With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

Maybe this was finally Katrin's chance.
The small Slytherin's footsteps echoed through the dungeon halls as she made her way toward her sister's classroom. No amount of Ariella's seeming to ignore her would stop her now. She was sure that if Ari only gave her a conversation, got to know her even a little, that she'd realize just how similar they both were. This was what propelled Katrin down to the Potions office outside of class hours, deciding that now was a better time than ever to ask what Ari's plans were for the holidays. If she was staying at Hogwarts, Katrin would as well; if she was going home, so would Katrin; if she was going elsewhere--well, Katrin hadn't planned for that possibility yet. Maybe then she'd just stay. Plenty of others were doing the same, so it wouldn't be that lonely.
She took a deep breath as she stopped in front of the door. Other professors never inspired this sort of apprehension in her, but Ariella was her sister, which Katrin felt should count for something special. The fact that she did not get along with other sisters had not changed her admiration of the oldest one. Raising her hand, she knocked delicately on the wood, hoping that she had judged correctly that Ari was here at the moment. She clasped her hands behind her back as she waited, already preparing a sweet smile to put on her face.

The holidays were upon them and after the chaotic events at the dance Ariella was really looking forward to ditching this place for a few weeks. The woman had strong thoughts of quitting because she didn't sign up for this nonsense but her father as messed up as he may was very determined to keep her here. With a sigh she put the gift box for Peter on her desk and was writing a note for it when she heard a knock on her door.
It sometimes baffled her how many people seemed to seek her out. From a concerned brother wanting a potion for his sister to students thinking they could get their grades up if they just keep begging enough. Ariella waved her hand and watched the door open with a slight swing. Her perfectly kept eyebrows arched slightly when she noticed the knock belonged to one of her father's spawn.
"Miss Tyrell.." she said with her usual cold tone. There was no reason for the spawn to be here her present angel face leaving Ariella unimpressed. The woman was tired and just waited for the spawn to tell her what was on her mind so she could wrap this up. "How can I help you?" if it was money she was going to make sure it would diseappear like snow before the sun. The kid had nothing to complain about when it came to finances.
Ariella grabbed her suitcase and slipped the box in it as well as some clothes she assembled.

"Good morning, Ari," Katrin said, keeping her smile bright. There was no reason to call her Professor Tyrell when it was just the two of them, right? Katrin would never dream of calling her sister by her first name in class, but here, when she was trying to connect as family, it seemed far too formal. She stepped inside the office, smoothing down her skirt, hoping she looked put-together and not like a clumsy child. "How are you today? Happy that the holidays are coming up?" Katrin's eyes flicked toward the open suitcase--a perfect opening to ask what she wanted of Ariella! "Are you packing for the break? Where are you planning to go?" she asked, hoping it wasn't too strange of a question to ask. She needed to make conversation, after all. And not just any conversation, but conversation that would make her older sister like her. "I haven't packed much yet. I'm still deciding if I should stay here or go home."
It was then that the girl's eyes found another interesting thing--the note attached to the box Ariella was packing. She bit her lip, wondering if she should ask about the name she'd caught a glimpse of before the professor had tucked it away into her suitcase. It was probably nothing. It was probably just somebody else Ari knew--because someone like her must know many people to give gifts to! Peter was a fairly common name. Katrin hoped her face was staying neutral even as her heart was beating fast. She would ask one of their other siblings later if they knew anything--there was no way she was going to do anything to irritate Ariella on purpose.

Just a few more days before she went off to both her own home to check up on her father and then Donovan's place. Ariella made sure her suitcase was ready to go and closed it slowly as the little spawn started speaking to her like they were the same age. Like this wasn't a professional workplace. The older Tyrell woman just turned towards the spawn and nodded slowly. "Mmm it is a fine morning." she said and cocked her head to the side a bit. "I am well, thank you. Obviously. Been looking forward to this for a while now." just so she could get out of this hellhole and be with people who appreciate her and are worth her time.
The curious little kid didn't seem to be able to stop asking questions and it made Ariella frown as she closed the final bag and made sure it was all good to go. "I am, Heading home to check up on father then spend the rest of the holidays with Donovan." she never hid her relationship from her siblings but she also made sure none of the spawn even tried to get into his favor. Donovan was a busy man as it was and Ariella was still working on being... lovable. Ariella wasn't the type of person people usually liked or loved, often feared and hated instead.
Did that mean she didn't want friends? No. It meant that everyone she knew were as she expected them to be. Oblivious to the inside of a human being and not bothering to make an effort. And if they didn't bother, why should she? But then there was this kid who seemed to bother.. a lot. "I heard many of your siblings are staying here." she said softly and crossed her arms over her chest as she leaned back against her desk.
"If you want to stick around with them go for it. I believe they're throwing a celebration of sorts together. But if you wish to go home I suggest you write father so he knows you'll be coming home." Ariella wasn't well aware of plans her siblings made but she knew of some, like Parker. Was Ariella going to tell her sister about Peter? About her older brother that went missing? No. That was his story to tell not hers.

Sigh. With Donovan. Katrin held that Auror in particularly little regard, as she couldn't understand why Ariella would want to have a relationship, not when she was doing fine on her own. Professor at only twenty-two? Heiress to their father's business? It all sounded amazing. To Katrin, that was everything a woman could ever want. No men needed. Ever. And besides, spending time with Donovan meant not spending time with Kate, no matter where she chose to spend her holidays. Why couldn't she ever find time to make friends with her sister? Not at school, not at breaks, no time at all, so far...
But a gathering with all her siblings sounded equally as nasty as spending the whole break alone. If she went home, maybe she'd get a few days to chat with Ariella, which would be better than none at all. And hopefully, no time with Avery, who would ruin any celebration by her obnoxious presence alone, or with Jedrek, who was cranky at best and unbearably whiny at worst, and definitely no time with the one little pushover Puff who was apparently related to them all.
"I'll write Father, then," she said then, an air of finality to her voice. She paused for a second, preparing how to phrase her next question. One of her hands twitched upward, the urge to bite at her nails getting stronger, but she clenched her fist, willing herself to avoid the habit in front of Ariella if nowhere else. She hoped her voice was casual as she brought up the subject. "I was wondering if you'd heard anything from Peter? It would be a strange holiday not to have him around, don't you think?" Not that Katrin had any business talking about normal holidays, and Ariella knew it, but careful small talk was the best way to get answers.

Yes with Donovan. Ariella wasn't new to the wonders of why she was even with someone, how could a guy even be with a selfish, cruel person like herself but the truth is that she didn't want to be like her father when it came down to relationships. She didn't need him to expect her to marry dozens of men, to reproduce like rabbits just so she can breed bastards. No. Ariella was going to do things her way and he needed to learn to deal with that, and oh he does.
Ariella though not being a mind reader couldn't just tell that Katrin wasn't okay with her choice. Her expression though did tell Ariella that whatever words came from her mouth didn't please the little bastard child. There was legit no reason why that should even bother her so it didn't. Ariella wasn't here to please her siblings, the potions mistress and professor at this point had better things to do.
"He'll probably appreciate it." she said and cocked her head as she looked at the kid. The child going home should stop her father from being a drunk for a bit. Besides the little girl always seemed to want attention just like any other brat in the family but this one didn't seem to hate her. It was new to say the least. Only a few siblings could deal with Ariella because she either had taken care of them or they simply weren't bastard born idiots with peas for brains.
Maybe she didn't give Kat enough credit but Ariella wasn't going to assume this fast about that. The girl always seemed to have an air of... adoration in a way. Like Parker when she was younger. Ariella's brow rose slowly when Kat mentioned Peter and she eyed the bag she put the present in. Observant little child. "It will always be weird to not have him home." she said softly and for the first time today the coldness had left her voice a little.
Peter was her responsibility as much as he was her father's. She had taken care of siblings more than an average mother but yet she had no motherly feelings in any bone in her body. "I assume you're asking because of the note." she said and her lips curled up into a slight smirk. "He's written to tell me he is actually alive and well. Something that at first angered me but now I am just glad he is doing well." she said, her coldness slightly returning and her posture back to normal.
"I have gotten him a gift because he won't be there to experience the family Christmas." Like it was a big deal anyway. Ariella eyed the little girl and frowned for a moment before turning to her desk. She grabbed a small box and unlocked it. Ariella took out a necklace and closed the box again, tucking it away and out of sight.
The necklace was made of silver but the vial was something Ariella valued in a way. Instead of glass the vial was made out of an Emerald crystal. Inside was a deadly poison that she designed herself, it was symbolic in a way but she had worn this necklace for years before tucking it away. The brunette turned around and held it up.
Katrin wasn't going to be the next heir, or even close to the next heir of the family throne but she was if anything the least horrible bastard of the lot. One with actual brains and even when she hated to say it quite similar to herself when she was younger. Determined to make a name for herself. "Merry Christmas Katrin."

Would her father really appreciate it? Katrin didn't know for sure; there were always too many kids for her to tell how much he cared about her. Pretty much the only one who got the golden child treatment was Ariella, which was probably deserved. Not that it ever stopped Katrin from making sure he heard about every single one of her successes. That was what the owl post was for. But she really hoped he did appreciate her coming home. Maybe for once he could appreciate having a child who wasn't getting themselves into massive trouble all the time. Katrin put a lot of effort into being perfect, even if some of her classmates thought she was better described as a know-it-all.
(But they were jealous. They were just the ones too lazy to know as much as she did.)
"I'm glad he'll enjoy having me back. I wouldn't want him to think I was abandoning him or anything." That should do for a response. Dignified enough.
Intense blue eyes followed Ariella's movements, giving the smaller Tyrell the air of a kitten playing a hunting game--sharp, but cute. Still, although she tried, she couldn't quite hide her surprise at hearing that her brother was alive after all. While she'd never found herself in a place to advise her father or older siblings, if she had, then she'd have said to give up the search long ago. In her thoughts, people who went missing were almost certainly dead--or didn't want to be found. She was surprised that someone had actually managed to contact him. For a brief second, Katrin wished it had been her who did it, so she could have the credit for doing something good, as if she had never wondered why they kept looking for so long.
"I wish he would come back, but he's as stubborn as all of us, isn't he?" she asked. Peter had a lot of habits that Katrin thought were stupid, but she didn't have a bad opinion of him--he was a Slytherin like her, so she could put some trust in him to be intelligent. Maybe she could get some answers if she tried to write to him. Owls were smart, they knew where to go.
But then, if she did that, would it upset Ariella? Since Ari hadn't told her anything until now, perhaps it was something she wasn't meant to know, and she didn't need to cause a rift in the slightest. She would need a better plan before she went around looking for information.
Katrin's eyes continued to follow as Ariella pulled something out of a box in her desk, quickly revealed to be a large green gem on a silver chain. She waited patiently as her sister held it up slowly, even while every bit of her was hoping deeply that it was for her, and her eyes were probably displaying the hunger she felt for it. "For me?" she breathed when Ariella wished her a Merry Christmas. "I'll get something for you, too, I promise." Stupid Kat. Should've thought of that before you showed up, her brain told her.
