With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
A few ink-stained, crossed out paragraphs follow. They're barely legible, and the parchment looks like it has been folded haphazardly at least once. On the bottom of the page, there is a single clear line.

Note: written before Rodrik's letter was received.
Rodrik,
I found out something and I need to write you so we can figure out what to do. Don't want to write Mum and Dad, so they don't freak out. They have enough to worry about.
It's about Vaughn. He's not in France anymore. I found out from someone who actually lives with him now. I don't know how much I can say with that Ministry officer there but I'm sure you can piece it together from that?

Rodrik,
Okay. This is kind of fucking crazy but yeah, I think we did.
Who told you? Have you talked to him at all? Last I wrote to him, we were talking about me visiting him, which, uh, probably isn't going to happen, as you can see.
We need to tell him that we're not angry with him or anything, somehow.
I found out from a friend who found it out from-- Okay, no, the other way around--
There is this dude in my year, we've been roommates since the very first year. His name is Rowan Howard. And get this -- he's our bloody cousin! And he's got a little sister, our Hugo's age, who vanished around Christmas for the same reason we are fussing about right now.
And I figure you've heard about the Winter Ball. So, one of the people there lives with them now and is a buddy of Rowan.
And you know, I'm pretty sure Miss Grimblehawk (Hello! Please stay out of our business and we'll stay out of your hair!) is aware of what we are talking about so we... We need to meet. But I don't think we can do that before I get out of school, which isn't for more than a month.

Rodrik,
I'm... so confused. We don't have cousins, except now we do? You need to tell me more. I think I remember this guy Rowan. The really tall one, right? So he's the one who knows? I found out from someone who used to be in my year, who knows Vaughn now. I always say the world is way smaller than anyone thinks.
I know they have the Hogsmeade ban and stuff, but we could totally meet somehow. I have ideas. I could use Polyjuice Potion and disguise myself as you and enter the grounds! Or I could just put on one of your uniforms, we look alike enough. Or you could use the potion and be a professor and just walk out. I don't have the ingredients for Polyjuice though, plus it takes some time to brew. So maybe you could sneak out. I know there are tunnels, we've all heard about how Harry Potter used to use them. Or maybe you can convince the Headmistress to open the Floo Network to the school somehow! I don't know how you'd manage that, but it would be brilliant. Or you could go to Hogsmeade through the Forbidden Forest. I haven't done it, but I know it's possible.

Rodrik,
Shit, I forgot. Okay, well, it's okay. I'll see you after exams. This is probably why they didn't make me prefect, isn't it
I'm going to try to contact Vaughn in the meantime. I'll let you know if there's anything I can tell you if it happens before we see each other in person.
