With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
It was the third day of September and the second day that all of the students got to 'enjoy' breakfast together... however, Aggy was not enjoying her breakfast at all thanks to fantastic pair of first years arguing about what the best spread for your toast was.
Shooting them a glare, Aggy was just about to open her mouth and give them a piece of her mind when she noticed a familiar figure passing by. After raising two fingers to her eyes, then jabbing said fingers towards the first years in an 'I'm watching you,' gesture, Aggy stood up and made her way over to the Ravenclaw table where she didn't hesitate in making herself comfortable.
"Aren't you just utterly delighted to be back for another magnificent term at Hogwarts, Alexander?" she asked, sarcasm lacing the chirpy voice she put on. Reaching over, Aggy poured herself a bowl of cereal before taking a loud, crunchy bite. "I personally can't wait."
Alexander was already exhausted for the year ahead, and it had only been a day of classes. It seemed like fifth year was going to be the hardest year yet, leading up to OWLs. There had been quite a few speeches about how hard this year would be and to complete all homework or FAIL which wasn't giving him a too positive outlook on the year ahead. He rolled his eyes at one of his roommates as they passed through the Great Hall doors, lagging behind a little as he stared up at the cloudy sky above. The hall was a little louder than he thought was necessary, but it was the second breakfast that people had to catch up. All the younger grades were all excited to be back or to be here for the first time. The older students didn't seem as elated, but they indeed weren't glum.
He fixed his eyes on the buttery toast as he neared his seat, his mouth watering at the prospect of greasy egg and toast. He gave a half-hearted smile to a first-year who looked up at him with adoration. His badge on his robes proclaimed him to be a prefect, and he had been up late last night reassuring all those kids that were still nervous about being in a big strange castle without their family. He felt bad for them, but he also felt terrible for himself. He snorted to himself as he thought of the seventh years who had straight out told them to look after the littlies themselves, that they wanted to be able to sleep. Therefore, he found himself quite petulant and grumpy, totally unprepared for the morning ahead.
With the bench shifting as another person sat down, Alexander looked over to see Aggy. "Ah yes. Another term of stress and essays. As a Ravenclaw, obviously, I am so excited to have my new prefect duties and school work cut into my sleeping time." He grouched, with no real enthusiasm. He finally reached over and grabbed the toast and eggs that he'd been eyeing up, then gave her a shrug. "How was your day yesterday? Do anything fun in the afternoon?"
"Prefect duties, hey? Well, let us all be blessed that fifteen years old are telling everyone what to do," Aggy said, sarcasm wrapping around her words as she snorted. It was... kind of really stupid really that they were expected to listen to someone just because they had a badge. What did a piece of metal do really? Nothing. She wasn't scared of the prefects, nor was she scared of the professors. It wouldn't stop her from living her life as she wanted to.
"My day was splendid. I had the pleasure of going to classes and listening to all my favourite profossors drone on... I wanted to avada kedavra myself in Astronomy but sadly, it's against the rules. Something about scarring the children or something," Aggy said, more so amusing herself as she spoke. Taking another spoonful of her cereal, she looked at Alexander with raised brows. "Well, you gonna leave me on the edge of my seat or tell me what exciting things you got up to?"
