? She wasn't even impressed. Congratulations, he strung sentences together and rambled on long enough to fill, like, 300 pages or however long his book was.
Then finally, they were getting started. What did they already know about astronomy? "Last year we had to learn a buttload of stars and their names... why do so many purebloods get named after stars by the way? Haven't their parents heard of baby books? Like, man, I've met so many purebloods named Andromeda."
Scorpius was nervous about this class because he had no clue what to do here. He wasn't good at reading stars or had any knowledge about this subject. He just wanted to get some sleep instead. With a frown the boy just sat there, playing with his tie as he listened to Sally answering the questions and it just made Scorpius feel even more like an idiot.
She spoke of purebloods being named after stars and now Scorpius just really wanted to die of shame.
This man was the most ridiculous example of a professor. Promoting his books which to Edmund were of average knowledge level and written by the hands of a two year old. The boy wasn't expecting people to be overly intelligent but a professor should know better than to promote his books in a class full of kids who could give less than two shits about it.
With a scoff he didn't even bother answering his stupid questions and eyed Ezra. "I am so dropping this class when I can."
