With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Cassidy was quite the person who wanted to spend time with her friends for the holidays because she only had a few of them and she wanted to hold them close to her heart. The blonde would see her mother soon but now she wanted to spend some time with Casey before she would go back to hanging out with her girlfriend. Cassidy was happy for Casey, she finally did what her heart wanted her to do and here she was dating the girl she loved for a long time.
The girl had a sweater she made Casey wrapped in paper for her friend and just waited in the common room for her best friend to wake up and come down. Cassidy also got Archie a gift which was waiting for him under the tree as much as Casey's was. The blonde was lying on the couch, her head buried in a pillow as she thought about the dance. How scary it was, how she hasn't heard of her new friend in a while after they had dance practice together.
She wondered if he had a good Christmas as well and just lied there waiting.
Casey had fallen asleep a bit late the night before because of many reasons. Maybe it was the certain Ravenclaw beater she had been hanging out with a lot lately. She was thankful that her friends understood that she was now in a relationship with the girl she...loved. It was weird to even think about it but she had told Mavican that she loved her after their game against Gryffindor. It didn’t matter of the outcome, they played their best. She had been wanting to say it since that morning before the game but she was too afraid that’ll it will distract Mavican so she waited until after.
Casey had found herself lying in her bunk, her arm tucked behind her head after she had woken up. Her heart was pounding in her chest after the latest nightmare, and there were fresh tears in her eyes. The female had been trying to calm her nerves for the past fifteen minutes - and after she relaxed a bit, she had gotten out of bed, putting on her bunny slippers. It had taken her a few minutes to notice that Cassidy wasn’t in her bed, and she wanted to find her best friend. She knew she was still terrified about what happened at the ball.
Casey had walked down the stairs of the dorms, her hair sticking up in all sorts of directions but she didn’t care.
She had let out a small hum when she noticed her friend on the couch, and limped her way toward her. She leaned over the arm, placing a kiss on Cassidy’s head with a grin. ”There you are.”
The blonde girl waited for her friend, she could've waited in bed but she liked to sit with the fireplace and that's what she did. The ball was a disaster and it was very much terrifying to deal with. Her friend disappeared and she did too, the mass and the amount of people too much for her to handle. Cassidy ran a hand through her hair and cocked her head to the side when she heard footsteps.
She watched Casey limp up to her and giggled when she kissed her head. "Yes I am." she said and held out the package. "I got you a present." she said as she kept holding the present out. Cassidy turned to Casey and shivered a bit. "I hoped the fire would warm me up, maybe I should've brought my blankets after all." she added and looked at her friend.
Casey had smiled a bit as she sat on the couch, beside her friend and she eyed her when she was handed the box. They had been friends ever since they were younger, and Casey had always watched Cassidy’s back whenever she was doing a native kid. Last thing Casey needed was for her best friend to get hurt, and she wasn’t going to let people take advantage of her. Sure, Casey was tiny but she wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty (look at her siblings). She had gotten herself into trouble a few times, only to lose house points by a professor prefect. Whatever, shit happens.
”You didn’t have to get me anything, Cassidy. You know that.” she said and gave her a tiny smile. She had taken the box as soon as she got comfortable, and smiled a bit. She started to open it, and looked at her. ”You could have crawled into my bed. I wouldn’t have minded at all” she said with a chuckle.
Honestly Cassidy just wanted a peaceful day. She didn't have many friends because she was just too shy to talk to most people in the first place but her and Casey had been friends since they were little kids. Casey was there for her after things went downhill hard for her family and Casey was here now, opening the present Cassidy made her because it wasn't a secret that she was shit poor and made her own clothes to save money.
"I hope you like it." she said and bit her lip as she looked at her friend. "Of course I do, it's Christmas." she said with a smile and poked her side. "Everyone deserves presents." she said hugged a pillow she picked up from the floor.
"Oh I know but the fire was nice and warm so instead of scaring you and crawling into your bed, I went to sit with the warm fire." she said and bit her lip. "That's good, you should try it on." she said and nodded at the sweater. "You should come to dinner with my mom tonight."
Casey had been stressed about the whole Christmas ordeal with her own father, and wondered if he was going to stir up trouble with her family while she decided not to come home. They understand as to why she decided to stay at the castle, and of course her mother trusted Cassidy’s mother to look out for her as always. It was like having a second mom, and she loved Cassidy’s mother, sometimes would find herself staying after class to help her with some things because she knew being a professor was hard. Sometimes she wondered how some of her professors can deal with the children who were nothing but trouble.
Once Casey had opened the present from Cassidy, she smiled and pulled out the sweater. Another one to her collection, and she would wear this with pride as she always does. She wasn’t one to be rude, and toss the gift aside. ”I love it…” she said, and looked around her for a moment when Cassidy told her she should try it on. She hummed in agreement, and quickly took off her night shirt before putting the sweater on. She had no shame in stripping in front of others, she had learned to be comfortable with her body.
She glanced at her friend as she adjusted the sweater, and grinned. ”Fits perfectly. I shall wear it with pride.” she winked and eyed her as she was invited to dinner. ”I would love that. You don’t think she’d mind?”
Cassidy wanted Casey to enjoy the gift she made her. Some people didn't like handmade presents but Cassidy was actually proud of the clothes she made, the clothes she had made herself for a long time. They weren't rich people even when her uncle tried to help financially as much as he could, she knew they weren't the richest people around town. Still she would do whatever she could.
"I'm so glad you like it!" she said and gave Casey a hug, the sweater looked great on her. "I am so happy it fits, I have been using measurements of one of your sweaters and made it a little bigger just in case." she admitted with a blush to her cheeks. "I don't think she'd mind at all, mum adores you." She said and smiled a bit more.
"Do you want cookies? I found cookies on the table I think the elves made them."
Casey had ran a hand over her sweater to smooth it out, and she had smiled a bit more when her friend explained that she had used one of her other sweaters as measurements - something Casey didn’t mind at all. Beside her own robes during the school days, she would often wear her hoodies and sweatpants whenever there’s no classes. Sure, she owned a few pairs of jeans but that was for going out and well, they had been holding the Hogwarts students hostage after what had happened a couple of months back. Sometimes she wished she can take Mavican out on a date in the village, but nope. Perhaps she should write to her brother to see if he knew anything about a lift.
”My mom is sending my gifts to me soon. Right now she’s dealing with my dad and stuff. And one of your gifts is upstairs in my trunk if you want it right now.” she offered as she eyed her best friend with a sweet smile. Yes, she was from a family with money and enjoyed buying things for her friends.
Casey looked toward the table in question, making her smile and nodded. ”Oh, yes! Are those sugar cookies?” she asked as she headed toward the table with a grin, taking one off the plate.
