With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Peter had been pulling his own weight in working around the cabin, knowing that they’re actually staying and he decided to do some chores for his housemates. The male wanted to get a job like Dallas, but Artemis was against the idea of having him leave the cabin for a few hours at a time. It felt like he was in his own prison, but he knew the blonde was being protective over him. They all were, and he promised that he’d stay within ear shot just in case his blonde friend needed a hand with some stuff. It was his turn to chop some wood with the ax people didn’t entirely trust him with during the first couple of months but now he was trusted. Dallas was out doing his thing while Artemis napped in the bedroom. In several months, there will be a child crying its lungs out and Peter was actually looking forward to it. He had helped keep an eye on his younger siblings, even offered to watch them during the summer holidays when he wasn’t at Hogwarts. This was exciting, but he can sense that the mama to be was nervous. Not that he blamed her.
There were dangers all around them, and he was always on the look out even when he was only 50 yards from the cabin. They were safe there. The Young twins had made sure of that before they left to return to Hogwarts. After the incident with Apollo, Peter wanted to run and keep running but the others didn’t allow him to leave. They had told him that he was safe at the cabin, and it was true. No one had found them yet except for Apollo Fitzgerald but the male wasn’t going to talk. He wasn’t going to risk putting Artemis and the unborn fetus in danger. Peter would never forgive himself if something happened to his friends because of him, but they reassured him that they will be fine. They can handle themselves. There was no need to worry, right?
Peter had been outside in the cold working on getting more wood, and he knew he needed a break from it. He had heard the screen door shut a few yards away, and he had noticed that his girlfriend was moving toward him. ”Well, that’s a sight for sore eyes.” he said, putting the ax down gently and headed toward her.
Peace and quiet. Everyone went home and though it was an emotional goodbye they all knew it wasn't going to get better anytime soon. Sometimes they just had to pretend, be fake happy because that was all they could hang onto these days, fake smiles, fake feelings. The only true smiles, true feelings was when Mara was with Peter, she didn't feel like she had to stay strong and neither did he. One day they would go back to school, go back to have normal lives.
Mara walked out of the cabin to spend some time with said person and smiled a bit as she watched him man handle the trees. The brunette smiled and walked up to him more. "So are you, god your arms are getting so big.." she said and reached out to squeeze his bicep. "Very much a turn on." she said with a chuckled and leaned in to kiss him.
"Cutting wood for the fireplace?" she asked and eyed the pieces of wood.
There was a time in his life when he thought he was never going to get the girl of his dreams, that she was going to see other boys or girls. But being on the run with her for the past several months had made the tension between them come to light. Mara was his best friend for a long time before she became his girlfriend, and he was thankful for her every goddamn day ever since she found him with those Russian’s. She had saved his life, made sure he was safe and helped him through the trauma that the Russian’s inflicted onto him.
There was a smirk on his face as he looked at her when she reached to squeeze his bicep. ”Mhm.” he had kissed her back, his hands moving to her hips. ”Yep, and I’m almost done. Figured I let Dallas take a break from the wood chopping while he’s out doing what he does best.” he said and looked at her.
Mara used to have many crushes in school including Peter. It was just a girly thing to have crushes and never act on them because why in the name of god would they even like her? She was always in Ryker's shadow, everyone loved Ryker. She was the gorgeous sister who everyone wanted and Mara, well Mara was just there. Unloved, not wanted and ended up only crushing because that was all she could get. She didn't care back then much about it but after being turned she realized how alone she truly was.
Peter made those feelings go away and she loved him more and more with each passing day. The brunette smiled as she wrapped her arm around his and kissed him again. She just loved being close to him. "I now see why he does it, he totally does it for Artemis and the abs he grows with it." she teased and ran her fingers along Peter's abs. "These are mine though." she hummed. "Yeah she is sleeping, i think being pregnant makes he queen of nap time." Mara said with a chuckle.
Peter had one other girlfriend when he was at Hogwarts, but he didn’t truly love that girl because his heart had belonged to someone else. These days, Peter wished he had told Mara about his feelings when they were in school together. He had been afraid that she would laugh at him, turned him down and walk away with her friends. Today, he was thankful that she had seen him the way he saw her. He was head over heels for her, and even Parker knew this. She always made fun of him for it, and now they were a couple. His sister must be happy - that Peter had finally grew a pair and got his girl.
There was a grin on his face when she had commented on his abs, and he licked his lips. ”All yours, love. I can do more if you want ...” he teased knowing damn well that she might just jump him in these woods. ”Yeah, I think I can use the help to take all this back to the cabin. Cover them up so they don’t get wet.” he said and kissed her quickly.
Being in the woods with her boyfriend without the others around them felt so safe and yet also scary. She loved him and of course she feels safe with Peter but the safe feeling of being in the cabin almost became a luxury at some point. Mara was quite nervous outside of it these days, she ran into old professors and people who she used to care about and only her professor recognized her. She was getting better at disguises but it was just a way of survival.. something she felt like she didn't need to do since she lived with Dallas and Artemis.
The brunette grinned a bit as he tried to flex and shook her head. "Oh yes flex those muscles." she teased, her grin still on her face. With a hum she picked up some wood, covering it up a bit and nodded. "I got this." she said and held the pieces up. "Soon the cold will go away and we don't have to worry much about needing a fire." she told him as she headed for the cabin. "Did you write your siblings? The ministry now are actually inspecting our owls.. I am too scared of writing people any longer." she admitted.
"I was even thinking of writing professor O'Connor.. but now I don't know.."
Peter had leaned down to gather some of the wood he had chopped, following her with a smile. Finding Artemis and Dallas out here saved both his and Mara’s lives back when they stumbled upon the couple. Sure, Peter still had his moments of feeling that he was being watched and a little paranoid at times but he was getting used to his surroundings. He enjoyed the company they had and the moments they all shared. He was glad Mara and Artemis had found a friendship out of this, knowing that they all had differences and different friends at school. But having people who’d die for them was something Peter wasn’t used to having around.
The male had walked with his girlfriend back to the cabin, smiling a bit when she mentioned the Ministry was now inspecting owls at the school. It pissed him off, but he understood that they thought it was right. That they wanted to make sure there’s no more attacks. ”Well, I have written to them. Ariella mostly.” he said and placed the wood down where it belonged.
Mara turned her head a bit, the thought of when Dallas and Artemis took them in. The state they were in which was horrible. Mara remembered most of it. She didnt think this would be her life and suddenly she was a wild animal, hunted like the animal she was displayed to be. Mara let out a small sigh and just ran a hand through her hair before picking up all the wood and carrying it with her. Her eyes were on Peter as he told her he wrote his older sister. She wasn't surprised he did, she would have too but her bond with Ryker wasn't strong.
"How is she? Your sister?" she asked him kindly and walked the wood out of the woods. "Is she doing good? I haven't heard much except that she is quite firm as a professor." she admitted and bit her lip. She didn't think firm professors were a bad thing but she remembered Ariella striving to strike fear into people's hearts. Mara almost tripped over a stick and whined. "Ow.." she then sighed. "I don't know if I should or whether he would even care about hearing from me. As a kid I felt safe to go to him with my troubles but now.. I just don't."
Peter wasn’t one to go against what Mara thought was best because truth be told, they were not entirely safe out there. But if she wanted to write to their former professor, he wouldn’t stop her. In fact, he’d encourage her to do what she wanted to do. Was he afraid that they could be caught? Sure. But that was the least of his worries. They had been safe in the forest because of the spells the Young twins had cast before they had left to go back to school. It saddened him that they’re gone, but they’d see them again eventually.
Peter’s arm had flew out to try to catch his girlfriend from falling onto the ground and he had let out a low chuckle. ”To answer your question, Ari is fine. Engaged to her boyfriend.” he said and looked at her with a tiny smile. ”But hey, do what you want. Write to him. Don’t. It’s up to you really.”
Mara might be too paranoid at times but all in all she was just afraid of the problems she could get into. What if she is the reason Peter gets back into trouble as well? what if she is the reason they need to flee because she was scared and wanted to write the professor who always seemed to make her feel better when she was in trouble back at Hogwarts? The brunette tried to collect all the wood she dropped and let out a small happy sigh when Peter spoke. She knew he supported her no matter what she decided.
"Engaged? wow.. guess people are being caught up in wedding fever huh?" she asked with a slight smile as she headed for the cabin again. "I think we'll be attending a lot of weddings when summer comes along. I am sure Artemis wants to marry as soon as possible before her belly is bigger than her own skinny frame." she teased and looked at Peter. "You'll dance with me though right?" she asked him and thought about them dancing at weddings, not caring about the others.
Peter had no idea if he’d be able to attend his sister's wedding because of the fact that he was a werewolf in hiding. And Ariella marrying an Auror was troublesome but he trusted that the both of them wouldn’t betray his trust if he showed up. He knew Donovan would listen to his woman before going into the work headspace. But he was afraid that he’d get caught because he knew Donovan had friends in the Auror office that would likely attend the wedding. One word that there’s two werewolves attending would end in disaster and Peter either arrested or dead.It worried him.
”Yep, I was surprised that she told me of all people. But I’m happy for her, you know? Maybe we get to attend, a gift to my sister. But what I’m worried about is the fact that she’s marrying an Auror. Do I trust him?” he questioned with a sigh and eyed his girlfriend. ”I’ll dance with you all the time, babe. With or without music.”
Mara honestly didn't think weddings were that big of a problem but then they were on the run and the ministry could not be trusted. The two of them reached the cabin and Mara put the wood in the shed with the others. She wondered if they could attend weddings, what if she couldn't attend Ryker's? Or Elijah's one day? Sadness had overcome her and it was that realization that her life had been ruined by this curse she was given. The curse to become a monster. The brunette turned to her boyfriend with a smile.
"Why would she marry an auror if he couldn't be trusted?" she asked Peter and turned to stroke his cheek with her hand. "I think he is a good guy for her, otherwise why would she put you in risk by marrying him in the first place?" she didn't think Ariella was that evil. "Oh really? would you dance with me right now?" she asked him and reached for his hands. "Right here, in the cold?" she didn't mind, she actually would dance with him here if he wanted to.
”I doubt she thought of me in the moment she said yes to the man…” Peter said as he leaned down to put the wood where they belonged. He wanted to make sure the pile didn’t fall over and make a mess of things. He had grabbed a tarp and placed it over the wood, humming a bit as he finished up and looked at her when he felt her hand on his cheek. The ex-Slytherin leaned into the touch, moving his lips to kiss her hand. He loved her and would do anything for this girl. Even before they started dating, he’d save her from people at school.
Peter grinned and nodded as he took his hands into his, pulling her close. ”Oh yes. And I’ll keep you warm…” he said, kissing her softly and swayed a bit. ”I know how to dance…”
Mara wouldn't mind dancing in a beautiful dress one day, maybe in Egypt where it was nice and warm with colorful flowers. Sure she planned her own wedding a million times but didn't every girl do something like that? Heck Dallas and Artemis were going to get married and they were so young. Times like these made people rush things they shouldn't have out of mere fear to lose each other. The brunette ran a hand through her hair before being pulled into Peter's arms. She loved how romantic he was, he always seemed to find time for romance even when she didn't.
Mara happily kissed him back with a smile on her face, he did feel very warm. "You are very warm.." she said enjoying him being close to herself. The girl swayed along with him. "So do I sir.." she said with a grin and kissed him again.
A year ago, Peter had never seen himself standing on a porch at a cabin somewhere in Ireland. A year ago he believed he was one of the most popular guys at Hogwarts. But over the past summer, everything changed for him and his life went to utter hell. But then Mara saved him, helped him through the trauma he has been through because of the stuff he was forced to do. She was patient with him, made sure he didn’t wolf out entirely and hurt someone else. Peter felt safe when he was around her, and his love for her grew each day. He never thought he’d get the girl, but yet there she was, in his arms.
When Mara kissed him again, he kissed her back, smiling into it. ”You think we’ll wake mama bear if...we go inside and ...well…” he started and hummed. He was a teenage boy after all.
