With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Christmas was only a few days away, and Morgan had already arrived at the cabin, welcomed with open arms by her future sister-in-law and the other wolves. This was planned long before the Hogsmeade incident, and nothing was going to stop the Reid’s from having their moment at the cabin during the holidays. They had wished the Jones family a happy holiday before Morgan promised to take care of both her brothers at the cabin. The Reid’s had been there for a couple of days already, playing games and drinking hot chocolate while they waited for the two Young’s to join them. Though Morgan had found herself some rum Papa Reid had hid in the kitchen months ago, and she was hogging it for herself. The female knew damn well that Mama Bear (Artemis) would be a little disappointed.
While the redhead was sitting on the couch drinking rum out of a mug, Artemis was working around the kitchen, making a huge meal for the group. Morgan wasn’t one to work around the kitchen, knowing damn well people would rather have edible food. She wasn’t her mother’s daughter after all, which was a surprise. People had told her that she reminded them of her father, and the attitude she had carried for the past few months proved it.
There was a low hum from the redhead as she watched Peter Tyrell play with the radio as he seated on the floor. The Tyrell was letting out small curses here and there while he tried to get the item work. It was amusing to watch him struggle. ”Peter, it’s dead.” she had told the kid, and he had sent her a glare, pointing the screwdriver at her.
”You have no faith.” he had said, and had gotten back to work on the radio.
”You’re right, I don’t.” she grinned as she sipped the rum before she felt movement on the couch, and someone putting their legs in her lap. ”I’m not rubbing your feet.”
Dallas was excited for the holidays. They had prepared the cabin for all the visitors and now they were here and well almost here because the Young's hadn't arrived yet and Dallas was leaving the food to the girls, Mara was helping Artemis and trying to stop her from eating the marshmallows and Dallas wasn't going to get between them. All he did was steal a kiss and grab a mug of eggnog before sitting down on the couch, his legs in his sister's lap.
"Don't be such a grump, Peter is doing awesome with fixing things." he told his sister and sniffed for a moment. "Did you forget the rest of the eggnog sister?" he asked her softly, not wanting Sky or the others to hear. The downside of being in the same house as wolves.. good smell. Dallas just looked at his twin sister and frowned for a moment. Something was bugging her and he wanted to get it out.
Mara had two cups of eggnog and walked up to Peter who was working on a radio. She loved watching him work on things and lately he had been in the mood to fix whatever was broken. Mara sat down beside him and handed Peter a cup of the hot chocolate. "How is it going with this?" She asked and nodded at the radio. She then listened to Morgan saying it was a lost cause and Peter's response.
Mara took a sip of her drink and hummed. "This stuff is weird." she said and looked behind her at Artemis with a smile before looking at Peter again. "I'm nervous... soon Ryker and Elijah will be here and make this all about them." She whispered to him not wanting to upset Morgan with the fact that Mara didn't really want to see her sister.
when there's nowhere else to run/is there room for one more son?

Looking around at everyone whispering to each other, Skylar sighed, putting his chin in his hands dejectedly. He'd been so excited at the chance to have something resembling a family Christmas again, but he could already tell that between two sets of twins and two happy couples, he was going to be the odd one out again. He would have loved to say that it had stopped bothering him at this point, but that was a lie. And he didn't even have parents anymore to at least pay some attention to him. At least he had managed to sneak some additional rum into his cup of eggnog, assuming he was out of the gaze of his sister, hoping that might improve his holiday.
What a happy Christmas.
He briefly considered going to help Peter tinker with the radio--he had done a year and a half of Muggle Studies, so he thought he might be able to help--but decided against it, not knowing his former schoolmate quite well enough to intrude on whatever he was doing. It would be nice to go sit with Morgan, but that meant risking her smelling just how much alcohol was in her fourteen-year-old brother's cup, so that was out.
Nothing was right, everything was wrong, and Skylar couldn't even think of any place that would be better for him to spend Christmas than here. Hogwarts would be lonely, the Joneses' would be uncomfortably crowded. Maybe he could get someone to make him a potion so he could sleep off the rest of the holidays. And to think that he'd been looking forward to it all.
