With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!
Aria was sitting in the back of the classroom, watching Professor O'Connor talk about vampires. The Ravenclaw knew this would be an heated lesson, and she knew if she even considered chiming, the witch would spark shit. Even if she held nothing against them personally, but she knew they were dangerous. But she listened as Cooper Narro had brought up his definition on vampires, and she had to say it was the smartest thing the kid ever said.
Sitting back she just waited until the lesson was over, or until she had the opportunity to chime in and see what she could get. Even if the witch had not been the biggest fan of heated classes, due to her being known to shut someone down when she had the chance.

Vampires. It was the subject that they were supposed to be talking about today in Defense Against the Dark Arts and after listening to the class heavily debate vampires amongst themselves, Grace bit her lip, sending a worried glance towards Adrian who'd taken up the seat beside her. She most certainly didn't want to witness people swinging fists again today, and if this class kept arguing... she was afraid that was going to be what happened.
For most of the lesson, Grace sat in silence, but when Nadya spoke up, Grace shot her what she hoped was a small, encouraging smile. If somebody who was almost attacked by a vampire in their last lesson could have some compassion in her heart towards one, then surely they all could.
Raising her hand, Grace was soft-spoken as she spoke up. She wanted the class to keep moving forward, instead of squabbling, and so she brought up something she objectively knew about vampires. "Vampires... they can't have babies, or fall pregnant, because... because they're dead," she said, glancing down at her hands afterwards because it sounded horrible.
Gosh, how awful some things would be, if you were a vampire. Living life... but not being truly alive. You'd have to watch the people around you grow old, have to one day bury them. Some people who once loved you would turn their backs on you once they found out you were no longer human... blue eyes drifting to Alana, she knew that was exactly what had happened to the Ravenclaw and she felt a twinge of sadness for her, just as she had when she'd read her obituary in the paper.

Avada kedavra. Perhaps if Alana thought it enough times, Professor O'Connor and his floofy haired companion might just self-combust? the intent was definitely there, the anger and darkness boiling deep within the vampire. Her menacing glare only left Professor O'Connor when a little Pegasus note flew onto her desk and she stiffly unfolded it to read. I'm right here with you, scrawled in Kaylie's penmanship. The blonde looked over her shoulder to give her girlfriend a reassuring smile though.. it wasn't a very good one. It didn't reach her eyes and made her thin lips disappear in on themselves and when the vampire realised all of this, she instead mouthed 'thank you, amore' to Kaylie.
It took a hell of a lot of will power for Alana to listen to the various contributions to discussion about vampires. Furthermore, Elijah would be lucky to live once she graduated from Hogwarts because him and that sister of his... that tried to sound smart were begging to be drained of their blood. Not that she'd ingest it - Merlin only knows what was floating around in it. Just drained because fuck you. With a deep breath in, Alana trained her eyes back onto Professor O'Connor as her brother spoke up against Elijah.
As the old man spoke of their valiant effort to curb and control themselves, Alana snorted because her effort had left her virtually undetected for months; one from the summer that she'd died and a good couple at school... until now really. More valiant an effort, Alana could not hope for in anyone really - except perhaps those suffering from anorexia. Because every day that she made an effort not to drain each and every one of her classmates of blood she was starving herself. By choice. So that the ungrateful turds like Cooper and Elijah could continue to breathe and she could gain her education.
Why shouldn't she be locked up? Was the Professor kidding? Her jaw clenched tight and those pearly whites of hers ground on one another with barely contained rage. She had all the answers under the sun - plus a few choice insults in both Italian and English for the classroom. If she could trust herself to stay calm, she'd have pointed out that:
a) there was no law against drinking human blood b) vampires didn't have to kill, even if they fed from humans directly, to survive. Her brother and at least one other student were testament to even Alana's restraint c) it was unfair to imprison a being for nourishing themselves. Ask those vegan muggles that shout 'meat is murder' and, if the vampire had anything to do with the muggle world, she'd extrapolate the data to prove that vampires eating humans was the exact same as any human eating a cow
... but she couldn't dare make the points with her anger where it was. She was more likely to grab her wand and yell the words that kept screaming in her head; 'AVADA KEDAVRA'. In fact, it was so loud in her head that she didn't even register the words uttered by Nadya... nor those of her own girlfriend when she asked about superhuman strength. Getting through this whole thing without contributing - Alana always contributed - was showing superhuman restraint, that was for sure.
The next hand to shoot up into the air, quite frankly, surprised Jack, as did what she had to say. Out of all of his students, he had not expected Nadezhda Kareva, the one who had almost been attacked by a vampire herself last lesson, to be the voice of reason amongst his students. "Thank you, Miss Kareva. Five points to Slytherin, because that is an excellent point. There are obviously some prime examples of wizards who are dangerous, however that is a topic best covered at another time and I suspect all of you would be familiar with dark wizards at this point in your education. I don't wish to go off-track," Jack explained.
A voice saying 'Professor' caught Jack's attention next and his eyes fell on Kaylie Rousseau. His brows almost raised in shock, because usually in his class she was found sleeping or slouching back in her chair. To have her actively participate... well, it was unexpected. "Miss Rousseau, a good question. Three points to Slytherin for your curiousity. As you said, a lot of literature and muggle folklore states that vampires have superhuman strength. From my readings, it seems like a popular theory is that vampirism works in reverse to human life - as we age, we grow frailer and weaker... as vampires age, people believe they only get stronger and stronger. There are also theories that the type of blood they drink, where it's sourced, the 'better' it is all contributes to superhuman strength. But it's all false. Vampires are no stronger than myself, you or anybody else in this room... can anybody else tell me what some false beliefs are about vampires?"
When Grace Longbottom raised her hand, Jack gave her a nod before elaborating on her point. "That's correct, Miss Longbottom. Five points to Hufflepuff. Vampires are dead, and even if they have intercourse with a human, they cannot make something living. Their body simply no longer functions that way."
Taking in his class, Jack waited for somebody to answer both the previous questions he'd posed - "will locking up a sector of our community help? Why do you think the Ministry has put in guidelines forbidding the imprisonment of vampires?" and his last question where he'd asked, "can anybody else tell me what some false beliefs are about vampires?"
6'0". IRISH. BIG HEART. LOYAL. BRAVE. WORKAHOLIC. BISEXUAL. SINGLE. distinguishing features: a big scar runs across jack's left cheek credit for award goes to ollie! <3
