With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Frankie had been sitting in the Gryffindor common room in front of the fireplace for the past hour, nursing a cup of hot chocolate as she waited for Rose to return from doing whatever the redhead was doing. A blanket had been draped over her legs as she sat there, staring deeply into the fire while she took in the peace. It was rare to get a few moments alone, but it was a beautiful spring day and a bunch of people had been taking advantage of the weather. The flowers were blooming, people were planning picnics on the ground. Frankie though, she had been taking a break from studying and homework to think of a nice little date for her and the girl she liked.
When she had heard the portrait open to the common room, Frankie got hopeful thinking it was Rose but instead it was one of her dormmates. Okay, sure, she adored Kitty and how outgoing she seemed to be. Sometimes Frankie needed someone like her around to make herself look like she’s more sane. Frankie wasn’t disappointed when she saw her classmate, instead she had smiled.

It was an absolutely beautiful day, and Kitty had spent most of it out in the grounds, soaking in as much spring sunlight as she could after the long, dark months of the winter. Regrettably, of course, some work also had to be done, and at length, she had decided that she really ought to go back to the common room and actually do it. Though it had taken her somewhat longer than she had anticipated to be able to shake off her companions and get back up to Gryffindor Tower, she had managed it at last, and entered the common room with pink cheeks and a bright smile which only grew brighter as she spotted her roommate by the fire.
"Frankie!" she exclaimed in delight, bounding across the room and depositing herself in the other girl's lap, pausing only briefly to give her a tight hug. "I'm doing great! Isn't it a lovely day? And how about you; why have you been hiding yourself away in here? Is everything all right?" She turned, giving her fellow Gryffindor as serious a look as she could manage, though she wasn't well adapted for it.
Frankie was well prepared for Kitty to land herself in her lap, wrapping her in a hug. It amused her because she knew her friend well and it amused her. As soon as her friend had hugged her in a tight hug, Frankie had wrapped her arms around the other girls waist with a grin. At least her friend’s weight on her legs was enough to keep her warm. Frankie wasn’t about to complain unless she needed to pee, but thankfully the fourth year was smart that day and did her business.
”It is a lovely day, from what I saw. I Haven’t really been outside at all.” she answered, making a face as she thought about it. Maybe she should have gone outside, get some fresh air but instead she had gone to the kitchens, got her hot chocolate and got herself comfortable in front of the fire.
”I’m fine, just wanted to sit inside and drink my hot chocolate.” she said, nodding at the cup she had ditched moments before Kitty took over her lap.

Kitty gasped. "At all?" she repeated, somewhat incredulously. She really didn't understand how anyone could see such beautiful weather through the window and be content to spend their time sitting by the fire. Of course, she was as big a fan of a cosy armchair and blazing grate as anyone else when the icy Scottish rain was beating against the windowpanes, or the winter snow was concealing the outside world altogether, but when the sky was clear and the weather was good, then why on earth would she be content to do nothing? As much as she loved to curl up and cuddle, she was at least equally keen on getting out and about, meeting other people, and enjoying the arrival of spring.
"Oooh, hot chocolate..." Kitty settled herself more comfortably. She was a big fan of hot chocolate; especially with cream and lots of marshmallows- anything sweet, if she was honest. "But it's the wrong time of year for that, silly! You drink hot chocolate in the winter." Which was over. Of course that was a shame and she was rather missing it, but spring was exciting too!
”Don’t judge me.” Frankie told her classmates and dorm mate. Of course it might be weird to drink hot chocolate by the fire when the weather was beautiful outside but Frankie didn’t care if people thought it was weird - and she knew damn well that Kitty was judging her by the tone she was using. Did she care? No, not really. All she wanted was to run into Rose again, ask her about a better date. Maybe outside during the beautiful spring - a picnic like the girl had suggested months ago. It wasn’t a bad idea.
Frankie’s eyebrows raised as she eyed the girl on her lap, her arm slowly reaching out for a cup of hot chocolate on the table beside them. Lifting the cup to her lips, Frankie grinned and chuckled softly. ”Mm. But I was craving hot chocolate, Kitty. I can’t help it.” she said, taking a sip and almost burning her mouth. Holy hell.

"Oh, I would never!" she insisted, an exaggerated expression of shock on her face. Kitty did her best not to judge other people; she knew that she herself would tend not to come out very well in such a process, and so it would have been rather hypocritical of her to spend her time in critiquing others. "I was just surprised that you weren't enjoying the sun, since it was nice!" After all, it was so wonderful to be outside at this time of year and to see the season in the process of changing. Kitty always liked new things, and the weather was no different.
She twisted her upper body slightly- it was polite to look at someone when they were talking to you, but that was very difficult when they were sitting behind you. "I think I can forgive you that..." she teased, with an attempt at a thoughtful expression. "Hot chocolate is a very wonderful thing..."
Frankie had taken a sip of her hot chocolate when Kitty moved her upper body to face her, cause Frankie to raise her eyebrows at her friend. The girl never minded when her friends would help themselves to her lap, as long as they didn’t have a bony ass. There was a time when a friend of hers sat on her lap, and she wanted to kick them off because they didn’t have much of an ass. It wasn’t fun at that time, but the older people get the more meat they have on themselves.
”Good. I would offer you a sip of this but I don’t share…” she said as her lips found the rim of the cup again, sipping as she watched her friend.

Kitty matched the other girl's gesture, raising her own eyebrows and doing her best to maintain a solemn expression, though her countenance was not well adapted for it. "Well, that's mean..." she complained. Not seriously, of course; complaining was something which the blonde tried to avoid wherever it was possible since she had discovered through long experience that it never got one anywhere and just made everyone else miserable at the same time; a state of affairs which, so far as she was concerned, contained no real benefit for anyone at all. "Is it nice, though?" Probably a stupid question, of course. To Kitty's knowledge, the Hogwarts kitchens had never produced anything sub standard since she'd started there four years ago.

There was a low chuckle from Frankie as she held her cup near her face, the warmth of the hot chocolate soothing any foul mood she can possibly be in. Frankie gave her friend a wink as she moved to sip more of the hot chocolate and hummed when Kitty said it was mean. ”I never said I was nice, Kitty…” she teased and offered her the cup. Sharing is caring, right? Frankie wasn’t going to let Kitty call her mean after all.
”It is…” she said and cocked her head to the side with a tiny smile. "I'll make it up to you by going outside with you tomorrow."

"But you areeeeee..." Kitty insisted, and she would hear no argument on that subject. It was her firm opinion that all her friends were absolutely wonderful people, and no matter how much they might protest to the contrary, her opinion would remain unchanged. She took a sip of the drink, closing her eyes for a moment in sheer bliss at the delicious taste before handing it back. "See? That was nice!" She gave her roommate a grin, still wondering how she could get away with hugging the girl without causing any danger to the hot chocolate. "And that's great! We can go for a walk around the lake. It's so beautiful at this time of year."
Frankie couldn’t protest or argue with her friend because in her friend’s world, everyone had a heart of gold. Sure, people were such assholes (Sienna for example) and plain rude because apparently they can get away with it and have no respect but she never seen Kitty upset with people because of that fact over the time they knew each other. ”Oh, I know the lake is beautiful. I plan on taking Rose there sometime for a date…” she said with a smile. Okay, Frankie wasn’t really open about her relationship with the girl she liked because she didn’t want people to think she’s taking advantage of the second year girl.

The blonde grinned broadly. "You should!" she agreed. "It would be so sweet!" Kitty considered all her roommates to be collectively the best thing since sliced bread, and was more or less incapable of having a negative thought about any action that any one of them might choose to take, but even had that not been the case, she was firmly of the opinion that who you loved was entirely out of your control and as such should not be held against you. Besides, Rose was lovely, and so was Frankie, and so Kitty was entirely confident, as always, in predicting wonderful things for the pair of them. "Are you going to take a picnic?"
Frankie never had a relationship with a girl before (never really interested in dating until Rose came into the picture), and she was nervous about the possible dates she can take the girl on. Perhaps she should ask her friends for advice for some dates, not wanting to disappoint Rose at all. Rose was special to her and she didn’t want to ruin things for her. Were they dating? Yes. Were they judged by other students because of the class difference? Of course, but Frankie couldn’t help but fall for this girl. ”A nice little picnic. Maybe if they allow us back in Hogsmeade again, I’ll take her to the tea shop. But for now I’d like to settle for the small things. The dates I can do around campus…” she said and let out a low hum.

Kitty nodded rapidly. "It'll be so cute!" she assured the other girl enthusiastically, her mind already conjuring up such sweet images that she was in danger of passing out from hyperglycemia. "And the top of the Astronomy Tower might be nice, too- you get such a beautiful view of the stars, and it's so secluded..." The blonde didn't actually spend her leisure time in scoping out various areas of the castle for use as date locations, contrary to the beliefs of many, but she had the kind of mind that delighted in selecting them, and her inherent optimism meant that she could see the value in just about anything.
"Maybe not this month, though," she continued after some deliberation. "It gets really cold up there sometimes, and it's been really cloudy lately."
Frankie didn’t mind listening to Kitty giving her ideas of possible date locations, and she couldn’t help but smile when the Astronomy Tower was an amazing date area. The female now had the idea of taking Rose up there sometime, enjoy the view and maybe share something delicious to eat. The thought made her smile, made her think of how beautiful Rose was. Goddammit, now she was thinking about going to find that girl now. Frankie quickly snapped out of it, blinking a couple of times and looked at her friend on her lap.
