With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
It was a comfortable day at Hogwarts, Mavican cuddled into a jacket belonging to her girlfriend she wasn't going to be able to see until a Hogsmeade weekend and the smell of her perfume was driving the little redhead a bit crazy if she had to be honest. Today was going to be a good day, she had managed to get the attention of her best friend in this world, he seemed like he needed her in a way though maybe she just needed him more than she liked to admit. The split with Casey didn't go smoothly at first but they were at peace now yet it was still odd and awkward whenever they laid eyes on each other.
It was weird to look at the girl's little blonde girlfriend who is too shy to even speak a decent word yet Mavican was.. happy? for them. Maybe it was the push she needed to end up with a girl more her speed? The same wildness, the same drive.. maybe it was just meant to be this way. With a slight smile she was standing on the quidditch field and held up the quaffle.
"Let's play ball handsome, winner gets free drinks at the broomsticks!" she offered and looked at Rowan playfully. "Unless you surrender already.." honestly she didn't care if he won, she just wanted to have fun with Rowan.
As Rowan stood in the Quidditch pitch in front of his best friend with one of the rougher looking school brooms clutched in his right hand, he had a great big smile plastered across his face. It definitely didn't represent the way he was currently feeling inside, but acting like he truly felt was a downer and he didn't want to put the weight of his messy, tangled emotions - sadness, guilt, worry - onto Mavican who looked happy as Larry with the quaffle cradled in her arms. Besides, it wasn't her problem to deal with and he didn't want to talk about it anyway. He just needed a distraction, and this was a perfect one.
"Handsome, hey? Not even a week back at Hogwarts and you're already showering me in compliments. What would your future zombaby momma if she heard that?" Rowan said teasingly, wiggling his eyebrows in her way. His eyes went rolling not a few seconds later as she suggested he was going to surrender. "Never. This is war. Take no prisoners." With that, Rowan mounted his broom and flew up into the sky until he was positioned in the middle of the field, mid-air. "Who's defending goals first? You or me?"
Gosh doesn't it feel good to just be out with a friend without a worry in the world? They could talk about anything or just rough house with some quidditch equipment and laugh at the end of the day saying they enjoyed themselves. The redhead grinned from ear to ear knowing her best friend couldn't resist the challenge. Though she then was reminded she never told him about her breakup with Casey, that they were no longer a couple.
"Yeah so we broke up.." she said and got on her broom. Mavican shot up in the sky with her own broom and was right across from him holding onto the ball. "I'll defend first." She said and tossed him the ball. Mavican was going to tell him about Shay but she didn't even know how to start that. "How many shots do you want to do? Five?" she asked him and spun around on her broom.
The fake smile Rowan was wearing promptly slid off his face as Mavican replied there was no future zombaby mumma because apparently she and Casey were no longer an item. "Shit, sorry. Didn't know," he said sheepishly. But how would he have? It wasn't like he caught up with anyone in the holidays. He'd been too busy chasing down Rue, his mind constantly spinning with all of the bad things that could happen to her whilst he tried to find her. "I - you wanna talk about it? Do I need to start avoiding her? 'Cause shit, man, I don't know what happened but I kinda liked her. She was like a... little package-sized pistol."
Rowan thought for a moment, before nodding. "Yeah, let's do it, dude. I get five shots. If I get... uh, more than 2.5, you're buying me a gallon of butterbeer," he said, before rolling his eyes teasing as she showed off her little broomstick tricks. "Yeah, we get it, you're the new captain, soon to be recruited for a team. Don't gotta rub it in my face." His voice was light and joking because really, despite how he currently felt inside, he was happy for her. She'd worked hard for captaincy and it was nice to see somebody enjoying the new school year.
Mavican didn't expect Rowan to know what went down over the summer. She didn't expect him to know about the breakup and the very sexsessful (see what she did there?) event that grew into her having a new girlfriend following up. "I hadn't been able to get myself to write you about it so of course you didn't. Don't apologise." she told her friend with a honey sweet tone to her voice. She honestly didn't blame him or got upset because Rowan didn't know about the breakup.
"She and Cassidy seemed to fit better than she did with me." Mavican didn't know how else to say it, her ex cheated on her and that was that. "We're still friends ish.. so no need to avoid her. Honestly, you can stay her friend if you want to be. I am not going to get mad at that." Mavican wasn't that type of friend who would tell her friends not to see their friends because she was mad at them. Heck, she slept with 99% of the student population so really, there was no reason.
Mavican flew to the posts and spun around again. "Come at me bro!" she hit her chest acting all tough. "Who knows, I might introduce you to my new lady!" she added hoping it'd distract him in her advantage.
It appeased a little bit of the guilt he was feeling, hearing Mavi say she wouldn't have been able to write back to him about what was going on anyway. It appeared the both of them had trouble talking about their feelings. Swinging an arm across her shoulder, he drew her close with a squeeze and pressed a kiss against the top of her head. "So, back to your man... woman... non-discriminatory-eater ways?" he asked. It was kind of impressive, seeing her pre-Casey. She had game like nobody else... including him who had slept with a grand total of, uh, one person. Something he hadn't really shared with anyone - not out of shame, but more so... out of respect for the other person. Also, it was kinda hard to just casually bring up you lost your virginity to a really hot Hufflepuff in the Astronomy tower after getting lit.
He had to admit, it was impressive how Mavican was so level-headed about this whole situation. Props to her and everything. "You're a good person, Mavi. So gracious. I'm gonna start calling you 'Your Majesty.' I expect you to give everyone the Queen's wave when you pass them from now on," he joked lightly. At least talking about this made it easier not to dwell on Rue, or the sadness that sank his stomach like a stone. It gave him something else to focus on.
Shooting forward on his broom towards the goals, Rowan held the quaffle tightly in his arms, although her words of 'my new lady' almost caused him to drop the damn thing because uh, that was fast. "Maybe I'll introduce you to my new man," he returned, right before lobbing the quaffle at the left-side goal.

Mavican had her ways with women and men alike, she could charm them right into their naked state which she preferred anyway and her best friend knew it. Sure, she never used it on him because Rowan saw her as more than a pretty face but still, she didn't want to go back to that. To the unloved, lonely girl who couldn't find affection the way she needed it. The way she craved it more than people crave anything. The redhead shook her head and cocked her head to the side.
"I won't go back to that. It didn't do me much good besides sexual pleasures." she told him with a slight smile, genuine this time. The girl was ready for him to throw the ball but they were still in a confession state. "Well as a royal now, I expect you to throw the ball and stop distracting me." Mavican winked and clapped her hands together. "Wait you have a dude?!" she squealed and almost fell backwards but held herself steady.
"I have to tell you about my girlfriend but this dude thing or whoever the crush is, you must tell me!"
"I dunno... here I was, thinking they'd started a 'Mavican Jones Fan Club' consisting of people who'd gotten between your sheets. I thought that'd count as some 'good,'" Rowan joked, trying to lighten the heavier mood that had seemed to fall over them. He didn't want things to become depressing - after all, they already were when he was by his lonesome, no distractions to be found anywhere.
Throwing the ball towards her left goal, Rowan let out a laugh at Mavican's reaction because, "Gotcha." He... did he even like guys? He wasn't... sure. There wasn't anything wrong with digging a little bit of dude lovin' and sometimes he let himself sneak looks at, uh, some certain guys' behinds but... did that mean he liked guys too? "There's no dude, don't worry. I was just pulling your leg... wait, girlfriend? You have a new girlfriend?"
