With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Holiday season meant that loads of kids went home to their families and though Ollie would miss her mother's hugs and her father's stories this year she had taken it upon herself to spread cheer to the kids here who didn't have any reason to be cheerful. Ollie had been making gifts for all the kids that didn't go home. They were small bracelets she made out of leather.
Now she was going to bake some cakes and asked her little sister to help out. The girl had flower all over herself already because she tried to lift a bag of it and when she put it down it just ended up falling all over her. The elves cleaned it up from the floor and table but Ollie's clothes were not as clean anymore.
She didn't really care though and just started on working on christmas tree shaped cakes while waiting for Mia to come into the kitchen and help out.
Even though Mia considered on going home for the winter break, she decided to stay behind. Yes, she had missed her dog but she was enjoying Hogwarts for the time being and being away from their parents. Cause, she needed it. Being the youngest to attend Hogwarts, Mia would often be protected by her older siblings and parents. It annoyed her a bit, and this was her freedom. Well, that was until she heard that Olivia needed help in the kitchen, and she couldn’t say no to the one sister that didn’t judge her at all. So she had made her way to the kitchens, letting out a yawn as she did so.
Once she had entered the kitchen, she spotted her sister and the white powdered stuff all over her clothes, which made Mia laugh a tiny bit. Okay, maybe she shouldn’t be so mean. Her sister had gotten hurt at the dance after all, and she knew the girl struggled enough. ”Heard you needed my help.” she started, eyeing her sister for a moment as she rolled up her sleeves.
”Want me to do the lifting of the flour? I can’t imagine the mess…”
Ollie just wanted her siblings and the people she loved to enjoy themselves during the holidays even when they weren't home. She never asked them to stay but they seemed all to be wanting to stay here and she wasn't going to stop them from doing so. Many others went home for the holidays and their parents sent their presents with the mail which was a huge load for the poor dear owls.
When Mia entered the kitchen, Ollie had a huge smile on her face as she turned to face her holding a cookie cutter in her hand. "Hey you! You look good!" she said and looked at herself when Mia offered to help with the flour. How could an eleven year old lift that bag over Ollie being four years older? That was crazy! Still Ollie wasn't going to say no to it.
"Go ahead! I thought it would be fun for the two of us to bake cakes and cookies." she said and held up some of the shapes and cookie cutters. "Look I even found unicorn shapes! I figured we could keep the unicorn cookies to ourselves." she said with a wink.
Did Mia really look good? She had found her ugly Christmas sweater, and had decided to wear it to amuse her siblings. She had noticed David wearing his, and they both had a tiny laugh about it before Mia came down here to help her sister out with the baking goods. This would cheer her up a bit more cause she felt like she was being ignored by some of her friends and she needed to get her mind off things. Olivia was someone who could distract her from that stupid boy. And no, she wasn’t even going to talk about him.
The young girl had moved to lift the flour with little struggle and moved it near Ollie so she can reach it better. Two wrists was better than one, right? Right. ”I’ve been good. Just saw David up in the Ravenclaw tower working on his novel I think. Didn’t want to bother him after all…” she said as she eyed the cookie cutters, grinning a bit.
All the Jones kids were given a sweater by their parents and Ollie's was on a chair away from the flour because she didn't want it to get dirty. Ugly Christmas sweaters were funny and hers was from a videogame, her brother picked it out and she loved it. There were so many and she could have sworn one of her siblings had a star wars themed sweater. The blonde gave her younger sister a smile and handed her a cookie cutter once the flour was higher and easier to reach.
"We need a family evening this Christmas. I am sure even David would get away from his books to join us." she said and smiled a bit. The girl was very much excited for Christmas and she was ready to spoil the heck out of everyone. "Do you think the others will mind? It might be fun actually." she said and worked on the dough.
"We can make them as pretty as possible. I was thinking soft sand type of cookies with pretty decorations and glaze." she said and looked at Mia.
Mia loved spending time with her big sister whenever she wasn’t busy plotting to murder Declan Tyrell. The girl had no idea what was up with him, but he made her angry every time she saw him. No, she didn’t like him. Boys were gross. The thought of kissing one would make her shudder, and want to die. Mia was eleven for God’s sake! She wasn’t into boys! She wasn’t into anything. Nope. No effin’ way. So baking with her sister made her forget about him a bit. Olivia had saved her from her own aching mind.
”I think the others would love to have a Christmas evening sometime. It’s so peaceful during the holidays. Or so I’ve been told. This is my first time being away from home, and even though I miss Milo, I think he can deal without me a little bit longer.” she said with a slight pout. She did request a few photos of her dog, and they were promised by family members so she hoped to get some in the post soon.
