With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
The Christmas dinner with Darcy's family might have been one of Finn's favorite Christmas celebrations ever. Since the divorce of his parents even the holidays were rough. They'd been rough even before the divorce, Casey never being good enough for their father was just not much of holiday spirit material if you asked Finn. The young man had asked Darcy to come with him to London to watch the Christmas lights and maybe they could even ice skate.
He even brought a second camera so Darcy could make photos too. Finn asked her to meet him on a spot he could easily be found, it was a little stand selling hot chocolate and he ordered two of them, one with extra marshmallows and a bit of coconut syrup. It was his favorite flavor with hot chocolate and he would let people fight him on it.
As he waited for Darcy the man chewed on his lip a bit, it was nice to have someone like her around. She had the same spirit he did and never complained about how much he smiled and she loved animals. Lady was with his brother for the evening, giving Finn all the time to spend with Darcy.
Was it a date? Even if it was, did Darcy want to call it a date? She liked Finn, she really did - he was so sweet, he loved animals like her and not to mention her was absolutely gorgeous! His chiseled jawline did things to her, she wasn’t going to lie. But she loved being free as well. It wasn’t that she hadn’t been with anyone before - she had dated (she used the term very loosely) guys and girls over the past couple of years, she enjoyed the sex that came with those people but it never last more than a few weeks. She didn’t like big official labels. What did Finn think this was? Really, why was she even worrying about it? She rolled her eyes at herself as she checked her appearance in the train station bathroom mirror. A quick touchup of her festive red lipstick aaaaand she was ready to go!
Darcy had been coming to London for day trips with various different family members practically since she was born and knew her way around the city like the back of her hand. Even if she didn’t though getting to the Christmas markets was the easiest thing in the world - you just followed the sound of Christmas music, the scent of peppermint and mulled wine and walked towards the multicoloured lights on the horizon. He was easy to spot by the stall selling hot chocolate (Uncle Gwaine totally hadn’t bought her a brandy spiked one when they came last year…”
“Finnie!” She snuck up behind him and jumped on his back. “You look handsome as always!” She planted a kiss on his cheek, leaving a lipstick mark behind as she slid off and stood next to him. “You’ve got a little something there…” She swept her candy pink hair out of her eyes and smiled up at him with an innocent smile.
Dating was something Finn hadn't done in a while... not since his ex. Honestly he didn't even know if watching the lights and drinking hot chocolate together was a date but if it was... was it bad? Finn liked how Darcy's family treated him and he knew his own family would adore her too but when it came to dating Finn wasn't just scared... he was terrified. The last time it happened something drastic happened along with it and he didn't need to repeat that.
It surely didn't mean he lived a monk's life but he was more careful, more aware of what he was doing. The thing was with being careful and being.. Finn, he didn't always know when something special came knocking on his door and people had to point it out to him like it was the most obvious thing in the world. They always had to and sometimes it just made him feel that much more of an idiot.
Before Finn realized it, before he could turn once more to see if Darcy was anywhere near himself there were legs and arms wrapped around him like a koala wrapped around a tree and Finn had to make sure not to lose his balance. "Oh hey! Darcy!" he spoke with a smile on his own lips. Finnie... it was Finn. Finn made a mental note to remind her every single day.
He felt her lips pressed against his own cheek and his cheeks flushed red. Thank goodness the darkness of the evening had made sure it was barely visible. Once she stood next to him and told him he had something on his cheek his smiled and reached for it to rub it off. "Oh really now?" he said while rubbing his cheek, making his voice sound a little funny. "Oof hey, look at that." he spotted the color of the lipstick on his hand. "I like that color on you."
Finn being the gentleman he is handed Darcy her cup of hot chocolate. "For you." he said with a smile that made the lights feel dim, his brightness and joy showing in every feature. "How have you been?"
