With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
when there's nowhere else to run/is there room for one more son?

This was so humiliating. Skylar tried to tell himself that it was only Alex who he was crying in front of, but as they'd never had reason to speak to each other outside of class before this, he didn't really know Alex, and that was the problem. At least he could say that Alex could understand, sort of, and that meant he was less likely to tell everyone how bad of shape Skylar was really in, so that was--good.
"Well, yeah, I've got my sister, but she's only in sixth year, and my brother--he doesn't go to school anymore--" Skylar left it at that. Everyone probably knew already why Dallas had been missing for the last two years, and he didn't really feel like dragging that whole can of worms out as well. "And I've got a foster family, but I haven't really spent much time with them, and they've got a ton of other kids to take care of anyway." He shrugged. It was very kind of the Joneses to take them on along with all of the kids they'd already adopted, but it was incredibly weird to be shoved into a new family right away, especially when some of his new "siblings" had just been classmates for the last few years, and when he wasn't used to having so many people around.
Bringing his hands to his face, Skylar brushed away a few of the tears, taking deep breaths to try to calm his lungs. "I guess--a hug would be nice, yeah." He always felt better after hugs from his sister. And from the sound of it, Alex could use one, too. The boy sounded nearly as shaken up as Skylar himself, stuttering through all his sentences. He reached his arms out, wrapping them around Alex's shoulders, careful not to drip any tears there--that would be awkward. "Much better than being beaten up, right?" Alex was really warm and soft, he thought, which was really nice, comforting, and he pulled him even closer.

Alex regretted asking the other boy if he had loved ones, really, because... well, a foster family. It made Alex's stomach churn with jealousy because he wanted that. He wanted it more than anything and yet... well, and yet despite his short visits at foster homes, they'd never liked him enough to keep him. "Are... that's good that your sister's around and..." Alex didn't really know what had happened to Skylar's brother but he didn't pry, brow furrowing. "Is, um... did they adopt you or..." Alex would guess no because Skylar hadn't said adoptive parents, but maybe the other boy just wasn't comfortable with the term. He didn't know him enough to say.
The other boy said yes to a hug and it caught Alex off guard because... shit, what did he do now? Just... just wrap his arms around... it had been literally years since he'd hugged somebody properly and with hesitant hands, he placed them around Skylar's waist, letting the boy pull him close. "Yeah, it's... it's, uh. A... vast improvement to being beaten up." For a moment, Alex let himself get lost in the moment. Skylar was warm, and... and when he placed his head in the crook of his neck, he swore he could hear the pulse in the Hufflepuff's neck thumping.
Raising his head, Alex didn't quite register his next move until it was too late, brushing his lips against Skylar's although a moment later, they were gone and Alex jerked back as though he'd been slapped straight across the face. "That was... that was an accident," he blurted, eyes widening as large as saucepans. "Just a - I didn't mean - they just... I was just moving my head and your lips got in the way. I'm not..." There he went, making it ten times worse, and before the other boy could respond, Alex grabbed his belongings off the desk without so much as a goodbye, practically sprinting out of the room. He needed some air because he wasn't gay and so... why had he done that?
