With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Hufflepuff. Why in the name of Merlin did it have to be Hufflepuff? Walking into her dorm for the first time, Sophie disregarded her roommates, throwing herself onto the bed nearest the window and staring up at the ceiling. Perhaps her father had been a Muggle but her mother had not; she knew the reputations of the Hogwarts Houses, she knew that Hufflepuffs were generally considered to be totally useless, and she knew that she was going to have to work damned hard to avoid any possibility of having that stereotype ever applied to her. Of course, they fed you a lot of rubbish about taking the high ground, about not caring what other people thought of you, about doing the best that you could do regardless, but really, did anyone believe it? Sophie certainly didn't. She wanted to be someone, and for that, it very much did matter what other people thought of her. But that was fine. She would show them.
---
His eyes were on her; she could feel it in the way that she had learned to over the past few years, and she knew that at this point, most Hufflepuffs would have gone either delicate pink or garish red and started talking rubbish. But Sophie had expended a great deal of effort up to now in becoming very different to most Hufflepuffs, and so she looked in completely the opposite direction, raising a hand to adjust a lock of her hair, and continued her conversation as though she were entirely unaware of the boy's presence, despite the fact that she was quite sure that he was just aware of her knowledge as she was of his. Perhaps her smile was just a touch wider or her eyes a touch brighter, but really, who could be sure of such things? Save of course for Sophie, who had taken great care that they should be so. And later, she was sure, she would see the effect.

OWLs were a nightmare. Not in the usual way that students might describe them as such, though that was always a factor, but because, for Sophie, they presented an extra challenge. Yes, she needed to do well; she had big plans, she wanted to end up in significant places. But at the same time, she had a reputation to maintain; a reputation which would not be well served by appearing to turn herself into a Ravenclawish bookworm. The result was a careful balance between appearing to flip through textbooks when it was unavoidable and actually reading them; between sitting giggling on the lawns and poring over books in the library in the evening; between flirting and practicing, chattering and working, gossiping and writing essays, and even Sophie was finding it a little taxing. Still... it would all be worth it, eventually. She hoped. With a sigh, the brunette reached out and picked up her quill once again. She could get through another paragraph or so.
"I'm sorry?" Sophie enquired, in a tone which made it perfectly clear that she was not and had no intention of ever being any such thing. "Are you serious?"
The pity of the matter was that she rather thought the answer to that question, if the Gryffindor girl had the wits to answer it, would be in the affirmative. People just didn't seem to understand the basic concept of... well, anything, and it was just so annoying. With a sigh and and irritable flick of her wrist that brought her wand out of her sleeve, the brunette got to her feet, leaving the Hufflepuff table and taking a few steps across the floor of the Great Hall towards the blonde Lioness, who, she noted with satisfaction, flinched back slightly at her approach. Pretty face, yes, but so much more than that, and an aptitude for duelling was only the beginning.
Not that she had any intention of actually hexing the girl. Apart from anything else, she wasn't worth the detention.
"Now, look, Bethany," she continued, in her most logical tone of voice. "Even supposing that I thought your worthless boyfriend was a sensible use of my time, which, by the way, I definitely don't, then why would I possibly bother to hide it from you? You're practically wetting yourself just talking to me."
