With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
A lot has happened in the past couple of days, and Ozzy was feeling more guilt as the days go by. He had withdrew himself from hanging with his friends, keeping a distance since the incident of Casey and the Astronomy Tower. He was angry with himself for letting the bullying get so far to a point the girl wanted to die. Even though he wasn't the one to actually put her up there, he was friends with the guy who did. And his friend was in the hospital wing due to injuries brought by Ozzy himself. He didn't want it to come to this, to see someone so hurt. It bothered him deeply, and he was going to feel it for the rest of his life.
Ozzy had found himself sitting near the lake, hugging his knees as he watched the lake ahead. It somehow calmed him down, made him feel a little more human. He felt like he needed a drink, or several but he kept telling himself that he wasn't his father. he wasn't angry drunk guy. He was a seventeen year old. Troubled. And can't be fixed. Maybe his father was right. Maybe it should have been him instead of Peter.
He heard footsteps behind him, and he had looked back at the person.
Celeste had been looking for her half brother for a while now and so far had absolutely no luck in finding him. Too much had happened in the past summer and at school it hadn’t been much better. Oswald could be a prick and an annoying older brother and a lot of other things to Celeste, but at times like these she felt sorry for him. She knew she wasn’t the easiest most of the time either, especially for how her family was about everything. Her dad could be very harsh and yet very loving about other things.
However it seemed that some of her siblings had it harder than she did most of the time. That might have also been because she was out of the house a lot, or avoided most confrontations with her dad and siblings for which she could get in trouble. Finally she had had the luck that someone had pointed her in the direction of the lake when she had not so subtly asked where to find her brother. Walking up to a Slytherin sixth year and demand to tell her where her brother is, or she’d hex his bits off wasn’t subtle, but got the job done.
She had been careful about approaching her brother though, Celeste had a hunch in what kind of mood he could be. She was probably not the best one to handle this, but she felt like she had to try, for family’s sake. In a voice much more careful than most of the time she replied to the comment. ’’ No Oswald, I’m not here to tell you that you’re a failure. You know that I don’t think of you that way and likely never will. Sure you can be annoying and a jerk at times, even to me, but at the end of the day we are related. Half siblings, or just siblings, whatever way you look at it. I know I’m not perfect either and to be honest I thought you could use some company that didn’t try to spit you out.’’
Sitting down next to Oswald she took the same position he did, hugging her knees, even though she had made sure that everything was still covered by her school uniform. Celeste had absolutely no intention of flashing her panties to others, or anything else. That much had been made clear by the pudding incident. Tomorrow she’d go back to making Oswald’s life hell as sibling, but that was her job, not some random guy/girl’s job. He was her family, that’s that.
Oswald was feeling a lot of things these days, and sometimes he just wanted to cry, to let it out but he wasn't one to show weakness. Not in a public place anyway. There was only one person to ever see him cry, and that was Ariella. She was there to wipe the tears, and tell him to man up because who wanted Ozzy Tyrell to cry in his oldest sister's arms? No one did. He needed to move on from all the events that took place this past few months, and he wanted things to get back to normal. He wanted his father to tell him he was proud, but he was never going to get those words from him. Not now.
"You're the only one that doesn't thing that Cece." he said softly as he watched the lake as he thought over his father's harsh words. "Father wants me dead. Parker wants me dead." he said and sighed softly as he thought about all of it. "I'm thinking of leaving Hogwarts to go look for Peter. I can't just sit here and be useless."
Feeling more than a little upset that she was the only one that didn’t think he was a piece of dirt worth less than a piece of gum stuck to a shoe was rather unsettling for Celeste. Of course she could be a bitch about it, or sass him all over the place but heaving a sigh she nodded. ’’I know it’s not much, but it’s someone at least Ozzy. About father and Parker wanting you dead, I don’t think they mean it that much at least. First you are his son and you are her brother. I think she’d be rather upset if you actually died you know. I know I’d be.’’
Thinking a bit longer on him wanting to leave Hogwarts to look for their lost brother before she answered him she came to a conclusion. ’’I know somewhat how you feel, I mean I want to find him as well, but I also know that me being a fourth year I don’t know nearly enough to find him, unless I trip over something and fall onto him. I guess what I am trying to say is, finish your school, or try to sit your NEWTS early, that way you’ll be qualified to do whatever you want when Peter’s found. I have not given up yet, none of us have. How silly this all must sound coming from me…’’
She shook her head and let the wind blow her hair over her shoulders as she tried to make sense of what she wanted to let him know. He wasn’t exactly one to be the one to need physical comfort, as far as she knew. So laying her hand to the side in case he actually wanted some contact it’d be up to him.
Oswald had kept his eyes on the lake while he listened to his half-sister talk to him, and he hummed to respond to her a bit. Did Parker and their father hate him for real? He had no idea. It was confusing for him, and they showed that they didn’t care about him at all in the past several months. Perhaps it was the grief talking - perhaps his father didn’t mean the words he had said to Ozzy. The elder male was a drunk after all, and was falling apart even though he had a replacement child on the way with his latest wife. Maybe that was a little mean, but Ozzy had lost count of how many wicked step-mother’s he had.
”What if Peter is not found? What if they find a body? Father’s already losing it. He’s been drinking rather heavily these days.” he said, and finally looked at her with a sigh. ”We might lose Father if Peter ends up being dead.”
Was Oswald Tyrell scared of losing his father? Yes. Even though they didn’t get along these days, Oswald loved him. Loved all of his family members even though he barely ever said it. He mostly showed it when he’s not being an asshole.
She knew it was hard on her half brother, she really knew. She also thought it was a very good thing to get things out in the open a bit more and talk about stuff. Not that she was very good at that, she was better at research and present the evidence she had, if there was any to be found. Which is why she liked the way most muggles did science. It was methodical and almost always based on logic, which is why she could be a bitch with facts to just about anyone, except for the ones she liked and trusted. Which was of course her family, but right now she was searching for words and what to say as she honestly was left floundering.
’’I don’t know what will happen if Peter’s not found, or if they find a body, I can imagine a few things, none pleasant though..’’ Losing their collective father was a very real option, normally he didn’t seem the type to drink and go on a rampage, but the rampage just might happen before the alcohol would claim its ultimate prize. ’’Isn’t there anyone you’d stay for, I mean we’re not close or anything, but you know..’’
She hoped he got it, that she didn’t exactly mean family, but anyone at all. As the task of going to look for Peter started to sound more like a suicide mission by the minute in her head.
Oswald had tried to keep his emotions in check, and had never cried in front of anyone but Ariella. The girl supported him through the years, and was his best friend. His sister had taken care of him from a young age when their father was busy sleeping with women, and marrying all the women he did. He had watched his father love children that shouldn’t have been born. Oswald’s own mother was Samuel’s true love, and had lost her when Ozzy was just a baby. He barely remembered the woman, and he wished he had the memories Ariella had of their mother. Sure, his step-mother’s weren’t that bad but he didn’t care for them. They weren’t his real mother.
”I promised dad I’ll stay here. Maybe I’ll get him to love me again. Ariella needs me around, or I need her around. She’s been my support system ever since we were children.” he said and looked at her. ”And you guys. I might not show it, and shit but I do care about you. And the others. I’m not that asshole who would wish their sibling dead.”
Comforted somewhat by his admission to promising their dad that he would stay there, even though it was to win the affection back. Something Celeste wished wasn’t a thing Ozzy had thought he needed to do in any way shape or form. Of course he could be a gigantic prick that she’d happily toss into the lake they were sitting at, that didn’t mean she wished him gone. Wet and a bit pissy because of it, sure, gone no. Nodding along about Ariella, Celeste couldn’t say she had interacted a lot with her older half sister.
Her expression becoming even softer if possible and tears threatening in the corner, to be fair she had more often than not thought she was just a pain in the butt for her siblings. ’’I don’t wish any of us dead either Ozzy, every now and again wet from being tossed into the lake for being a prick, sure, dead oh hell no. I won’t profess knowing what it’s like to get more and more siblings, but I can imagine it not being the easiest thing, especially when we can be right…what’s the word I am looking for…being a pain in the butt?’’
Not caring any longer she leaned against her bigger brother, hoping he wouldn’t mind too much if she did so. ’’I try to keep the family name up and not be a total embarrassment to my siblings, I love them too much for that. That very much includes you.’’
Oswald didn’t even move when she leaned against him, instead it made the male smile. It was rare to see the boy to smile whenever he was around other people because he was trying to keep his reputation of being the asshole everyone knows, and tried to act all bad. But for those who knew Ozzy (family), they knew he was in pain and want to find himself in the world. He wanted his father to love him again, wanted to make that male smile even more when Ozzy would bring home good grades. All Ozzy wanted was to be loved, and he felt that whenever he was with his family even though they wanted to toss him in the lake, most of the time.
He had leaned his head on hers for a moment as he listened to her and he couldn’t help but chuckle. ”I think it’s in the younger siblings contract to annoy their older sibling. Same for the older ones.” he told her with a tiny smile. ”We can try to keep our family name from going to shame.”
Maybe they’ll earn brownie points with their old man.
Leaning a bit more into her brother she heard him talk about the contract of younger siblings and she was a bit thoughtful about it. To herself she figured she would need to find the contract and make a few amendments, or maybe write up a new one entirely, with the help of a good lawyer. Just to make it ironclad. The fact that he admitted it was at least in the contract for older siblings as well made her smile, at least they were even on that footing. The thing about trying to keep their family name from going to shame had her a bit uncomfortable. She knew her dad wouldn’t mind so much about her love life and who she ended up with, as long as the family name was kept up.
Finally comfortable she figured out what she’d say in return. ’’First of all, I need to see a lawyer or two and the contracts we signed upon birth as siblings. I need to make a few minor amendments to the ones the Tyrell family signs. Nothing much, just a bit more allowing to show affection in public. About keeping the family name from shame, I try and I will keep trying. Nothing like having some revenge, with people knowing it was you and not having any evidence. Also research into tracking spells is hard.’’ Which was what she had been doing ever since she had learned of Peter’s disappearance. Her brother was warm and she was tired. Celeste just hoped she could stay awake…to no avail as she drifted off, leaning against her brother.
