With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
aking a moment to sweep her long hair up into a bun- it had grown quite a bit over the summer, and as much as she liked the new length, it did make it rather more of a problem when she wanted to do... well, anything-, Skye turned back to her partner for the night and gave him a slight smile. "Right, sorry about that. Lead on, MacDuff," she offered, brushing down her robes reflexively as she prepared to move on again. In truth, she quite enjoyed these evening patrols; it was a chance for quiet reflection and a little bit of relaxation from the stress of the day whilst she was away from all the crowds. Not completely alone, of course, but Alex wasn't so bad, really, and there were far worse people that she could have been partnered with. Like... Well. Lots.
It wasn't too dark at this time of year, which was also a relief; Skye wasn't easily spooked, but there was something about the castle's long, black corridors stretching away into nothingness with only the occasional pool of brilliant light which did more to obscure the vision than it did to aid it... It was downright off-putting at times, and it was then that despite everything, she was glad not to be out on her own. Not that two of them would be a great deal more likely than one to deal with any vague threat which they might encounter, but it was the thought that counted, and anyway, wandering around the castle by yourself at night would probably get boring after so long, whatever your talent for introspection- and Skye's was considerable.
There was a buzzing of excitement under Alexander's skin as he observed the corridor. They were on the top-most floor, about to start the first patrol of 6th year. It was shaping up to be an interesting year, that was for sure. Skye was definitely a good partner for patrols like this, her wit and intelligence made for a great study buddy too! He glanced at Skye, wondering if he'd manage to piss her off too this evening.Alexander had managed to piss off 3 of his closest friends just by existing. She didn't seem unreasonable at the moment but everyone around him seemed to think irrational was the new rationale. Perhaps he was the one losing grip of what was important in life, but goddamn was his pride hurting.
He tapped his side as she put her long ginger hair into a bun, and gave her her a small shrug to acknowledge her apology. He didn't mind, it wasn't like they had a strict time slot and he wasn't in the mood to rush. He doubted that anyone would be awake enough to be sneaking about. The second day of school was exhausting. It took a moment to process that, yes, she'd said MacDuff and yes it was pertaining to him. "Do I look like a MacDuff to you, MacGee?" He placed a hand over his heart dramatically, peering down into the darkened hallway. "How's your first day back been? Getting cosy with any of those Durmstrang students?"
he redhead put a hand to her chin as she pretended to consider the question. "Can I get back to you on that?" she teased, giving him a devilish grin and following his gaze down the corridor. What he was looking at or for, she hadn't the faintest idea; her own method had always been to walk around until she found someone doing something they shouldn't, so if Alex had developed a method for divining which black corridor was likely to contain troublemakers, she was all in favour of finding out what it was. Merlin knew the castle was big enough that they needed all the help they could get, because Skye was well aware that the odds of actually catching someone were reasonably slim considering the sheer number of rooms, corridors, cupboards, disappearing staircases, portrait-concealed passages, moving doors, argumentative flagstones and vanishing floorboards that they had to contend with. She thought she remembered that Ravenclaw had designed the floorplan, and wondered vaguely whether the woman had been a sadist as well as a genius.
"No, I have not been getting cosy!" she exclaimed, giving her Housemate a look of mock horror. "Merlin above, McCarthy; who do you think I am? They've only been here a few hours!" Skye shook her head with a melodramatic sigh. "Honestly, boys. No, you don't have to worry, Alex; if you've got your eye on someone then I promise you, you're safe from me."
