With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable
Edmund walked like the confident young man he was past people on the lawns. He was looking for a place to conduct his experiment the best way he possibly could. His blue eyes scanned the area, trying to find the right spot and of course the right spot had to happen be where a girl was standing. Now he didn't fear or dislike females but he surely wouldn't talk to one unless he had to.
This time, he had to. The boy approached the girl and rose an eyebrow. She wasn't familiar and he didn't really care for her name either so he was going to be polite, give her the charming smile that makes girls weaker and then hopefully she'd kindly go away.
"Hello." he said politely and had his hands folded behind his back, his posture straight and his expression emotionless and calm.
Celeste was working on something that she just couldn’t figure out, slowly driving her mad as it was. Muggles seemed to be so forward about some things and yet so backwards when it came to others. The latest thing that it was that people seemed to be opposed to actually giving back to nature. Celeste knew it was easier for wizarding kind of course, but so many campaigns to make change happen and yet nothing did. That was something she was trying to understand. Figuring the answer lay somewhere in politics she heaved a big sigh. That was one field that did not have her attention, nor would she go into it after school. She had no idea if that had been her dad’s idea or not.
Mulling over the parchment in her hand she nibbled on the back of her muggle pencil, which was one thing she had to give to the mundane as she had taken to calling them herself. As the word muggle was a slur back in the day, when wizards were smarter than mundane people. Now some wizards believed it to be impossible to go to the ruddy moon. Celeste was woken from her musings when she heard a very polite ‘hello’ coming from somewhere in front of her.
Raising her eyes from her parchment, in doing so checking her outfit for stains or crinkles the brunette looked at the white blonde boy who had spoken up. Tucking a strand of hair back behind her ear she merely raised an eyebrow as she replied. ’’Not to sound rude, but hello what do you want?’’ She intoned as politely for the rather rude comment. Her mind was still rather elsewhere. Either what she had been working on or what had happened before between her and Vi.
I will tiptoe down that line but I will feel unstable
Edmund didn't recognize the girl and neither did he know what she did with her sister. He honestly didn't care about what she wanted or who she was. Edmund cared about the spot for his experiment and she was in his way so he kindly had to get rid of her. Edmund let out a small sigh and frowned, she was rather rude for someone who was just approached by a charming individual as himself.
"Can't a person just say hello and engage in a hopefully friendly conversation between two individuals?" he asked with his brow arched. He was slightly insulted by her like he lacked the intelligence to talk to her. He didn't even know the little brat. Edmund kept his charm on and looked at her work.
Resisting the urge to roll her eyes at the younger boy Celeste knew she had been rude, but there was no need to be so, what was the word, snide, no, sarcastic, likely. Meaning she went with that and prepared a better sentence to throw back at the blonde boy, if only to not be seen as the rude upper year girl who would be talking down for no reason. ’’Of course a person can hope for a friendly conversation, sadly it does not always happen. For which I must apologise I was rude, even though I tried to intone it polite enough.’’
Looking back at the parchment she had been writing on, finding she had not only been thinking about how muggle politics was different from their own, but also a more peculiar thing. An experiment if you will to see what was one’s sexual preference. Finally there had been the initial thing she had been working on, trying to see if there was a chance if muggles would be able to track someone, a sibling by what the mundane called DNA, or whatever.
’’To be fair it seems I was working on multiple things at the same time, like social experiments on sexual preference. This tree is one of my favourite spots to do my thinking, if you catch my drift? If I may be so bold as to ask you what your plans for this spot were? As I sincerely hope they were not to alter it beyond magic?’’ Curiosity had struck, which was one of the things she knew she had to be careful with as it could go wrong very quickly.
Being charming was not news to Edmund but the fact that he needed to keep up the act like he wasn't much smarter than her when he knew very well he would outdo her within the blink of an eye. The boy arched his brow slightly but not in a way that would show insult. "Well then let's forget the fact that you rudely assumed I wasn't approaching you for a friendly conversation and move on?" he asked with the most angelic look on his face. He and his brother had this cutie pie effect that worked quite well on their mothers but Edmund needed to fake interest on this girl. There was a difference.
Of course he was going to regret asking this girl what she was doing in the first place. How was he meant to know she was one of those types. "Sexual preference? Aren't you a little young to care about such a thing?" he asked the girl with a frown. She couldn't be much older than he was and she was already trying to talk sexual preferences? God teenagers were becoming more brainless than they were before, time did not do anyone any good it seemed.
"My intentions were simply to continue to study if you wish to know so badly." He told her with a small shrug of his shoulders. It was no big deal and she wasn't going to get under his skin. "Though correct me if I am wrong but if you were here to think about your sexual preferences which would surely be a lovely way to spend your time. Wouldn't it be much more comfortable to think about it in your own bed? It is not as public as the outside world." Edmund wasn't stupid and knew very well about the things he wished he didn't know.
Celeste raised her shoulders in a motion not unlike a shrug when he asked if they were to move on from their previous argument and she was fine with it. No reason to be antagonizing, or so she thought at that moment. Not exactly being taken in by his way of talking and acting. Her eyes thundering when she was asked if she wasn’t too young to be thinking about such things as sexuality, what did the little runt think that he was, Merlin’s gift to the magical world? No thank you, in according to her thoughts she kept them to herself for the moment and tried to answer normally, but her train of thought was interrupted before her reply left her mouth.
Thinking there was no reason why he couldn’t study there, even if he was being a little snot about it she was about to let him, that was until he went on about things he shouldn’t assume stuff about. ’’First of all, you’re free to study wherever you want, even if it’s where I was before as it’s one of the nicest places on the grounds. I don’t have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is that you assume I was thinking about experimenting with my own sexuality and should do so while being on my own in a broom closet or my bed for example.’’
Really getting going into her rant, which she shouldn’t be doing, but did anyway, because it felt good as stress relief for the tension that was still her missing brother and all that had been going on she continued after a deep breath, still equally loud and annoyed. ’’ I recall saying social experiments on sexual preference, that does not mean I mean myself or get everyone to snog the same gender or whatever. It’s mostly observation of others, just in case you were interested on the social bit. That and setting up confrontations between people who seem to act certain ways, to see if I was right. Hell I thought of applying mundane studies like DNA comparison, but no jump straight to the bedroom. You know what have the bloody spot for all I bloody care, goodbye..’’ Knowing it wasn’t the best thing she had said or done she stormed off.
