With the capture of Verandi Farley and several high-ranking Trossach members, the British wizarding world has finally caught a break. The rate of rogue werewolf attacks have started dropping at a steady rate and, hopefully, things will stay that way. The Ministry is starting to loosen some restrictions, like not arresting werewolves standing on the street for loitering, however there’s still an obvious power imbalance between wizardfolk and werewolves.
The Cotswolds pack are continuing to advocate for the rights of werewolves and petitioning to change the legislation that has been set in motion by the current Minister for Magic, whilst the remaining Trossachs members are trying to stay out of the spotlight and keep a low profile… for now.
Whilst the British wizarding world seems to have calmed down, the same cannot be said for over in Northern Europe where a rebellion of magical creatures has risen. The state of things has gotten so bad that the European Ministry has enacted protocols to protect those under eighteen whilst their adult witches and wizards fight to keep control of their countries.
Students from Durmstrang have been sent to Hogwarts to keep them safe and those not old enough to attend school have been sent to live with relatives or designated British Ministry officials outside of Europe for the time being.
Will the low rates of werewolf attacks in Britain continue? How long will Durmstrang students stay at Hogwarts? Will the creatures usurp the wizardfolk in Northern Europe? Only time will tell.
SEPTEMBER 2019 It's been a very long, eventful summer in the wizarding world. A baby was stolen, several high ranking Trossach members were imprisoned, and werewolf attacks have drastically dropped as a result. What will happen now school has returned?
MAY 2019 An attempt to capture the beta of the Trossachs has been launched. Were the Aurors successful in their mission? Go read more here!

As Grace softly padded into the common room, her patchwork blanket from her bed was wrapped around her tightly, and her body singing with exhaustion. She was tired yet she wasn't able to sleep again, mind too busy running circles and her body tense with worry. It felt like every time she closed her eyes, she just kept picturing what may go wrong in Defense Against the Dark Arts tomorrow when she hypothetically tried to cast a spell
Sniffling, Grace surveyed the common room. It was empty, it appeared, except for the warm, dull glow coming from the fireplace. Perhaps if she stared at the roaring fire for long enough, sleep may come to her? Or so she hoped. She just needed somewhere comfy to settle down first and after spying a couch nearby, Grace trodded over, eyes still half on the fireplace because it was just so pretty.
Dropping onto the lounge, Grace anticipated the soft, plushy cushions to greet her but instead what she landed on was... legs? Oh by Merlin, were those legs? Shrieking, Grace scrambled to stand up, practically running half-way across the room with her cheeks burned bright red in mortification especially as she caught a glimpse of the person's face.

Restlessness settled underneath Adrian's skin as he stared into the dimming fire. The house-elves would revive it in due time, but for now, it was dull enough for him to stare right into it. The flames didn't ease his sense of unease, only furthering his inclination to throw the letter into it. He knew that everyone else was in bed at this moment, but he felt as if he had eyes boring into the back of his head. It wasn't true, but he just felt so watched as of recent. He gave a long sigh, pulling his gaze from the fire onto the book his hands. He was reading up on Conjuring spells to keep his mind off of his father's scolding words. He was using the edge of it as a bookmark, trying to reign in the frustration at the words on the page. He'd forgotten to turn in his homework for Potions, and therefore his father had been informed. The Hufflepuff was now resolutely not even looking at his potions, deciding to refresh his memory of Vanishing and Conjuring spells like Professor Samuels had suggested.
His eyes seemed determined for him to sleep away the unease, drifting over the page without a single word truly processed. The fire was not enough light to read, and he had to squint to read the small cursive words. He should move, go up to his dorms but at this point, and he didn't want to wake anyone else up. He scowled at the book and closed it. Perhaps he could get a little sleep in the warmth of the Hufflepuff room. He'd wake up as soon anyone entered, but at least it would be a little snooze. He placed his book to the side, contemplating whether to pull his legs up or not. Before he could make this decision, he heard the quiet footsteps on the stairs. He stilled, unsure if he wanted to witness this person leaving, he didn't want to get into somebody else's business. He closed his eyes and laid back, with a plan to count to a hundred or so. That ought to shut up his mind for long enough for him to rest, right?
Luck didn't seem with him as soon after he closed his eyes, at about number 21- someone fell into his lap. His eyes shot open, and he let out a large gasp as they gave a girly shriek. He sat still as she whirled around, his face void of irritation and full of disbelief. It was Grace, a girl from his year. "Wha- what are you doing down here? Should you be getting some rest?" How hypocritical of him to point out, but he didn't think it made his question less valid. "And why on earth don't you look where you sit?" His voice was harsh, but when was it not? There was an assumption that she'd understand that he wasn't angry, more ruffled by surprise. Words:: 492 Tags: GRACE LONGBOTTOM

When Adrian's face caught the light from the fireplace, immediately Grace's heart raced and her entire body drew in on itself as he finally spoke, trying to make herself as small as possible. Maybe she'd grow so tiny that she'd disappear from existence altogether, or at least that was the hope. She definitely didn't want to be standing there right now.
But then he was asking question after question and with her arms wrapped around middle, Grace had to battle with herself not to cry. She wasn't going to get upset, right? She didn't want to embarrass herself further. "I-I-I..." She was already stammering... off to a great start, it seemed. "I couldn't sleep and I thought perhaps if I came down I could try and exhaust myself somehow or... I... what are you doing here - I mean, you don't have to answer that. It's none of my business. I'm sorry.
As Adrian asked why she didn't look where she sat, she was kicking herself even more. Oh Merlin, why had she been so stupid? Now he was angry at her, furious it sounded, and the tears pricked even more in Grace's eyes, threatening to fall. "I... I'm sorry. It was silly, I should have looked... I... I didn't think anyone would be here," she said, voice turning soft and meek. "I... I mean, I looked a little when I got down here and didn't see anyone but I didn't double check and I should have double checked because I sat on your lap and I've never ever ever sat on somebody's lap before and I don't want you to think it was on purpose because it wasn't and... and... and..." And she needed to shut up before things kept getting worse.

Adrian's face didn't soften a bit as she stammered out an answer, giving a shrug of his own. "I stayed down here to do some revision and study but it got too late to go upstairs and wake up my roommates." He rolled his eyes and sighed audibly. "Alright calm down already. I get it. I didn't think you'd done it on purpose, I was taken off guard. Just sit down...just not on me." Adrian really didn't have a way with words. He moved a little closer to the corner of the couch, pulling the book back into his hands and against his chest as if to create another barrier between them.
He cleared his throat, searching for any kind of topic for conversation. There was no way it wouldn't be awkward if the two fell into silence after an incident like that. "I was just reading up on conjuring spells from Transfiguration class..." Adrian trailed off, looking back down to the textbook, "Have you started our Potions homework?" The irritation in his voice was not aimed at Grace at all, his attention caught by the letter acting as a bookmark.

The fact that Adrian was staring at her with such a firm expression and rolling his eyes and telling her to 'calm down' didn't help Grace feel comfortable one bit, although she supposed... she hadn't helped him feel comfortable by sitting on him, had she? "I... I promise I won't sit on you again," she murmured, sitting down on the opposite end of the couch and drawing her knees up to her chest. She supposed if anyone were to walk in and see the giant space between them, they'd find it comical, like Grace and Adrian thought each other had cooties they'd catch by sitting close together. "I... so... your roommates. Do you, um... do... do you get along with them?"
When Adrian cleared his throat, Grace's attention was immediately placed back on him and he shared with her that he was reading up on conjuring spell. "Oh, I... I don't think... Professor Samuels is a very good teacher, isn't he? A kind one, too. He's... I'm a bit rubbish at the whole conjuring spells business, though I am trying my hardest. How are you doing with it?" she asked, trying her hardest to muster up a friendly smile. Then he was asking about potions homework and Grace nodded because she had. She always tried to get a head start on homework when she could. "I did... I'm not sure if it's any good, and I don't think that Professor Tyrell likes me... me very much. She looked at me as though I'd grown two heads when I guessed what potion we were learning about last lesson. I really hope she doesn't think I'm daft, but... I'm afraid it may be too late."
