With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Casey didn't mind the lesson of the day, knowing damn well that werewolves were becoming an issue in today's world. No, don't get her wrong. She wasn't against them, but the law was. She was one to keep up with the latest laws, reading what the wizarding government wanted for them. Sometimes it made her sick to her stomach. Sometimes she wanted to write to her brother, the Auror and ask him why did he choose highly demanding job. She worried that maybe one day he'd never return home due to the job. That would be her worse nightmare.
She had been writing down little notes about the subject, always prepared to get good grades for exams. She wasn't going to fool around anymore. "Question is, if they're kept with the parents, and the parents turn. Do the parents eat their young? That's saying if they don't have wolfsbane."[/b] she said, not taking her eyes off the parchment.
Okay, maybe she's wrong to ask that question. But facts are facts.
maybe it is all a test/'cause i feel like i'm the worst, so i always act like i'm the best

Okay, she didn't know the answer to all those questions. Mia-Rose had been proud to know more about werewolves than her classmates, but she had to admit that knowledge was about as far as she got. It wasn't like she actually knew any wolf babies. But she wasn't about to sound like the rest of them, asking questions that they really should just be able to figure out the answer to. She turned to Mark, her fellow Slytherin, who she actually did enjoy talking to. As expected, his question was far more interesting than the others'.
"It'd be cool, wouldn't it, having a werewolf pup?" she said. "But then you have to live with the fact that its parents are out there." She wrinkled her nose at that. Mia-Rose, who did not like the idea of having children in the first place, felt that she would rather own pets whose parents couldn't talk to her. Although, given the chance, she would love to talk to animals. She just didn't think that werewolves quite counted in that category--in her experience, they would be very offended to hear that. And Parselmouths, those who had the privilege of talking to at least one kind of beast, were supposed to have died out anyway. Ah, well, she could still keep up speaking to them in English. It had worked well enough for her so far.

This was not the subject that Parker wanted to discuss but they gotta learn about werewolves one day, right? The thought of her brother being one of them was troubling enough, and even though she didn't talk about it, some people already knew. The moment her friend had taken her hand, she had squeezed it softly as her eyes remained on the table, really wanting this class to end already. She needed to stay strong, and not break in a class full of students. The female had set her jaw, leaning back and just kept her eyes ahead, ignoring everyone around her.
She was doing what Olivia had told her to do, ignore people.
While in class Jedrek watched what was going down and had to admit this was going to be an insane class from what he was seeing. In all honestly he didn't mind when it came down to it as long as he didn't get in trouble. Jed didn't like getting in trouble when it came to class, now if it was outside class or something along the lines of that then he wouldn't care because he would be having fun, but class time was learning time and he didn't want to fall behind or fall. Two things that he despised a lot. Jedrek simply shook his head.
The first of his students to answer his question regarding werewolves and reproduction was Liam Jordan and... in all honesty, Jack wasn't sure what he expected. But he certainly hadn't expected the boy to come out with something like that. "Uh..." was all he managed to get out in response, before Mia-Rose came to his rescue. Jack turned his gaze on her, inwardly thanking Merlin that he didn't have to reply to Liam's question about werewolves doing it doggy style. "Thank you, Miss Linwood. Correct. Ten points to Slytherin."
Before he could extend on Mia-Rose's statement, he was posed with a rather curious question by Damien, followed up by Mariah and then Casey. "Those are all very good points. Ten points for Hufflepuff for your curiousity, Mr Cartwright and Miss Galloway, and five for Ravenclaw, Miss Stevens. Now, to answer all of you... there has only ever been two recorded events of werewolves mating at the full moon. Like Miss Linwood said, this resulted in packs of werewolf cubs," Jack said, nodding.
"Some of these werewolf cubs, as some of you may have heard, live in a pack in the Forbidden Forest. This is something Headmaster Dumbledore very kindly allowed during his time at Hogwarts, and Headmistress McGonagall has continued to allow," Jack said. "Now... as technically the wolves are a different species to their werewolf parents, they are typically raised away from them. This isn't because the parents don't love them, but because it's in the wolves best interest to grow up in an environment when they can hunt their food, live freely... things they cannot do if they were raised out in the human world. They are intelligent creatures and it isn't fair to place them in an environment where they cannot flourish."
"Now, Miss Stevens has brought up a good point... what would happen if they were kept with the parents? Quite frankly, we don't know because this has never happened. I can only hypothesise that if said parents were of sound mind and had the appropriate resources, that they would take the precautions to keep their cubs safe during the full moon. They might hide their cubs away, or lock themselves in a transformation habitat, or both," Jack suggested, fingers reaching up to stroke his chin in thought as he spoke. It was certainly an interesting thing to discuss.
"Now, one last question before the bell rings for your next class. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between regular wolves and werewolves?" Jack asked, leaning back against his desk as his eyes swept over his class once more. They had covered just about everything except for the history of werewolves, however that was likely to be something covered in History of Magic. He'd have to double check, of course, but he didn't want to step on any toes just in case.

'I think he's right handed' - the words immediately had Aggy sending Evan a questioning look, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "Know something I don't, Wood? Have you been sneaking into the fourth year dorms without me? Because golly gosh, I'd hate to have missed out on clothes strewn everywhere, the stench of B.O... I'm heart broken," she said, murmuring as the chaos between Skylar, Dio and Professor O'Connor broke out. Ah well, at least it provided her with a chance to talk. "Greyback'll skin and eat that kid alive. Like father, like son."
The subject of werewolf reproductive habits was brought up and for that, Aggy mostly stayed quiet. The others answered, and she didn't have anything to tack on for once... but then Liam so innocently asked about werewolves doing it 'doggy styles' and despite herself, Aggy let out a loud snort of amusement before clapping her hand over her mouth. She'd have to ask him later if he was interested in that. Payback for him calling her Irish all the bloody time.
Ari had definitely found her classmates responses to this lesson interesting and she knew that some of her classmates were not too fond of werewolves, and she had been looking forward for the class to end, and when the lesson's end had been nearing. She had definitely felt bad that the cubs were kept away from their families, but I suppose it could be much more dangerous if they were to live with them.
When Professor O'Connor had asked them the final question, the witch thought she would chime in. "The difference is that werewolves have a shorter snout and there eyes are more human like. But the ultimate difference is that an average wolf are not as aggressive as werewolves, but stories are often regarded as being predators. But a wolf is not likely to attack a wizard." she said with a smile.

Sitting at the back of the classroom, Alex precariously balanced a quill between his fingertips, trying his best to seem like he was paying attention when, really, he hadn't been since the beginning of the class when there had too much debating, too much arguing that Alex didn't want to get involved in. Getting involved meant eyes on him, and that was the last thing he wanted. He just wanted to fade in with the crowd instead.
'Thank Merlin,' Alex thought to himself as he heard Professor O'Connor announce he had one last question. That meant the bell would ring soon, and they would be free to go for the rest of the day. Alex planned on heading straight to his dorms, drawing the curtains closed, and sleeping the rest of the day. Maybe he'd have enough energy to get up for supper, but that remained to be seen.
