With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Aurelie was hard at work on the creature induced injuries ward. Ever since the anti werewolf laws were put into place she's been a nervous wreck with worry. Her son Christophe was bitten in 2016 when Hogwarts was attacked. Now he wasn't allowed to go back there so her daughter had returned to school without her twin, which Aurelie knew must be hard for her.
Before that in 2010 her husband Rainier was bitten by an unknown werewolf. He lost his previous job because of the laws that had been put in place. He ended up getting some sort of low paying job in Knockturn Alley since there was nothing else to do. Aurelie worried about her husband a lot, working in such a dangerous place. She also constantly worried about Christophe being somewhere out there, wondering how he was managing to take care of himself.
Another potion disaster - honestly Pierre felt like his workload would be significantly decreased if people had to be licensed to brew their own potions at home... or if Hogwarts did a better job with its graduates. Though this was a forty-something old woman with hairs on her chin and deep smoker-lines in her painted lips so really it was a tall order for Pierre to blame the school for her ignorance.
"You really must follow the recipe to the exact letter, Mrs Dumphrey," he explained, the hands in his robes pumping a stress ball to keep him from rolling his eyes at his patient. "If you cannot read them, then might I suggest you visit an optometrist?" the indignant onslaught did little to raise Pierre's regard of the woman. Had he been a little closer, he'd no doubt be showered with old-woman spittle.
"Here is some well brewed draught of peace. I suggest you take a sip or two before I return," he placed the vial on the bedside table pointedly before he left the room. Deep breaths, Pierre reminded himself as he walked through the corridors. The healer liked to keep a keen eye on what was happening throughout St. Mungo's and liaise with various staff about their potion requirements.
This particular time, Pierre's cold eyes fell upon Aurelie. She was a fellow Frenchwoman, though had the misfortune of marrying into England. Stupid woman, made even more stupid in his eyes as her history with wolves was well enough known. "Bonjour, Aurelie," Pierre said when a greeting was unavoidable. "Comment ca va? Any serious bites occurred recently? Any not by werewolves?"
Aurelie looked up when her co worker Pierre greeted her. "Not at the moment I don't think. The recent Macmillian case has had all my attention lately." she replied. With the current werewolf situation it seemed like her work was never done. Aurelie enjoyed her job but it was a tough job as well.
Over the weekend she read in the Daily Prophet about what happened to Anthony MacMillian, a boy the same age as her own children. It broke her heart to see the distraught looks of his family when the boy was admitted to the hospital. In some ways it reminded her all too well more or less of the hell she'd gone through after Christophe was attacked. At the moment it was uncertain what was going to happen once the boy woke up. The wolf that attacked the Macmillian boy was in human form and her son had been attacked by a werewolf at school on the full moon.
The woman couldn't even return Pierre's forced pleasant greetings? The Healer's opinion of his colleague plummeted even further than they had been before and it took every ounce of his mastery of falsehood to keep the smile lingering on his face. "The MacMillan case, hmm? Pray, tell me more? It's always far more interesting than the old biddies that can't read the label on vials anymore," Pierre said with a hint of a smirk on his angular features. It was, after all, a large portion of his job these days.
Just because witches could live longer these days doesn't mean they should. With that thought, Pierre looked his colleague up and down - she looked tired and as if she hadn't thought even for two seconds about her appearance (in his mind, anyway). In a few years time, she'd have worry lines deeper than the old woman he'd just told to down a draught earlier. Perhaps he should mention something? No. Focus Pierre.
"There must be more than what the papers have reported? Has he turned into a werewolf yet?"
Aurelie wondered why Pierre was so interested in the Macmillian case. It seemed very odd to her but the French woman wasn't going to say anything. He didn't even work in the same ward as she did, though sometimes she had to get Potions from him for patients that were under her care in the Dai Lllewlyn Ward. "No, I don't think the papers have reported anything more. No one knows what's going to happen when the boy wakes up. "
It was a shame what had happened to the Macmillian boy. The papers had already mentioned that the Ministry declared Anthony can't return to Hogwarts. The thirty eight year old healer really didn't want to have to give the boy's family anymore bad news.
Aurelie's reply was ... why did Pierre even bother speaking to her? He'd get more information from a dog. As one of the healers assigned to the MacMillian case, Pierre would have thought the woman would have some idea on how the boy was going. Resisting the urge to question where the hell Aurelie received her credentials, the man nodded cordially.
"He hasn't woken yet? That must be a bad sign. I imagine the family is sick with worry,"do not smile, about this, Pierre. Expertly masking his humour with concern, Pierre continued, "well, perhaps I should let you get back to him so you can figure out how badly the boy's life is going to change. If you need anything, you know where to find me..."
Killy was given a case file and knew that it was important so grabbing an intern who was well trained and making sure they were all good with answering her phones and checking people in, Killy grabbed the file and went to look for Dr. Beaumont. Obviously it was important if they told her to go find the woman. Killy's first gut instinct was to check the first floor before she went anywhere else, it wasn't long until she found the young woman talking to Dr. Selwyn. "So sorry to interrupt the two of you but Dr. Beaumont I was instructed to give this file to you. A patient has been having some discomfort and when you're free they would like for you to attend to the patient" Killy said before she nodded her head and left to go back to her station.
