With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
It was a Friday afternoon and finally, Jack had some time off now that classes were done. Of course, marking said assignments was calling his name once he returned to his quarters for the evening... but for now, they could be put on hold. He was overdue for a catch up with Cho - it had been far too long since he'd seen her, given they both worked hectic schedules at the best of times - but today, they both so happened to have an allocated space in the afternoon free and agreed to meet.
Sitting in the tearoom, Jack cupped his mug of coffee between his hands as he patiently waited for the healer to arrive. She was due at any moment now, assuming she hadn't gotten caught up with a patient but even if she had... he was happy to wait anyhow.

here had been a time when Cho had been quite capable of turning up to an engagement on time, whether that was coffee with a friend or an evening with a good looking man. Unfortunately, that time had been quite a while ago, now; probably before she had qualified as a Healer and certainly before she had taken over in charge of the Dai Llewellyn Ward. It was apparently impossible for her to leave the room without being stopped and questioned on a hundred and one different things, only three of which were even slightly relevant to her and only one of which was actually her responsibility, so that by the time she was out in the corridor, she was already considerably behind schedule. Of course, she rushed as best as she could, but it was still a good five minutes behind the time that she ought to have been there as she stepped in through the door of the tearoom and, spotting Jack, offered him an apologetic smile while she hurried over to take her seat. "So sorry... What am I like?"

It was only five minutes past when Cho was due to arrive when the dark-haired woman showed up, all apologies and Jack waved her off. "It's fine. It's not like you're an hour late, Cho. A couple of minutes to wait is nothing," he reassured her, a warm smile gracing his lips. Even if she were half an hour late, he would have still been sitting there waiting for her. "If it were two hours, that would have been pushing it, but I think I could have found it in my heart to forgive you for getting caught up in your life-saving work." There was a twinkle in his eye as he spoke, signalling that he was clearly only joking, though he had the utmost respect for healers. They played an important part in the society.
As Cho asked what she was like, Jack wasn't quite sure what she meant, before nevertheless he shrugged lightly. "Wonderful as usual, I'm guessing," he answered with a small chuckle. "How are things? Or perhaps, more importantly, how are you, Cho?"

hat's so very generous of you, Jack," Cho returned wryly with a roll of her eyes that was nevertheless accompanied by a fond smile. She didn't object to being lightly wound up, which was just as well considering that so many of her friends seemed to see it as a rather diverting pastime, and to tell the truth, it was quite nice. On the ward, they were often so busy that there was little time for such pleasantries, and even if there had been, she rather suspected that no one would have dared to proffer them. It was probably her own fault, although Merlin only knew how; it wasn't as if she went out of her way to be draconian and tyrannical.
She shrugged, waving a hand to attract the attention of the waitress who entirely ignored it. Ah, well, such was life. "I'm not bad. Keeping my head above water, you know. Not that it's easy since the Ministry dump a new pile of paperwork on us every time I turn my back. You? Keeping the kids in order?"
"I'm a very gracious person, Cho. I thought after twenty years of knowing one another and you'd have figured that out," Jack remarked, eyes dancing with amusement. It was nice, being able to gently jibe and tease an old friend over coffee. Sure, he did the same with his colleagues from time to time (depending on who they were), but... it was different with Cho. They shared something special, memories that were special, from their time at Hogwarts. Nobody... no matter how much you explained it to them... understood what it was like unless they were there during the war.
"The Ministry lives to make lives difficult, don't though?" Jack remarked, lips turning into a frown. Merlin knew that Hogwarts got their fair share of paperwork as well, paperwork that had only seemed to pile up with the arrival of the Durmstrang kids. "Trying my best to... lots of new faces this year. Durmstrang has joined us, so classes are larger - that said, most are well-behaved, but there's a few -" Like the Headmaster's grandchildren,"- who act up a bit."
