With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
It felt good to no longer be out on the streets looking for a place to sleep. Margaret was now a member of the Cotswold Pack. It was getting tiring being hated just because Margie and her sister were now werewolves. It reminded Margie when she was in school and some students would be cruel to her just because she's muggleborn.
After she was bitten her parents kicked the twins out of the house because they were scared, and were also still reeling from the death of their youngest Colleen. Margie's self esteem, which was sometimes low in school from being picked on by students that hated her blood status, was somewhat better now. Being in a pack definitely helped since she no longer felt alone. Margie was still disgusted with the way the Ministry was treating werewolves too. Never in a million years would Margaret have thought she'd end up one, but she was.
The air was getting colder and Teddy could swear that when he rolled out of his bed he could see his breath in it. "Of course," the young man groaned to himself. On top of everything else that the wolves would have to endure it would be a bitterly cold winter ahead as well. The metamorphmagus pulled on a thick woolen jumper and walked across his tent to where there was an old mirror hanging from a pole. "I... don't have to shave today," he decided, rubbing his prickly chin. He wasn't going to see Scarlett today and he had no official meetings booked with either the staff at St Mungo's or the Ministry. Today was just for him.
The moment Teddy stepped out of the tent, a few ankle-biters crowded around him. "Good morning, little cubs," the young man chuckled, ruffling their wild hair as he walked further into camp. He could smell the unmistakable scent of "Aunty" Diana's porridge wafting through the camp and there was no doubting the guttural sound that literally screamed feed me!
On his way towards the kitchen area under the ancient oak trees, Teddy caught sight of his school friend. "Margaret! Good morning," he called out to her with a wave. "Care to join me for some porridge? It's the best in the British Isles, I promise you," within a few strides he was already by her side, arm offered out to her so that he could lead her arm-in-arm. "How is your sister? Are you liking the camp so far?"
Margaret adjusted the heavy sweater she was wearing a bit so it hugged her frame better. No matter how many layers of clothing she put on the cold just seemed to seep through. Being in a pack was nice but sleeping in tents as winter approached wasn't really her idea of fun. Hopefully she'd get used to it after awhile and maybe she just needed to keep piling heaps of blankets in the tent she shared with her twin and wearing heavy sweaters in the meantime.
Just as her nose caught the sent of porridge cooking in the kitchen area Margie saw her school friend and pack mate Teddy approaching. "Porridge sounds good. I sure could use some. Could it get anymore colder?" she asked, as the blonde werewolf got to her feet and took Teddy's arm. "My sister and I are doing ok. The camp is great. Thanks for asking."
Teddy let out a warm chuckle as Margaret said she could use some porridge. "Merlin, I know. Don't worry, the dining tent will keep you warm - Diana always keeps the place warm and inviting," Teddy said fondly. Inside were many enchanted heaters that kept the pack comfortable because the dining tent was a large, communal place because it was important that the pack members spent time being social. "Do you need any extra warmth in your tent? We can bring in another charmed heater... because I know how cold it gets of a night. I'll admit, I have one."
When Margert placed her arm in his, he held it close to him so that there was warmth transferred between the two of them. "I'm glad that you're both doing good. The camp is growing a bit faster than I'd like, if I can be completely honest with an old school friend. I wouldn't wish lycanthropy on my worst enemy... not for the change at the full moon, but even more because of our living conditions," Teddy sighed heavily as he opened the flap of the dining tent for both him and Margie. "Even if Diana's porridge is to die for," Teddy said with a bit of a grin as he waved to the cook at the other side of the tent.
Margie thought for a minute as Teddy asked if she needed extra warmth in her tent. "Sure, another heater would be nice." she replied. Cold was certainly an understatement. It was difficult staying warm when she wasn't in her wolf form. At least then her own fur might keep her warm at night. Besides with how cold it was she couldn't say no to the extra warmth.
Margaret smiled when she felt the warmth pass between them as Teddy held her arm close to his. Margie listened as Teddy said he wouldn't wish lycanthropy on his worst enemy. "I wouldn't either." It was easy to be depressed since their living conditions weren't ideal. At least she had her old friend from school to help her get through the winter. Margaret giggled a little as he added the part about Diana's porridge being to die for. "I can't wait to try it."
