With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

As Grace stepped into the Great Hall, her leafy hand clutching Aiden's free one, she immediately froze because oh... oh dear, had her costume been a mistake? After all, she was standing in a forest green body suit, a flower pot around her waist and an actual paper sunflower haloing her face... and... everyone else looked so... fancy.
Turning to Aiden, Grace nibbled her bottom lip. "They... that... I'm sorry. Should we have gone as something more... grown-up?" she asked, eyes darting every which way. Would Aiden have preferred her in a tiny princess costume, like Sophie was wearing? Or... or as Marie Antoinette like that Durmstrang girl was wearing? Instead of a costume most likely designed for a child? "Perhaps I should take this off."
It was only after she fully registered what she was saying before she backtracked, eyes widening, "No, like... like... fully - I mean, not in the Great Hall. I don't want to be naked in front of..." Them. "Not that I want to be - unless you want to..." Did he want to? She wasn't sure actually. Since the end of school, when they'd kissed by the lake at Aiden's makeshift picnic... something so romantic it still made her swoon... they'd just stuck to kissing. Something that Grace was fine with, even though sometimes... she wondered if... what it would be like to... cheeks turning pink, Grace cleared her throat delicately before letting out a nervous laugh, reaching up to play with the hair that rested over her shoulder. "You look - I know I've told you already, but you look good. I think... I think that outfit suits you, even if you'd never ever want to be... er, in that profession."

ealising, albeit somewhat belatedly, that the boy was less than impressed by her reaction, Evie did her best to pull it back, but she'd never been very well adapted to saying reassuring and comforting things, though she did her best for her sisters on the very rare occasions that they actually confessed to being in need of it. "No, really, Hugo, you look great. Really... Really imaginative, y'know?" She brightened suddenly as the best idea ever occurred to her. "Hey, and is there anyone here you fancy? Because..." She was giggling again, taking deep breaths in an attempt to keep it under control but failing radically. "Because, with you dressed like that, they'll... they'll..." Oh, this was going to be good, and she just hoped that Sally was going to appreciate it as much as she did, because if not, she was really going to have to see about getting some new friends... "They'll all be hitting on you!" Grinning triumphantly, the redhead turned to the Hufflepuff girl, arm extended for a high five.
"Sheep herding? What, in white?" She grinned. "You have got to be joking. The two of you should come and stay some time, and if you do, do not wear white. Under any circumstances. Or cream. Or anything not washable." The redhead sighed. "It's a jockey. Y'know, like with horses?"

olly blinked, more than a little surprised, as a familiar face suddenly emerged from the crowds right in front of her. If they hadn't all had to give their wands in, she would have suspected the use of magic; as it was, she supposed she would just have to put it down to her own lack of observational skills. All things considered, it was probably a good thing that she had no plans of becoming an Auror in later life; she was fairly sure that the Ministry were quite keen on the idea of Aurors who could actually see what was right in front of them without having it pointed out. There was no accounting for taste.
"This is child friendly," she objected. "You can't see anything you shouldn't, can you?" In any case, Molly took the view that a devil was a very appropriate costume considering some of the people that she was sharing this Hall with; perhaps they ought to be getting accustomed to the sight.
Izzy was of course teasing when she told Molly that she thought the costumes were supposed to kid friendly but she had no idea that it might had backfired a bit. Izzy was clumsy like that, spitting words out before even thinking if they would arrive well on the other end. Nonetheless she smiled and shook her head. "I was teasing gorgeous, relax." She said with a wink and looked her costume over, no shame as she did so. The redhead was absolutely breathtaking and the costume being a devil was actually quite surprising.
"You look amazing," she added and spun around herself. "What do you think? Can I invade this dance to get a dance out of you?" she asked with a smirk and held her hand out.
Wolfgang's quiet idleness was interrupted by someone approaching him. He didn't recognize the voice, or the face, at first, but after a few moments it clicked. It was one of the Durmstrang students, Elias, was it? His costume was... Garish, and yet by some sheer miracle he didn't look like a poor clown that was left behind by his circus.
"Good evening. This would be 1860'ies, Victorian period. Middle class dress. As for you, it is quite impressive how good you look in such attire. My name is Wolfgang, and you're... Elias, unless I am mistaken, in which case, my apologies." He reached his hand out for a handshake. He'd stopped fearing the Durmstrangians and had actually started to enjoy the company of a few of them, and the one standing in front of him wasn't so bad to look at. Perhaps, if Isobel would be so inclined... But perhaps it was too early in the evening to make such plans.
He didn't get much further than that, as another schoolmate approached them. This was a Hufflepuff, Sophie Dunstable. Why did Wolfgang care to know her full name? Because she was in the same dorm as Grace Longbottom, and Wolfgang would rather eat an entire jar of frogs than to flirt with anyone that close to Longbottom. Even if the only thing those two would share is a bedroom.
Her outfit was utterly childish. He recognized it from a cartoon he'd seen a long time ago, and he was not impressed. "And I see you're living a fantasy?" That was all he answered. Would she take offense or think he's flirting? Wolfgang wasn't bothered enough to care.
"Ah, Vinda," he greeted his friend with a nod, "You look absolutely angelic." In truth, Vinda was about as angelic as Koivu, the Finn Wolfgang been casually screwing whenever the two of them were alone in their dorm. They might have looked angelic, blonde hair, pale faces, but when they opened their mouths...
A red eyesore? What was she talking about? Wolfgang quickly cast a glance around-- Ah, there it was. "Kareva has done herself a terrible disservice by dying her hair brown. I do hope it is a temporary thing, otherwise such beauty is going to waste because of bad choices." He closed his eyes for a moment, reminiscing about a certain afternoon in the communal common room about 6 months prior. Truly, a terrible disservice.
His eyebrows shot up for a moment as he watched Vinda get close to Elias, too close, in fact. Especially when Willy Wagtail was right there, on the stage. It made him curious as to what actually had happened between Vinda and her...What were they, exactly? Friends? He didn't know. But he knew full well that this was not the place to speak of it.

This was the worst idea ever, he thought, because not only was Eveline Linwood making terrible, terrible puns about his outfit, ones that had her and Sally highfiving each other, she was also talking about Hugo liking someone. Which he totally didn't.
"Pfft," he snorted at the pun, crossing his arms and trying not to stare at Sally, "I don't fancy anyone, fancying people is...Stupid. Like, I don't know if you noticed at all last year but my brother Rodrik, over there, dressed like a... What is he even dressed as? Those goggles look," cool actually, I'd rather be wearing that, "Stupid as hell. He got all weird over a girl, constantly sulking around and looking like he's gotten an earwax flavored Bertie's Bean. Nah, fancying people isn't for me."
"A jockey? I've never heard of that word before...What does it have to do with horses? And wouldn't wearing white while riding a horse be a bad idea too? I haven't actually ever ridden a horse, so I don't know...Do you have horses, Evie?"

"Now, now, girls, there is no need to fight over this, both names are great, " he spoke, giggling at the enthusiasm with which Izzy was insisting that his name would be Princess Sparkle Butt. In his opinion it didn't quite have the ring to it, not as Vivi's suggestion of Divi, which he thought was brilliant. Before he could continue, though, Izzy had already disappeared into the crowd, eagerly looking for her date. It was cute, really, that she'd already found a girl she liked. Augusts' hoped the two would have a good time.
"But I have to agree with you, Vivi, Divi sounds just perfect. Simple, to the point, and a little dramatic. And thank you for the compliment, and for the dress, and, for everything really." he continued once their friend had gone away, "Do I have sparkles on my butt, though? Not that I don't like that, I just can't really check."
"Ah, there is Stan. He's got a date too! She's pretty, don't you think?" he remarked, waving at his friend, who was dressed all fancy and formal, in a war parade uniform of a monarchy of some sorts, and a girl in a blazing red dress was holding his hand. "Do you have a date, Vivi?"
Augusts wasn't one to tie himself down to one person, he didn't have any interest in that, not at the moment, but as he looked around the room he kept trying to find a certain blonde head of hair. Had Kalevi Koivu come to the ball? He wondered what would the older boy think of his get up. Would he like it?

dancing in the smoke
As they crossed the doorway into the hall, Lyuba stepped carefully, the bottom of the dress heavier than it had been before she'd applied the charmed substance. Stan seemed to have gained several levels of formality the moment they entered, and while Lyuba had to admit he was rather handsome with his chest puffed out like that, it wasn't exactly something she had practiced like the dance. She shifted her shoulders back, straightening her spine like a soldier, holding tight to Stan's arm even as she scanned the room for her own friends. Never would she be like that... but that didn't mean she couldn't awe the crowd in some way.
"Maybe you should introduce me to them," she said, following Stan's gaze over to a group of Durmstrang students. She didn't know any of their names, which meant they had to be from the other school--otherwise she'd definitely have met them before. What to expect from them, she didn't know--but if Stan had been able to look past the creature thing, surely she would be able to impress them as well.
The sound of something slamming against the ground made Lyuba jump slightly, and she turned around almost too fast, remembering too late that she needed to move more carefully for now, but the dress remained unlit. She didn't see whatever it was that had fallen over, but she did see Rodrik and Zoë, and she gave them a small wave. "A couple of my friends are over there, but I can dance with them after the performance." Most of her friends were probably scattered across the room, but she had all night--that was, if she didn't get removed from the dance for the stunt she wanted to pull. But it was a costume--a good costume!--and maybe sharing the night with Stan would be exciting.
